What do you do when not on the forums?
« on: Sun, 14 March 2010, 17:34:33 »
This just suddenly came to me, what do the geekhackers do when they are not on the forums?  Well, being a high school student, I spend most of my time at school, then when I get home I have been going chipmunk hunting.  My stepdad pays me $5 per chipmunk I kill because they get into our garden.  I also like watching baseball and playing golf.

Work, drinking, and disc golf.  Sometimes, all at the same time (no, really).

Nice.

I re-read the title of the thread, and it makes it sound like we put in 8-hour shifts on GH like it's our job or something.*  I'm not sure if that's something to be proud of or just plain sad.

Taking over the world.

Sounds good to me. Does that still count as a relaxation exercise?

Yours truly hangs out in a few other forums and likes to go hunting for new (to me) music on the 'tube. Pity one can't really do that for a living, I definitely wouldn't mind.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

Today it was revealed that Ireland's cardinal had been made aware of child sex abuse during the 1970s, and made the victims sign vows of silence. He had the priest layicized, but never reported the crime to the police. When asked why he replied -

Hmm, currently I'm at: Work (driver/software dev), Skiing, Cycling, Karaoke, annoying University courses, game (occasionally, beat Mass Effect 2 a couple a weeks ago), program for various projects, study Japanese, and Linux guy.

Stuff I usually do, but have been lazy as of late: singing, piano, martial arts, and church, when it's convenient

I know there have been three pages of discussion, but I must return to the Chipmunk hunting.  I love the fact that someone on here goes chipmunk hunting for 5 dollars a head.

As for me, I am into Honda Ruckus scooters, and I'm getting excited about the warm weather we're starting to have because it means I won't have to bundle up so much when I take it to work.  My wife is also a big fan of my Honda Ruckus because it means she gets to use the car as much as she wants to while I zip around Ocean City.

I love Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3 (elswervo is my handle if anyone wants to be my buddy).

I run a movie theater in a resort town which means I get to obsess over things in the offseason because there is absolutely nothing to do.  This offseason's crazes have been Beatles bootlegs, geekhack, my blue cherry Filco (greatest keyboard ever), scooter mods, Moby **** on my Kindle, and the Denny's menu, which is quite limited once you really look it over.

Denny's is actually quite different in Japan (unlike say McDonalds). Menu is completely different (it's japanafied American breakfast/lunch food, which coming from the land of peameal bacon is quite disappointing...). The serving sizes are tiny as well, senior size portions almost come to mind.
All in all disappointing, but if you find yourself in Japan and really don't want to eat Japanese food, its a pretty good bet that you'll find something at least edible.

I mentioned Denny's because my theater is right next to one.  I eat there a lot and have only had six massive heart attacks because of it.

I figured you were a movie buff. I'm suprised, though, since you were stuck on that spaceship watching terrible movies for such a long time.

Ah Dennys.  I remember one late night trip coming back from Lake Tahoe and getting a fish sandwich.   My friend took a bite and noticed the fish stick was frozen solid.    She then took it and started rapping it on the counter yelling, "Oh Yoohoo!".

Denny's is HORRIBLE. My dad got a fly in his salad haha. Very low quality food, never ate there again.

They're all over Virginia, which isn't far from me, and there are a lot in Maryland, but for some reason my area doesn't have a single Waffle House to stumble drunkenly into at three in the morning.

Jim Gaffigan has a hilarious bit on Waffle House, or Affle (awful) House if the "W" is burned out.  Those places are human dumps.  The last time I was at Denny's, it was after partying with some stripper all night.  I had a hangover for like 2 days.  I am never going back.
