I think I spy a small but old server in the 4th pic. Even if I lived next door I couldn't touch that due to the sheer volume of crap. I gave up trying to salvage older but working stuff years ago. Unless it is *very* special, it gets chucked now.

I saw, but who cares. 300PLs!!!!! Juicy wonderful 300PLs. If they're 6862, they're not as cool as 6562 with Pentium 1 MMX at 233 Mhz.

Here you can drop of old computer gear/ monitors free to several of the nationwide electronic chain stores - it's the volume they wouldn't cope with

That's one of the larger versions, so it's taller than most 300PLs. Damn, that thing is huge.

It's missing the cooling "personal computer 300PL" plastic tag. They're detacheable. I think you could swap the intellistation E Pro tag, and turn it into a black 300PL case with the blue; that'd be so cool.

But the new ones with the PII processors aren't that great. I like the 1997 6562 versions because they had really cool Crystal FM audio, with Matrox Mystique cards, and, easier in the cooling department.

I see nothing different with that 300PL than any other, case-wise. The lack of the blue part does make it look bigger though (it's a type of illusion, similar to how white rooms look really big if there's nothing dark mixed in).

did any of the later IBM machines have a full-ATX arrangement?  I sort of liked the later all-black look.

Not sure on model numbers but certain late P4 NetVista towers (the ones with the backwards-leaning cases with flat fronts, whose front panels extend further than the top of the case) take what appear to be standard ATX mobos. PSU is a problem, it's fairly weird-shaped, but they actually have decent PSUs to begin with so if you're not building a monster you might be able to get away with it. 200-something watt output but they're decently reliable for OEM stuff.

Here's what the PSU looks like in that thinkcentre:


NetVistas were also made in those "fender" towers. My particular intellistation happens to be leaned with the back fenders. IBM used that whole design in general for a lot of their later tower models.

The PSU should be standard, the ThinkCentre S51s on the other hand used PSUs that are probably impossible to replace!



If you're able to tell, the PSU isn't a square, there is a part where it has a "balcony" over the motherboard. So you'd either have to get one half that size, or also balcony over.

Netfinity 5600.  

Dual PIII based system, very picky about having PC133 ECC Registered memory.

Next to that, is an Intellistation M.

Dual PII based system, less picky about memory.
