Welp, it took me way longer than I expected since I had a bit of an issue with lifting pads but here it is. My Kingsaver now has Blue Alps. And it works, I'm actually typing on it right now to make this post. I'm very very happy to finally have this board and have the proper switches in it! :D

Now if only I could find some Alps keycaps/novelties...And I'll post a proper build log later.

Very cool.  Will you be needing that Zero anymore  ;D

Yes, it's different. It's because the number of coins in the grey springs are more than in clear springs. It makes the clear has stiffer force. Actually, clear has a unique spring which is very different with light (blue, brown, red) heavy (black) and very heavy (grey, green) springs from Cherry. Therefore, if we compare between Clears and Grey, at first, Clear is lighter but at the bottom out point, I believe they are both heavy the same (100g).

Well they are stiff but thats in the nature of the switch. They might be fatiguing for someone who is used to very light switches. I do not find it fatiguing and I type with far less errors then I did with the same board on mx browns.

As far as I know, the grey tactile (dark grey) did not have that kind of document but the force graph of dark grey should be the same (or a bit heavier) because light grey and dark grey use the same spring.

I think the one he enclosed is the one public from Cherry Corp

Had an idea while exercising this morning: My SP Caps Lock would look better if it were windowed.

So this afternoon, I broke out my toolbox and made one.  The "window" was cut from a translucent SP keycap of the same profile.

I used a dremel with a cutting disc and then some sand paper.  :'( I marked the cut-out with masking tape but couldn't get the corners square enough.  I think I need a small file.

Another option is that instead of a window, I make the transparent cutout run all the way to the bottom of the keycap.  I think this would be easier.

This was a test before I cut into my center-stem stepped caps lock and my hyperfuse caps lock.

I suppose this is the most proper thread to put this, I "added" matte black paint to my vortex aluminum case. I did so much to this and it took an incredible amount of time but it is finally done and I am just letting it dry completely as well as I need to lube the switches before I can put the board back together.

Things I added were the paint, duh, and JB weld to the LED holes to get rid of them, and JB weld to the little gap between the top and bottom of the keyboard case. Might not seem like a lot of work but it was, also I initially painted it a different color before this but I wasn't happy with the paint so I had to strip it all down and sand it, prime it, and paint it all over again.

Potato pics, sorry. (Bad white balance, dusty, etc)

But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Very nice combo!

I see this a lot where the space bar is pointing towards the typist. Is it made like that or do people just turn them around?

I request a typing video!

I actually have a little tripod I found the other day. I'll try and see if I can make a typing video.

Please bring this to KeyCon <3

Ok. But now I can only bring 1 or 2 other boards :P

Great album, I bought the yellow press and the black Vinyl.

Yesterday, Binge transcended into the realm of legends by adding a vinyl record to his keyboard.  Come all, and marvel in his glory.

So aesthetic. Want to build something similar soon.

Congrats.

I got a new board today. My fist mechanical keyboard at that.

Leopold FC660M; brown cherry switches; black case; and just replaced the caps with blank white caps.

Well, replaced all except modifiers. Will do those when I have a second keycap puller.

Will post pictures once I have some colorful modifiers. I added myself to the latest cherry keycap group buy, so will be receiving some soon.

Enjoy your boards!
