LOL, I thought Model F land was the dark side.

I missed out on the NIB Mini.  However, SKCheng has made me a generous offer that I can't possibly refuse.

Stealing someone else's picture is not only unethical, it's lazy.

On an entirely unrelated topic I think I'd like to make a tie showing the HHKB using a pic I [strike]ripped[/strike] found on my hard disk.

Can you do me a huge favor??   Can you disassemble the terminal Space Saving keyboard and let me know whether the PS-2 board will fit in the same way??  I have a busted up Space Saving keyboard and I'd like to simply swap out the circuit board if that will work.   Keep the rest for spare parts.   If not, I'll go ahead and create another Franken Nuts/Bolts board.

Thx,

I have a SS, that I converted from terminal by simply swapping out the PCB from a normal Model M.
So it should work, just a couple of minutes work.

But does the numpad work??   That's good to know since that means that a Space Saving PCB will swap into a terminal unit.

The 102-key 1391403 is quite common, but I've never seen a European layout spacesaver. There was an ISO spacesaver made by Unicomp. but it was a weird ISO version of the US layout. As far as I knew, IBM only made Canadian French and Latin Spanish ones.

My unit was made by Lexmark.  It's a '92 or '93 model if I recall correctly

Mhmm, I suspected that only the Lexington plant made the spacesavers, this seems to confirm this.

You mean the international Space Saving models??  I'm pretty sure my earlier boards were manufactured by IBM.  Then there must have been a transition period in the early '90s with these boards.   And I find it variable whether one piece or two piece keycaps were used.  I suspect that the two piece variety was/is more common.

I don't know if it was established if such a board even exists (just the rubber dome one). If so let's get a part number!

Back on topic for a little bit.   I got this unit all cleaned up and ready for shipping.   This one is going out to Greece.

New IBM SDL cable.  And some nifty colored keycaps.

And some various shots to show condition of the board.  It's amazing how nice these look after a quick shower.

New keycaps printed by Chuck over at Unicomp.   Brand NEW keys.

I hope the new owner approves!!!

Looks great but I notice there are about 8 rivets missing on the right side. I wonder if it affects the feel of the keyboard.
Could you do a nut/bolt mod on just the rivets that are missing?
