thanks, metalliqaz and photoelectric. (only 1-2 things left to do on it, and one of them is the liner mod to dampen the sound; though I'm still thinking if I want to do it. It adds a little bit of weight to it, and this set is supposed to be my portable set up).

@Moz - according to where I got it cut, it's labelled as Opaque White. It's actually glossy.

its time for me to take pointers from you when I move on to ergodox #3 - which will likely take forever, as I plan to mod my spare pcbs into something non-stock this time, and have no idea whatsoever where to begin.

Miami on a NON-WORKING RK9000

in a bit of angry rage right now,

This was one of those $25 RK9000s from early this year which i harvested the red switches and was going to trash the board but i decided to keep it. Parts was sitting in closet, decided to put dark-grey switches in it, painted it, painted the plate and case, soldered the switches in and it doesnt even blink, thing is dead. I may have broken it way back when i desoldered it, it was the first board i ever desoldered. Always remember kids, test the pcb before soldering your switches in!!!

Some 2x3x4mm rectangular ones I got from an ebay UK seller. here

Didn't change anything else on the board, just swapped the LEDs. The brightness is just right.

I'll have to give that a try, I've got a couple of different types of LEDs in the parts bin. Not sure about red, but I know I've got green, might be brighter than the stock items.
