sure buy a thicker wire, then what, show me an affordable bender for it and something to cleanly cut it

To bend, use these:

And to cut, use these:

and this, to make the cut smooth:

Just beware of what you're cutting when you're making stab wires.  If you're using music wire, it's hardened steel and may not cut easily with anything.  I actually dented my tin snips trying to cut that stuff.  :(  That was not smart.  Depending on the hardness, you may have to use a dremel tool to cut it, rather than snipping it.

Also, coat hangers are super soft metal, and thickness is only relevant if it's the same material.  I know that discussion is kind of over, but it needs to be said.  :)

Carry on.

Has anyone heard from TJ recently? I supposedly won a Mimic cable in a competition a while back but I haven't got it and he never answers my PM's any more.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

He is probably afraid for his life in this thread right now. Haha...

Honestly, if it was me, I would want to have something positive to report before getting involved in this thread. This thread could suck up far more of his time than it would be worth, especially if he is strapped for time.

Positive thoughts and let's get that karma flowing in the right direction. :)

It's not like people are asking for much, just a rough timeline and answering whether or not he'd do staggered shipping so that those with PCBs or PCBs and plates only can get theirs quicker.

If we got regular updates of everything is status quo, at least we'd have an update.  I'm annoyed since we're just being ignored.  I don't have as much money as some in this, but when I put the money in, it was a lot for me.  It'd be nice to have our investment treated with respect and know when we'll get stuff.  I mean, Sprit's R1 is already much faster than this.  I just got my PCB, plate, and stabilizers from him this weekend and only paid a couple of months ago.  At this rate, it will be two years since I paid before I get my GH60 stuff.

Yes. I agree with you. Updates would be appreciated and are well deserved.

I also got my sprit orders which I am very happy about. Gotta give that guy credit, he has been working really hard to keep his GB going in the right direction. With all the soldering he took on, it's remarkable.

Something super simple like "hey i'm not dead and the PCBs exist, but there's really nothing to say until the other parts get handled, see ya next year!" would suffice. At least then i could write it off as a loss and figure out where to go from here.

In fact, i'll just pretend he said that, and proceed accordingly.

It's a life lesson: when people don't answer questions, you fill in the blank for them.

He hasn't posted here: that means he doesn't want to. The guy holding the stuff doesn't want to communicate with us. That means whatever it means. Every other instance i can recall, in which such conditions were present, the result was lost money and no stuff, and a rigid disinclination toward further dealings. I wonder if this time will be different.

Oh well. Lesson learned i suppose.

Easy now. The answer will come when it comes. Life is messy and complicated.

I for one am just looking forward to the surprise GH60. After this much time, I consider it a gift from past-me to future-me. Isn't that super exciting?

;)

I'm trying to be patient, but this is ridiculous. No timeline, No pictures, no indication that the GH60 isn't just vaporware. Obviously no one cares, but still i'll say it: I'm sitting here with an empty keyboard shell on my desk. I'm wiling to wait, but I want to assemble the bloody keyboard at some point. Maybe we can consider just open sourcing the final PCB revision? At this point I would rather just get it fabbed myself or pay for a Chinese manufacturer on Taobao.

Not Rev C. which has some bugfixes and changes (for the LED module for example).

1. No timeline, No pictures, no indication that the GH60 isn't just vaporware.
2. Maybe we can consider just open sourcing the final PCB revision? At this point I would rather just get it fabbed myself or pay for a Chinese manufacturer on Taobao.

1. There were pictures of the plates. Not sure if there were pictures of the PCBs yet.
2. Great idea, so people who are waiting for this GB get their products after somebody who hasn't been waiting for all this time? That's totally going to make everybody happy, right?

Isn't that exactly what's happening with mkawa's latest titanium GB?  They'll be getting a functional latest revision GH60 before us at this rate.

I still want to know why the organizers find time to post elsewhere, but can't post an update.

That's still an interest check and I don't think mkawa will get GH60s made before the GB ends. He was not part of the GH60 GB organizers afaik and should not even have access to the GH60 Rev C files unless they were shared with him.

In the interest check thread it says that he has an agreement with Komar007 to use the Rev C files.

TJ's Paypal account.  And it's not all fun and games holding that much money while we wait for this to complete - just sayin.

Actually this was the state a few months ago, before the ball really got rolling again.  At this point, I'm sure some of it has been spent (plates and such), and some may be waiting for future decisions to be made still.

I've updated my post.  I remember a few months ago it was sitting in his paypal waiting for things to happen, but that's likely not true at this point anymore, as some has gone to production of parts already.  I was basing my post off old information without realizing that things have happened since then.

4 sure.
Until we know that money are still in good hands it's only a matter of time.
And anyone around here i bet have something to type on already ;-)
Unfortunately lately we've learned that a total lack of communication is an omen of a disaster.
So i hope TJ can find the time to post something here (even if he's cursing the day he took this responsibility)

haha.. well I was quite enthusiastic to jump on the "custom mechanical keyboard" train, so I put in an order for a GH60, purchased a DSA Dolch set because there was an ISO DSA Dolch companion group buy, and I bought a 60% Tex aluminium case.

You're tellin' me.  I ordered 3 GH60s and over the span of a few months I procured 3 cases (one of them being the TEX aluminium case).  I've resorted to simply shuffling my Poker II around between them until these come in.   :))

lol, you guys... I know everyone is rustled right now, but everything is being worked out.
maybe not to your liking, but it's moving along.

TJ didn't sign up for this, it was dropped in his lap.

When the angry mob is knocking on your door, are you gonna answer to explain??? NOPE

Even if he came here and explained every detail of what's going on, most of you would still
have something ****ty to snap at him about.

This GB started WAY TO EARLY, not to mention it was further delayed by most of you wanting
led's and other bull****.
This GB should not have started without a final pcb in sight, but it didn't happen.
This GB should have had a solid backbone running it, but it didn't happen.

You should all be encouraging TJ to want to update, not angry mob demanding...
Then again, I don't run again thing here... xD
Here's to seeing a return on my $600...

Bag of modified switches sitting around, sets of caps sitting around... at least I was able to convince myself to hold off on making the cases until later, otherwise those would be sitting around as well.

I really really want these boards, they are going to be the holy grail of keyboards to finish my search (no faith in any of the Alps projects honestly).

But then again my latest group buy participation that wasn't run by SP was the DSA Dolch... now I just have a bad taste in my mouth about this.

To clarify, I was not intending to add to any mob that may be forming, or incite any negative feelings toward TJ for my situation or anyone's here.  I was just sharing a story that I find amusing.  Not in a spiteful way towards any organizers, more just as a "one up" to how deep we are in this.   :thumb:

I have faith in this GB.  It is moving slow, but it is moving!

Neither I.
I was just trying to cheer me up a little with a bad joke ...
I love my ashtray!

As someone already said above: when it cames it will be a gift.

To be totally honest I know that organizing a GB is a total ****ing disgusting task - dealing with money, expectations and delays (that are out of our control) are a real PITA. The most annoying thing is that, most of time, you not even make money with GB - you do just for fun or to make easier things that you are interested in. And I bet that sometimes you get that idea to throw everything away.

Thanks god I'm not involved into the organization of this GB.

The angry mob sucks!
Thanks for all you guys organizing this GB, cheer up!
