Thermaltake Cherry Keyboard
« on: Sat, 13 March 2010, 12:08:15 »
I ran in to this video about a new series of Thermaltake brand peripherals.  There isn't much information given on the mechanical keyboard model (they just brush it aside to focus on L33T GAMER stuff, typical) but it appears to have a USB hub and audio connectors - could well be an OEM model from the usual factories that is only branded as Thermaltake.  Still, it clicks!

That guy is a fraud.  I find the way he pronounces "Solder" annoying.  A "soddering iron" sounds like the tool of a sado-masochist.

Yeah, i'm British.  It sounds more difficult to pronounce your way, without an "L" breaking things up a bit.

Actually, the fans are there so that when a Thermaltake representative is taking a piss at you, he/she can direct the stream of urine at your face in a nice, refreshing aerosol spray.

This was almost as retarded as Kip Kay's illuminated keyboard "hack":

The whole concept of a backlit keyboard is stupid to begin with.  IMHO, doubleshots = as good as any backlite on a silly deck keyboard :P  I do like the size of the deck 87 ice though.

I'm just glad that people from Pittsburgh (where I grew up) didn't pronounce "solder" like "sooter" which they did with "water."

"You want some ice wooter?"

"Do you have any clothes need warshed?"

I say it "solder".

Where'd we get our language and the majority of our words?
How do they say it?
Exactly.

i want to sodder a holder.

you can tell a pretentious brit when he says "skool shed-yule." Consistency demands skool sked-yule or shool shed-yule.
I trolled Geekhack and all I got was an eponymous SPOS.

Most Americans still think that the British sound like **** Van-Dyke in "Mary Poppins".  I'd be very impressed if they could distinguish between a pretentious and non-pretentious British accent.

Most of the brits I've worked with pronounced schedule that way.  It always threw me a bit, like the first time I heard someone say they were going to "knock up a document".  There was a big difference though between one co-worker from Bristol which didn't sound pretentious at all, the opposite probably.  And another from Manchester that arguably could be called pretentious.  Some of them had been here long enough so the accent was barely noticeable, unless they'd been back to the U.K. which would make it resurface for a bit.

The interesting thing about that is that it's people from the North (e.g Manchester) who tend to perceive themselves as more humble "salts of the Earth" so to speak, and Southerners generally see themselves as more "upper-class" and cultured.  On the other hand, with the continued rejuvenation of larger Northern cities and the increase in the number of wealthy people in those areas, more and more people attempt to ape the habits and mannerisms of their historically richer counterparts in the South.  This is, from my experience, especially true in a city like Liverpool, where good taste and reserve are hard to come by.

While I love doubleshot keys, I game in my darkened home theater, and backlit keys are less a luxury gimmick than an essential feature.

One of the funniest things I have heard realting to accents (Apart from a friends accent, born in Jamaica, moved in his teens to South Wales... you have to hear that one to believe it), was a conversation between between a Scouser and a Nigerian. Just play that one over in your mind.

But yes, the word's Reserve and Scousers are rarely uttered in the same sentence without copiuos amounts of laughing.

I'm kinda into glowing gimmicks right now.  That spartan look gets kinda boring after a while.
