Maltrons have weak resale in the US. Don't buy it for an investment.
I trolled Geekhack and all I got was an eponymous SPOS.

$300 more for brand new (8 years old!), USB, latest firmware, warranty, piece of mind, etc. If there is one small issue, mailing round trip with Datahand is at least $50 plus the cost of any work.

$150 might be worth it from a play/hobby/parts aspect, not to mention actually getting it to work.
