Yep, those are the mice like the scrollpoint pro, but with a scroll wheel.

I may get one for my dad, who, has been having some pains in his hand due to using an unergonomic mouse at work (probably a crappy dell one).

I'm still waiting for a Scrollpoint Pro that ships outside the US... I've become quite fond of my Scrollpoint III.

I like the scrollpoint too; it mirrors the trackpoint in terms of panning. But my dad could probably care less about the fancy IBM doodads.

EDIT: on a funny note, most people find the scrollpoint mechanism too fast or akward (I like it fast, and I'm used to it, makes scrolling so easy and effortless), or, just can't get used to it. Kind of like the trackpoint: but I'm so good with it that I can use it good as a mouse for gaming.
But I guess I'm one of the few willing to dive into the strange and funny IBM technology.

It's good when the driver is installed (and the driver does some quite clever stuff too, like if you have two windows open, the scrollpoint will scroll in the window that the cursor is in, not the one that is active in Windows. This is really handy for multiple monitor setups)

Problem then is that in OSes that do not have the drivers, it's very hard to use.

The ones I listed don't need drivers.

And my scrollpoint pro works fine in windows 7 without drivers; but I've never had any problem with them, and you can always download them from ibm-103 (which is branded from lenovo but still coming from IBM servers).
Heck, they even have files to flash BIOSs for ancient 300PLs.

And they likely will have for some time. It costs them nothing once it's up on the site. They are business class machines. Support is everything to a business, considering they buy their workstations in bulk. You think someone who is half-competent at their job is going to lash out £100K on workstations with crap support?
