WHat's the difference between pbb and plate mounted?

PCB mounted had two little stems to secure the switch to the PCB  and plate mount does not. If you need plate mount, you can just cut off the stems on PCB mount and they will work.

PCB mounted had two little stems to secure the switch to the PCB  and plate mount does not. If you need plate mount, you can just cut off the stems on PCB mount and they will work.

I had a question about this as well.

So both PCB and plate mounted mx switches will have the two through hole switch connectors which get soldered to the PCB.  Yes?  The PCB mounted switches have two additional plastic tabs which help hold the switch to the PCB as well as two additional metal prongs which would be through hole soldered to the PCB as well, but do not serve as a connection point, but serve the purpose of helping hold the switch to the plate on as well?

Here is an image I found.  Am I in the right ballpark here?

Yea, but I already have 200 vintage blacks that I have yet to use (have plans for them, but on the long run). I just wanted to get a few to try them before going for 100.

Oh yes, I should update!  I received my switches very quickly.  They have no diodes in them and are just standard PCB-mounted variety (so you can trim the plastic pieces at the bottom and plate-mount if you'd like.)  Came packed really well in a sturdy box

Received mine. I was thinking, a set of 110 (like the Matias switches are) would probably be better, to at least fill a fullsize keyboard. Though, TBH, it seems most people are doing TKL or less these days anyway, so...

Diodes are for actual switches to provide NKRO, as far as I know.  Resistors are what you add when you install LEDs to get to proper voltage for light intensity.  Cherry switches are the same--just that the PCB kind has 2 extra pins made of plastic at the bottom for extra support when inserted directly into a PCB as opposed to plate first, then PCB.

for the KMAC, I had to put the NKRO diodes back in the switches. I mistyped, and did it for the ergoDOX not the phantom

LED's are also diodes that are almost always used for indication or illumination (lighting) purposes, but can also be sued for other things, like Specialty CCS (Constant Current Sources)
