IBM Model M DIN5 to USB?
« on: Wed, 02 May 2018, 13:58:05 »
Some questions

So I bought a Model M with this connector:https://imgur.com/a/49wVeUv

This is DIN5 correct?

I know I can get a DIN5 to PS/2 and then an active PS/2 adapter to USB.
But is there anything out there that would convert DIN5 to USB directly?
I couldn't find anything online.

does your model m have a detachable sdl cable? if so you could prob just replace the whole cable with this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/273156390075

I just bought it so I don't have it in hand, assuming that it's detachable (looks like it), that is an SDL input connected to the keyboard, correct?

Alright, thanks!
Bit pricey, but I'll probably do that then.

Actually, what's the difference between the link you posted and this? https://ebay.to/2JNUaNz

It's sold by the same guy, and it seems like it does the same thing, but for cheaper.

Thanks,

think its the same as the white one I posted earlier. only difference is the more expensive one lets you reprogram the keys.

I never knew that Orihalcon made SDL-USB cables with and without chips. Definitely worth the extra $10 if you plan to re-program any of the keys.
"We are on the precipice of signing an agreement to advance talks with Iran that preserves the good parts of former President Barack Obama’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) while amplifying its flaws.
Mr. Obama came to an agreement that did not involve America’s most precious treasure, the lives and limbs of our soldiers.  The 1.7 billion dollars of frozen Iranian assets released by Obama pales in comparison to the 300 billion being floated as a rebuilding fund.
So far, speculation that Iran will be free in the future to continue its nuclear program is the opposite of Trump’s stated goal for the war and in direct opposition to what Mr. Obama negotiated.

The super-cheap way out is to go with a DIN-5-to-Mini-DIN-6 (PS/2) and then a PS/2 to USB as the AT and PS/2 signalling are electrically identical and these items are very common.
