Who got these green Cherries?
« on: Thu, 13 May 2010, 13:41:07 »
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180504964208

Two Cherry G80-1800HAU / 12 keyboards with green cases. I was very interested at £5, less so at £15 and I'm surprised they went for £47.50.

Anyone know the story behind these?

Edit> I was put off by some of the keys looking funny, I thought the picture may have been shopped, but I just realised they might have been put on upside down. :D

I backed out early on this one.  Would have bid more if I knew they were double shots.  But wouldn't have bid up to that much...

I pulled out at £15... Much as I wanted them, the other half would have killed me.

I was "outbinted" on them. Did you notice though, nobody stuck up the link until they were sold, everyone keeping quiet in the hope of a "harvest" fest.

Sod the doubleshot's, I was after the boards themselves. I like Blacks (Yeah, I know I'm in the minority), which I suspect are in them. And I need a cherry board to accommodate my shiny new GeekHack keys... ;-)

My money is on them going to Japan, Korea or the Netherlands :-)

Not sure exactly, I can check later if anyone is interested. For shipping it will be in the 2 to 5 kg range, 19.50 shipping to most EU countries. Probably only interesting if you buy two boards, within that 5kg limit.

If you're a Cherry freak, it's the best built Cherry board I have ever  seen.

U know in China taobao.com.
such a keyboard cost u less than 10USD
but the postage is ....

Nice score on those two green boards. I am glad I did not see them. I would have tried to bid more than they went for and I'm already at 10 boards this month and in debt to even pay up half of them. Terrible.

So yeah, I am happy I did not see them.

From the looks of it I would almost guess they were a special order for the army or something like that.

I might regret not bidding on these, but I already have so many similar boards.
Let us know what's up with those odd looking keys. I'm wondering now if it's just an extreme image compression artefact.

My funding is tied up in a surprise eBay win. If you get your Unitek ducks in a row before I can, go for it.

TYVM for the Pics, been waiting to have a good look. Now I'm definitely green with envy (always wanted a Cherry MX 18xx)

Strange the label says 'Made in Germany' and another sticker on the side says 'Made in Denmark'.

If ever you find this KBD toooo nasty to your liking, please let me have the 1st option to purchase or maybe trade for 3 KBDs of your choice from my Signature. (condition=I pay shipping for nasty KBD, you pay shipping for the 3 KBDs).

H2099 keyboard. Seems to be bundled with Inmarsat maritime satellite systems.

The * key is odd, but looks more normal at some angles. Must be taller but with smaller top surface. Maybe it served some critical function as part of that system. Let's hope the coastguard don't turn up at your door when you press that key, LOL.

Ah, knew it was some sort of OEM job.

The keyboards of the Dolch PACs are basically the same thing, except with blue switches and a slightly different case.

Before it was cleaned, it was on sideways.  Laggy put it back on the right way afterwards.
