Vortex Core MX Clear being delivered today! What should I do first?

I'm a pretty devout 60% user but i'm intrigued by some of the 40% board out there. I ordered the Core in the hopes that if I like it i'll get something nicer like the minivan.

What are some good custom programming that you'd recommend?

Is it programmable through traditional QMK / TMK stuff, or is it something proprietary to Vortex?

I have one - its proprietary, and kind of confusing, but it gets the job done!
