That's dangerous. How much is shipping?

F and T stand for two members of F&T who knew each other in this hobby.

It was mainly my friend designed this kit. He named it 1916 just because it's his lucky number.

Yes. The keymap can be changed using bootmapper client.

I really like the board and have been watching this since it’s IC phase, but can we get some more info on the PCB? Is it mini USB or USB type C? What is it running for firmware and programmability? What layouts are supported since the plate looks like a universal plate? Also can I see another picture of the WKL version? Maybe I’m just seeing things but the blockers don’t look like 1u blockers to me.

Thank you,
Tom

I would also like to have more details about connectivity. Regarding firmware and programmability, Sylvester already stated that the PCB will run Bootmapper Client, which is fine.

The shown pictures with blockers are not of the WKL version (84 keys), but of the 86-key WK version, like this one: https://imgur.com/HW2KL2I (6x 1.25u and 6.25u spacebar), so the blockers are smaller than 1u.

I placed an order for the kit with brass weight upgrade anyway, simply because I like the design too much  :)). If possible Sylvester, please consider some revision on the brass weight engraving. I don't mind the big 1916, but imho the font of the "Designed by F&T" doesn't really match the cool overall design.

Whats the info on the electroplated brass weight. Is it brass plated with something else? Something else with a brass plating on it? Very curious.

Edit: also is this being manufactured at the same shop who made the Mars 8.0?

Yeah some of the manufacturing problems with the Mars 8 are a little scary if they havent sorted it out with this 1916

The PCB is almost the same with Mars 8.0 final version PCB. It was revised three times. Now it supports WKL, ANSI, ISO, and 86 keys layouts.

1916 will be made by the same factory as Mars 8.0. I think all the Mars 8.0 buyers have witnessed the quality they can make.

BTW, A camou prototype is being anodized.

I had a lot of issues with the build quality on the Mars 8.0 - specifically the threaded holes keeping the two halves together. I think using m2.5 thread was a problem, the threads stipped on a few of the holes. I ended up having to re-drill the holes to a more appropriate screw size. If they had been an M3 or M4 it would have been better.

The brass weight is going to need to be re-finished as well. Overall very rough, the Mars 8.0

Also the spacer / diffuser included with the Mars 8.0 snapped as soon as I looked at it.

What is the deal with the electroplated brass weight in this new model?
