So! Here's the new vote. We're doing it the same way, 3 options, check box all that you would purchase. I would purchase all three, so I'll be checkmarking all three of them. Don't go "well, I'd buy the beige one, but I'd rather buy the white one" because that's what the second question is for. If this were a group buy for any of the keysets, and you had no options over what it looked like, would you buy it?

Also if your going for an entire set of any 'new' legends its my understanding those all have to be paid for which might drive up costs.

I want SA profile, soware, but normal legends, as much as I love Elder Scrolls, I don't think I'll ever use the keycaps. And these would be laser etched, I want DS ABS

Daedric, as a written alphabet, is Copyrighted by Bethesda Softworks, and owned by Zenimax. As such, I legally cannot make profit on any design featuring the alphabet, unless it falls into fair use (which is what protects SP. They're selling keycaps, with any legend, I'm providing the legend for my own use, to make no profit on, they're protected by fair use)

That being said, yes these will be more expensive than standard keycaps because of the custom legends.

Pics of the Daedric design will come tomorrow, and once we nail down colors I'll be contacting SP for a scaling Quote.

I'll get a quote comparing this set with custom legends as well as standard legends, to see how much more we're paying, and if it's actually worth it.

Just so that I understand this correctly: you're planning to have SP make a whole set of new DS molds for Daedric legends, in SA profile?

This must cost a fortune! How many orders will you need to make this happen?

I didn't really consider that they'll have to create molds for it, but maybe it wont be too much.

Otherwise, we'll just do a SoWaRe standard SA set!

IIRC, it is $45 per new legend. (correct me if i am wrong). so, SoWaRe standard SA set would be a better choice.

Yeah. Maybe.

TKL set at the new legend price, would be 87 by 45, and brings us right to 4 grand.
A full keyboard set wouldn't add that many additional legends, and with ESC, windows keys, and space bar blank, we're still sitting around 87 for 107 key sets.
Now, I'm considering doing a border design (much like the one in the Tengwar keyboard pictured below) for the F row, which would further reduce the number of legends involved.



If we got 100 people in the GB, that's an additional 40 dollars for each key set. If we got 200 people in, 20 dollars additional, 400 people, 10 dollars additional.

Feasible, if we can get enough people interested. but potentially unreasonable.

I'll get all the numbers together, and then see if there's enough interest.

What do you guys think? Border F row / around numpad? Try to reduce the legends? Or scrap the idea all together and go with standard legends?

I don't think you quite understand the ownership and profit aspect. I assure you that companies making caps, such as WASDkeyboards and Signature Plastics, are making profit while they do so. Thus, they will be the stopping point of this GB, without that permission.

I'm very interested in an SA profile keycap set. Soware is a bit tame for me. I'd prefer a nice, bright color scheme or maybe even Valentine's. I know that's already being IC'd but I love bright colors.

SP don't want to have anything to do with possible breach of copyright, a while back a Totoro GB was cancelled because of these concerns.

Not sure if I like SoWaRe, how about a Yolch

so are the odd sized mods fixed at SP now?  my SA Round 4 set mods are small on a few keys but i kind of like it. having the backspace the same profile as the alpha numbers would be nice though.

apparently the commando set is fixed. just curious if future sets would be as well. either way I am in.
