Here is an update regarding GMK Jamón:

OK, let's start with the huge elephant in the room: still no kit updates.

Updating the kits didn't really take me that much, in fact it was quite the opposite honestly specially since I knew exactly how I wanted to make them. However, since I was going to have to remake the whole keyboard gallery, and all the kits presentation and descriptions, I thought it would be the perfect chance for me to scrap the current project page on my site and start from scratch.

This is obviously taking me longer than just updating some renders and the kits, but I think it's worth it and that's enough for me.

Now, let's talk a little bit about color matching to solve some concerns that have raised because of other keycap projects.

Like I've addressed on a previous post, many of the colors used from this set will be standard or I have already used them in the past (standard N9 dark grey, N6 yellow, Serika's alphas) and for some other I do not have a final answer. This is the case of the alphas and modifiers. While GMK offers some standard colors that are close to what I want (R01 for the alphas and P3 for the modifiers) neither of them are exactly what I want. Yes, they are close, but not exactly what I want. And while the difference is small, it's enough to bother me. So, for those two colors, we are going to do some color matching and if we manage to get something that I like more we'll use it, if not, we'll use the standard colors.

For the color matching, we are going to use the same system we used for Serika, we'll stick to the RAL color palette which was actually super accurate and worked really well. This process should be faster now that I own one.

I was pining hard for Jamon earlier this year and picked up Ceresia and Burgundy.  "White" accents in top photo are epbt BoW and in the bottom, OG Cherry off-white.

I can't comment as to whether these are a direct match, but it was close enough.

I usually map the function key on my keyboards to the Caps Lock key.  Is there any way you can add an R3 1.75u function key to replace the Caps Lock key?  It doesn't need to be a Fn or Function key, it could be something generic like Meta or Super, a novelty, or even a blank.

The reason I haven't added them is partly because there's there are no plans to run the Pearl again, and since there's only around 100 of them, its userbase is very limited. On the other hand Vortex Core, DDMicro, and Plancks have lots of stock and the current kit also allows for most of the 40% layouts which trim the left side 0.5U and use a 1.75U enter key.

- Possible kit updates: So, most people have suggested about the new kits to add some of the what I'd call "splitbars" to the spacebar kit (or add a second 2.00U spacebar). Since I'd prefer not having duplicate spacebars, I'm probably going to add a 2.00, 2.25, and 2.75U accent spacebar to the spacebar kit. Regarding the addition of R3 1.50 Tab and Enter keys I'll have to think about it.

- Deskmats: since both deskmats use patterns, I don't think we should have any issues to make a small mat version.

Honestly I hope the modifiers do turn out closer to P3 than something like RO2.

Even *if* this set turned out similar to burgundy alphas + ceresia mods I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing, and there's still enough going on with the accents to really make it pop and set it apart from those other sets as a whole.

Now that I'm looking at it on a different (better calibrated) monitor I actually like the new colors more. I think that like Nautilus or Laser, this is going to be one of those sets I have to see irl to really appreciate it. In any case count me in for pretty much every kit haha

Really liking these proposed updated kits! I appreciate you trying to squeeze the splitbars into the spacebars kit. I was planning on picking up the Jamónelties anyway, so moving the accents from the Core doesn't matter much to me.

Not sure whether I like the new colors as much, I really liked the vibrancy of the previous mods. But the set still looks amazing and I'll definitely be for most kits! :D

I've just received some GMK Jamón deskmat samples and they look fantastic, I really like the result and how the colors look like. Once I get samples from GMK, I'll try to take some pics to see how they look together. The hexagon red looks awesome and could be used with blue sets like Nautilus too.

The other one is also superb and looks fantastic with red keyboards.

As much as I'd love to see some accent colors in the core kit, I think the way you've done it is the best way to keep the cost down.
I'd rather have a lower entry price than accents so I'm crossing my fingers for you.  GL!
