I will let everyone knows what I'm going to do after I'm done collecting the votes from those ordered the kit. Then people will know that what I do suits minority or majority. That's why I let you vote for it instead of deciding it myself.

Because I'm the one who made the mistake not including the Esc in Row 2 at the first place, so I will try to fix it now. This 23 Commando set will be run one time only, so if you don't have the key you want now, it would be very hard for you to look for it later. So I care about the Esc key in row 2 as much as the Up arrow key in Row 3, if you think you might need it in the future, just give me the notes.

I myself don't want to make any change at all, just more work for me to do. Even one person does not like the result of the poll and don't want to pay for what he does not like, I undestand and I will refund you if you want.

Offering the Esc key in Row 2 separately surely is a solution. I've thought of it before I made the poll. But if all the people ordered the kit are happy with the replacement, we can have what we want with no extra money.

And you guys don't forget the "Anything else do you need?" in the order form. At the end I believe I can try to provide what extra keys you need. Of course SP may cause a little trouble.

the impact cost of 1u over the whole set would be so small. Can you ask SP? Maybe they would even add it for free.

I will ask for it. The problem is our order is not so big. I tried to ask for some keys before but the prices were not good (doubleshot lock keys, deepdish keys...)

Anyway, because some people promised to pay after the first Friday of next month, so the deadline of payment is September 9, I will cancel the unpaid invoices after that so we can go on.

Yes you guys should pay me quickly...

Hey, who said I'll bail if I don't get what I want?  Regardless of my earlier typing, I will still pay and wait for whatever comes out of SP here.

I just got miffed when I read about the beautiful ESC key, but that's just ONE key that will go missing with the top arrow.  As long as you don't go deforming any MORE keys I'm still happy with getting your current design of the SA profiles.

So please bring it on  :thumb: .

People, look at the keycaps you have on your keyboard right now. All 4 arrow keys are the same profile. The Row 3 arrow key is for certain cherry boards that use the arrow keys in a cross pattern, with a key in the middle.

No one loses anything by dropping the Row 3 arrow, and some people who use mini layouts will gain a correct profile ESC key.

Okay, now that you have clarify that I get it.
All keys should be Row 4.

@jil,
While it was an oversight that you did not include the Row 2 Esc key, I think you shouldn't beat yourself over it.

Actually, as someone pointed out, the row profiles are different for this set than a standard DCS-profile set.

Thinking about the row profiles for SA makes my head hurt. I checked the wiki on Deskthority, and the images for the Round4 SPH set show most keys are Row 3 profile. Is this correct?

Don't change anything, just add the extra escape and if people don't want to pay the extra $2 then I will cover them. Worst case scenario that is like $100, but I think most on this kit will not have problem with $2 more and then nothing needs to be removed.

If its around $100 and most people don't agree to it, I'll split the cost with you 50-50.

Will make some changes to my order (adding kits) but not before the weekend (need to look some stuff up first) so hope the ordering doesn't close until then.

I also support adding the key and paying the extra $2. It's only a bonus and a small cost to pay for making this set more awesome.

Have you tried PMing / e-mailing the non-payers?  I see some of them active on the site, posting.  Takaki's been difficult to get ahold of for his acrylic case GB, but did post an update recently.

Yes, I believe I did send PMs / emails / Paypal reminders to those who hasn't paid several times. Some answered, some didn't. Takaki is one of them who didn't tell me anything. I will wait untill the deadline comes then cancel every unpaid invoice. And those who doesn't bother to reply me please join GBs run by others from now on, I'm afraid I can't serve them anymore.

Jil_jil32, all they will do is rejoin Geekhack under another 'name' and probably do the same thing again in the future.  Remember this is the internet, home for scumbags and liars - that can change their identity as easy as changing their socks in the morning.

Different kind of group buy, this uses tiers so commitment has to be measured before final quote and invoice.

Payment upfront > Partial Refund?
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

Payment upfront > Partial Refund?

That might be a solution, but some people wait until a certain price tier is reached.

If you do it this way, these people might not participate, because they'd have to gamble and hope a certain price is met.

I guess there is no perfect solution ;)

the perfect solution is to set a tier based on the IC and set that fixed price point. You pay upfront, if you don't reach the tier you close the GB and send money back. If you reach a higher tier you make a partial refund. pretty easy actually.

NEWS & UPDATES

I have some tweaks to the final kits. Don't worry please, I just want to make it better.

1/ Firstly, about the Standard kit

     - You must notice the new legends PG UP and PG DN will be used for this set instead of PAGE UP & PAGE DOWN.
     - The SHIFT legends will be re-cut for proper looking purpose (the current ones are not good enough)

2/ Secondly, about the Upgrade kit 01

     - Some minor details of the artworks of symbol keys (23 symbol, commando skull symbol) had been removed so the legends now are doable. I can say every new symbol key is good to go now, the Eagle return key is a bit hard though.

3/ Thirdly, about the Upgrade kit 02

     - I've decided to add the ESC key in ROW2 into the kit thanks to the poll results and the supports of many generous guys here.

=> I need only $75 more so any previous generous guy who can give me a hand please say it :thumb:

Well that doesn't sound bad in regards to the extra $75 for the esc key.

Depends how you want to split it. I'll pay the $75, but I hope some of the previous people who offered to help can help.

It would be great to get at least 2 more people so we can split it as 3 x $25=$75.

If about the same people offer to help as before, it will cut the cost down between us.

Probably way too late for this, but you know what would be great for this set? "[" and "]" keys in row 2, and "+" and "-" keys in row 3. If you had that then you could make a Dvorak layout board with this perfectly. All the letters are already the same profile but those four keys also get switched for Dvorak.

There are enough spare keys with the right profile to do it anyway, if you don't mind the legends being a little wrong, which is what I plan to do. But still.
