Model F ANSI Mod Key Hard To Press
« on: Tue, 10 April 2018, 18:58:05 »
I turned my model F left shift from whatever it was before (1.5 width maybe?) to a standard Model M left shift key. I did this by taking out the barrel spring and flipper of the neighboring barrel and inserting the Model M stabilizer peg thing into that barrel. It works well if hit straight on but if I hit the key towards the outside or bottom corner there is too much resistance to press the key. Does anyone have any ideas on how to address this? Thanks!!

You either have the wrong stabilizer insert or you have it inserted incorrectly.  Look at it closely, they're not all symmetric.

As in I might have installed it upside down? Or as it I used the wrong stabilizer insert peg thing?

Some of them have the hole centered, some have the hole offset, so rotating it will move where the hole is in the barrel.

The insert for the shift key should be a centered one.  I believe the vertical ones on a numpad are the ones that are offset.  I could be wrong.

Looking at your pic, does the hole seem offset a little to the left or is that a trick of the angle?  You might want to pull it, rotate it, try it again.

these are the variations

"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."
