Round 4 had stepped caps lock, so they have the mold :) (I just took these pictures):

Oh DAMN..... This has to go Officially into the GROUP BUY section as soon as possible.

I'm already into the Camouflage Jil_jil32's SA key-set and this Blue Dolch will be another one I'll fall for.  Mainly because I just love to see it with a stepped Caps Lock.

Bring this baby on down to Group Buy City  8) .

If you look at the keys SA has in their SA family you can see they do have stepped caps, not sure about off center,  let me check.

We're doing profiles like the Commando 23 set, which was discussed earlier in this thread. It's the easiest and best solution to the profile issue.

Here's an example.

Row 1 : Row 2 : Row 3: Row 3 : Row 3 : Row 4

So all of the alphas will be the same profile.

TBH, I got into this because each row had a different profile so that the caps created a shape for the fingers. If all the alphas have the same profile then it'd just make this a set of taller DSA caps. While I'm not necessarily out at this point, I am really hesitant to put down money for this.

Also, I don't know if anyone said this or not, but using Row 4 for the bottom row and possibly the spacebar is going to really hurt the thumbs.

I'm pretty sure that SP won't make new extra-thumbhurting row 4 spacebar molds exclusively for this GB and that space bars only exist in one profile in SA, so we will get that profile.

Alright, well that's one less apprehension I have about this group buy.

When I read this, I reached for the lead pipe eager to convince you of your serious error in judgement.  How could you not like this Profile?

Only ingrates and idiots wouldn't like an SA profile.  Because they have never owned it before or heard something from someone else, who thinks it is unsuitable.  Relying on hearsay is dangerous as hell.

Besides for too many years most of the SP Group Buys have centered around DCS and nothing else.  Sick of that and would love to see more and more SA Love coming out of Signature Plastics.

I was checking out the Wang terminal keyboard, the only one I have with SA profile caps, and it uses Row3 for the entire number block, plus all the stand-alone modifiers (Erase, Clear, Load, Run, etc.).  Unless you look closely, the different key profiles don't stand out, I think having multiple rows in Row3 profile would be fine.

Could you please post a side profile picture of the keyboard? It is a bit hard to see what you are talking about with the top down view.

I'll work on this when I get home.  At the moment all the caps are off the keyboard, but it shouldn't take long to replace them for a few pictures.

It's a lovely keyboard, if it wasn't foam-and-foil under the hood I'd be tempted to try some sort of converter to make it  usable on a modern PC.

Okay, some pics of SA profile keys on an actual keyboard.   ;D

First, some images of all profiles.

Row1 - Row2 - Row3 - Row4
34190-0

Some more shots
34194-1
34196-2

Images of Row3 only - you may be able to see the difference against the regular rows in the background.

Numpad with all Row3
34192-3
(I think that zero key is upside-down...)
34198-4
34200-5

Full keyboard shot
34202-6

Edit: the PCB for this keyboard is not fully aligned with the top case, in the shots of the number pad you can see the PCB is lower towards the front of the case.

I also took a few shots with the proposed keys swapped - substituting Row3 for Row4.

Stock version:
34204-0
IC version with dual Row3 caps:
34206-1

Couple more shots with the swapped Row3 cap:
34208-2
34210-3

As do I!

I've been trying to cast some replicas of these, with regular Cherry stems, but that's still a work-in-progress.  Massive keys, especially those two-row FN keys and odd-ball Return keys.  Look like they could withstand a nuclear bomb and still work.   :p

Thanks for the pictures. The differences between using row 3 for all alphas and using regular rows are really small. That took away a lot of the apprehension I had.

And doing it this way takes away a lot of the issues with matching profiles, as SP doesn't have modifiers in every profile and opens up opportunities for swapping around the alphas for different layouts.

I thought we weren't going all row 3? Im fine with going all row 3, but I think many other people will have a problem with that.

All row 3 for the three alpha rows only -- different rows for numbers/function keys/ spacebar row mods/ etc.

This is what the commando GB is doing as well, and it let them get correctly-sized keys for all the mods (R4 had short shifts/enter).

I brought this up before on this thread. Twice I think.

Same error happened on the commando gb until I brought it up.
