Wining the IBM Lottery.
« on: Mon, 04 March 2019, 11:55:40 »
Pulled from a Warehouse for $50 total.  ;D

Model F-AT (plus keys to mod to modern layout)
Model F-100 Matrix
Model F-XT
Model M SSK (tenkeyless)
Model M v1 03/86
Model M v1 Industrial 11/86

Going through the process of testing them all, cleaning, and repairs if needed. The Model M Industrial has a little flex, but in my experience that can be fixed.
Only thing I was looking for and didn't find was a Model F62/77.

The SSK was just dusty. no cracks, discoloration, mars or anything. Fingers crossed that is the same for all of them.

Found a handful of NIB Model M's of mostly 1st and 2nd Gen. Grabbed one, can maybe go back and grab others if there is enough interest. This place is basically a dumpster heap of 80's computers and parts.  Quite a Few AEKII's, vintage Mac keyboards, Modef F-XT's, etc. I really just picked up what I am interested in. Really want a Model F62, maybe this is good trade-bait. Will test the Matrix on one of our old IBM PCs (we literally have 5150/5170's and PS2's and such so shouldn't be an issue.

That's a nice find!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Start with alcohol to remove that "BAD" written note.
"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

Wow! That's quite the haul. Congrats! If there's any spares for the rest of us, share some spoils! Would love a model F sometime.
