Corrosion / oxidation / rust on Realforce metal plate
« on: Thu, 25 January 2018, 21:13:49 »
Anyone experiencing the same issues on their board? Or any preventive methods to maintain the metal plate.

Thanks.

Hmmmm I've owned my Realforce and my wife has her FC660C for about 3 ish years now and I've recently open it up for modding and I didn't notice any rust.

Did you spill any liquid on it at any point at any chance?  Though I'm not expert on this but in general Topre is very easy to take apart so you can probably take everything off the plate and spray some anti rust things on it?  It's just a very length process though (not hard, just tedious).

I wonder if anyone else have better suggestions.  :P

There is always the option of throwing a couple packs of silica gel in the keyboard case before putting it back together, if you want to help inhibit future rust, assuming you live in a high humidity area where further rusting is inevitable.

I'm planning to apply a thin layer of corrosion X on it to prevent further damage, but unsure will it works.

I've had an older model that had a rusted plate, and when I asked around, others said it's a known problem.
