Definitely interested in the plate and PCB, not too hot about the case. Doesn't look too great IMO.

Would I be able to use the 3000 plate in the Cherry case with ease? I'd love to convert some of my G80 boards.

If you go with 3000 PCB+plate option 2), it will fit in your stock cherry case.  But you'd have to do some desoldering and soldering.

Great to see another 1800 all aluminum keyboard being made again.  Now all the newbs out there can finally get a chance to own a truly REAL keyboard with it's own layout that very few people dare copy anywhere on this planet.

Thank you yuiop for letting us know and I hope you will carry this through from ordering to complete delivery into our hot little hands.  Please let us know what other colours are going to be available for the face plate.

I just built an original leeku 1800 for CPTbadass and I am in the process of building one for Ninjadoc, and I have to say that it is one sexy board, and the backlighting modes are awesome. I would deffinetly be interested in at least the PCB and plate combo!

I will say that if you're unsure about the Leeku 1800 PCB, you should get it. I'm very happy with my board. I bet it would be even better with a metal case but I'm quite happy with my Dolch case.

Since 1800 is not the most popular layout, I'm trying to gauge interest to see if there's enough interest to warrant an official group buy here.

I don't have a BLACK version hence put me down for that.  Besides Black is always better than any other colour  :thumb: .

Another thing with the Green PCB, wouldn't it be covered up with the stainless steel plate for some reason, hence you won't even see the PCB colour at all?

So is this going to be exclusive to those who have connections over at kbd or will we have an official group buy here?

Since 1800 is not the most popular layout, I'm trying to gauge interest to see if there's enough interest to warrant an official group buy here.

The 1800 is God's way of letting geeks know, that this is the SUPERIOR way to enlightenment and wisdom.  Moron's using the standard keyboard layout need to be aligned with the truth, that the 1800 is all you need in the world of keyboards.

Please never fall in with narrow minded tossers pushing their own inferior keyboard versions upon you, the 1800 Cherry is the only REAL Keyboard that has ever been produced on this planet.

This Group Buy MUST go forth and provide the true worshipers here, with their reliance of supreme perfection on Earth  8) .

Thanks for your words of wisdom, Elrick  ;D

And you're right about the pcb.  Once you assemble everything and put it in a case - whether it's a cherry, dolch, alu case etc - the pcb will be completely covered up.  But I understand why some people want their pcbs in certain colors.  The chances are no one will ever know/care what's inside your keyboard.  But when you open it up for every once it a while, you don't wanna see that fugly green in there :-X

Thanks for registering interest, everyone!
I think we already have enough to make a push for non-green pcbs.
I personally think red is just as ugly as green.....so I'd say we go with white.
Feel free to voice your opinion though.

Also I'd like to ask your opinions on plate materials.  Just to get an idea on demand.
SS, Alu or Polycarb. which one would you choose?

Thanks for registering interest, everyone!
I think we already have enough to make a push for non-green pcbs.
I personally think red is just as ugly as green.....so I'd say we go with white.
Feel free to voice your opinion though.

Also I'd like to ask your opinions on plate materials.  Just to get an idea on demand.
SS, Alu or Polycarb. which one would you choose?

I vote alu to keep costs down.

Well, I will probably buy some 3000 PCBs/plates. I have 2 already and they're great. However, I won't be using the plates, so my PCBs will be visible between the switches. Red looks really nice in the Leeku 3000s I've done so far. I'm not so sure about white or green.

Vote for alu plate and "fugly" green PCB. I don't like white PCB personally. It's not very vintage looking.

Please never fall in with narrow minded tossers pushing their own inferior keyboard versions upon you, the 1800 Cherry is the only REAL Keyboard that has ever been produced on this planet.

Definitely Stainless Steel because anything else would be sub-standard and that's not what we are about here on Geekhack.

I wanna red pcb & alu plate. But alu case is quite heavy, so i think i 'll use cherry case instead. I hope they 'll fit cherry case :)

How easy is it to put the assembled PCB/plate into a plastic 1800 case? The usb port is in the middle on Leeku PCB while both 1800 cases I have (G80-1838 and G81-7000) have the wire on the right. Is there a lot of interior space to direct the wire from middle to right?

EDIT: I just observed there seemed to be USB port place on the right too. Does the PCB support both USB port position?

If you're using it with an original case, you only use the USB port for programming. Then you solder a USB or PS2 cable to the four cable pins.

BTW, why do you guys like 1800 over 3000?

Also, any chance of getting a white 3000 PCB + plate combo?

I would love to upgrade my G80-3000

I like the 1800 over the 3000, for the layout, for one it provides a layout similar to modern laptop keyboard layouts. Also my work involves a fair amount of usage of the arrow keys, and they just feel at a more natural location for me on the 1800.

It should fit G81 case.  I'm not sure about shaving things off.  Maybe someone else could answer it.....

for the same reason people prefer TKL over full size board?
1800 is smaller and doesn't take up as much desk space and still has 99% of the keys.

It doesn't look like there's enough demand for 3000 pcbs to produce another batch in different color.

Thanks for the explanation! I just never used a 1800 before and wasn't aware of its smaller size.

I do have two G80-3000 keyboards though, one that has a broken PCB. I am definitely in for a 3000 plate + PCB combo.

The only thing I don't like about the case is the N C S over the LEDs. I think it would look better without that. I still want the board though.

I might be in for this. I also agree that the case would look better without the LED "legends."

Are the Raptor K1 cases different, structurally, from the Cherry 1800 cases so that they can't take the Leeku PCB and Plate?

Off the top of my head I remember these for the 1800:
- All LEDs on - All LEDS on at max brightness (Dictated by resistors used)
- Pulsing LEDs - The LEDs fade in/out
- LEDs on when typing - LEDs light up when you press a key
- LEDs off when typing - LEDs stay on when not typing, so as soon as you press a key, they turn off
- LEDs off  - No LEDs on, ever.

I'll update once again, once I get back home.

Any idea on when the GB will start? I'm interested in the 3000 PCB and Plate.

  • NOT compatible with stock Cherry 1800 case/PCB

What case do you use with this PCB & Plate,Karura?

Where does it say that? It says it's not compatible with the Leeku case, but is with the 1800 (so in my case, the 3000) cases.

Sorry my bad. I read OP uncarefully :(

TX1800; PCB & Plate is not compatible with Cherry case/PCB. I thought that is PCB in optional
All PCBs in optional is compatible Cherry stock case. Thanks for your help to understand exactly.

Does this Leeku support Alps mount switches? If so is there a plate to go with them? Or at least a drawing of one?

So I'm still wondering, does the actual GB have a start date, or is it still in the IC stage?

I will ask the factory to make without Lettering...
But it's highly unlikely.

I like it, damn I was waiting for the Light saver but I think this one might look better and hopefully does not have the software problems that the Light saver has as I read here on the forums. I'm in for 1 complete order: case,PBC,plate. Got few questions:

1. Will there be ridges opened on the plate around the switch mounting square holes so we can remove the top covers if we need to clean up, asking this cause today I ended up cleaning my TrikX that had around 20 keys that had chatter because of dust.....

2. The back of the keyboard looks exactly like my TrikX, is this the same guy that made the TrikX case that will be making this one?

3. Color options on the steel plate? or just silver?

I'm in on this one and if there is any type of vote for PCB colors, this is the colors I would go most: Black PCB or White PCB, not too crazy about the red PCB, but the green one simple screams like the old PCB's back in the old days, yellow also is horrible.

1) can open switch without desoldering
2) same designer... you're right.
3) plate has 3 options (SUS. silver ALU. clear sanded PC)
* pcb color options... not yet.

cool I like the fact that is the same designer of the keyboard, I'm impressed with the TrikX design and heftiness.

Just wondering, do you guys prefer silver alu, or stainless steel for the plate? Would one be better than the other, and in what way?

my opinion the steel is better because is more durable, specially when fitting new keycaps and they need to be pressed harder in order for them to fit to the bottom of the stem, aluminum might be flaky for this sort of thing. they both wont rust and steel is stronger, I would think steel is better choice, also isn't steel cheaper than the aluminum too?

Generally...
AL plate is for white or brown switch(clear)
SUS plate is for black or red switch(linear)
PC plate is for blue switch(click)
But... It's personal taste.. :D

STAINLESS STEEL is always better than Aluminum, but if you want colour, the Aluminum plate delivers (if there are colours to choose).

Tentatively interested. Depending on when the GB starts.

BTW, why do you guys like 1800 over 3000?
for the same reason people prefer TKL over full size board?
1800 is smaller and doesn't take up as much desk space and still has 99% of the keys.

It doesn't look like there's enough demand for 3000 pcbs to produce another batch in different color.

Because it basically puts a full-size layout in a TKL-width package. ;)

Why would it be hard to find a Cherry set? There are tons of old Cherry G80-1800 boards available on eBay and TaoBao. Heck, I harvested a NIB 1800 just last month for a great set of PBT 1800 keycaps.

Woah, we have the choice of black cases? That makes me a lot more interested in the Leeku case, instead of retrofitting a Cherry case with the plate.

Absolutely in for this, 1800 + Grey case.  My pref is for the stainless steel plate.
Is 1.25x-1.25x-1.25x-6.25x-1.5x-1.5x a valid bottom row layout?
It looks like it from the PCB pictures, but I just would like to double check.

Thanks!

Does the 2) PCB + Plate Combo option also come in this configuration?

If so, I definitely might consider that.
