Found a New York distributor/retailer? for a mix of Cherry MX Whites (Plate, Diode, PCB)
http://www.newyorksemi.com/index_part_en_MX1A11NN.phtml
They've got:
8759 Plate mounted ones by Cherry
86 Plate mounted ones by "PCherry"
402 PCB mounted ones by "unknown"
52923 PCB mounted ones by Cherry
402 Diode ones by Cherry
=62572 MX White switches. I know it's not near 100k nvm just read you were going to order ~10k haha., but there's about half of the MX White PCB mounted switches in there  :)
If everyone orders about ~100 switches, that's enough for 625 people  :p

Fingers crossed that the prices will be competitive. 50k PCB mounted switches

What...62k Cherry switches don't just disappear into thin air . Did you inquire about the plate ones too or just PCB mounted?

Yeah, that's why he's looking into it for me. :P I would like to get PCB mounted but would resort to plate mounted if they do not have any PCB mount.

so who's going to write the obituary for mx white switches lol

even if there are some left over mx whites sitting somewhere in a warehouse, its clear from cherry (if you guys are telling the truth) that white mx switches are dead and im almost sure its because of the inconsistent click. So...... RIP MX Whites.

btw whites with 45g korean springs are like the bomb, new favorite switch; lighter than blues with a different "muffled" click and perfect tactile bump.

STAHP. I need to get my hands on some MX Whites before they go extinct! - Twirls thumbs while we wait for TFR to update us-

What causes the inconsistent click? Is it just poor lubing?

its probably the lubing, i have played around with re-lubing white switches and its pretty easy to destroy its ability click (and the tactile bump) with lubing areas around the slider too much

I guess its kinda like lubing a blue switch stem to much?

If it doesn't click, then why not just rinse the lube out and use it bare/re-lube it?

yeah correct. the stems are VERY similar

well depends how you go about that, i don't think rinsing is a good idea, wiping off the best you can maybe. you wont totally be able to lube it the same way as the cherry machines did unless someone discovers the exact way and material it is done with.

IF i got it right the mx White is just a lubed mx green? Why don´t you just lube your greens + you get your consistant click

there could be some difference other than lubing, i just don't have the correct measurement tools and i don't have green switches as well.

but i bet ya someone on DT/Geekhack/Reddit has already performed the research lol.

The bottom out force required for whites is about 10cN less than greens. Could be a different spring or just the lube., can't remember. The sound is definitely different, and I'd prefer a subtle click than a high pitched one from blues/greens.

SpAmRaY, that QF TK? of yours, is it a CM prototype or did you mod it? I recall someone saying CM made a protoype board with whites last time I made a thread about MX Whites... And you sold it :( Damn.

Ripster claims the legs are different but everyone else seems to think they are the same. There has been speculation the slider part is made of a slightly different material as well.

For me using green and white boards back to back, I definitely preferred white but I just like clears at the end of the day. I've had many people say greens and whites feel the same but to me the whites are much smoother, probably due to lube, and greens seem to have a sharper click and for some reason I found greens fatiguing.

It's not a QF TK it is a fullsize XT and it is a factory prototype/sample. Carter said he couldn't tell enough difference between white and green to warrant recommending they produce boards with whites.

I see but if you would have lubed greens it would be a clickier white?

Would need a rough estimate of how many switches you guys require before I can check.

I'd get at least enough for one keyboard, possibly two. Based on the length of this thread there are a few others in a similar situation. My guess is that there is interest for at least 1000pcs, more if the price is better.

I'm actually about to put in a very large order with our UK supplier - so could potentially increase that order quantity to make them even cheaper for you guys?

I'm still interested in these. Please let us know what you find! XD
