so the 1800 mock up shows it having a 1x + key which isn't shown in the numpad mock up. I was wondering if that is mentioned elsewhere as being included?

i've been trying to avoid anymore SP GB, but keep coming back to it as its just so nice looking  :-\

I will make sure that key is included if you order sir

It will be included, here's a quote from some time ago:

Here you go.  While I was making this, I noticed that the 1800 needs a 1x "+" for the numpad, whereas the set, as currently laid out, only offers a 2x "+".  But the mock up assumes a 1x "+"

(Attachment Link)

does any know if this was fixed or made aware to bunny?

yeah i havent changed the mockups, but itll all be included

awesome, thanks!
ok i'll hop on for my 1st SA profile caps. this is too nice looking, so my eyes say thanks and my wallet says ^^&*#@!()$

Re ErgoDox set, I'd be much happier with ergonomics over position customizability (IOW not all R3). I'd also be much happier with beautifully colored keys and legends (as in the normal set) over blanks.

Overall I'd be happy with proper row QWERTY keys that look and feel beautiful. I can remember any layout changes in my head...

The issue with legended mods in ergodox is that almost everyone will want to put different keys in different places. this is doable if all keys are uniform profile but would probably get gnarly otherwise.

Would you want profiled modifiers even if the alphas they sit against are uniform?

I know what the issue is, and I'm saying that I value ergonomics and pretty pretty colors (including legends colors) over correct legends. Mostly I value the ergonomics but that implies immovable keys so in that case I'd rather have nice legends than blanks. So I'd rather have the default ED layout in the legends and keep my modifications in my head.

I wasn't suggesting uniform alphas.

no they are discussing the ergodox kit, but yes i will include the 1800 1x 0 key for everyone who orders the numpad

also

im not ignoring you ergodox guys and what you are saying, i just dont have much i can input, but instead of requesting things of me, if you could discuss it between you, so i can get a final kit that as many of you are happy with as possible, and we can work from there

Bunny, based on the current orders, can you give us (Ergodox users) an idea on which extra legends will be a part of the other sets.

im working on that now, but not much of use to you, there are some extra 1.25 mods for sure, several novelty keys, some extra keys that were oversights in the original mockups, like the 1800 1 x key etc and a couple of others

we are working on some final mockups, but i would ask that none of that is taken into consideration with the ergodox addon, this needs to be made in such a way that it isnt imperative that everyone has ordered everything etc, we have reached a good amount of orders, but lots of unpaid invoices right now, so im trying to juggle things around and hope people pay so we can add even more

One of the biggest reaons i want these keycaps for the ergodox is that the font and the legends and the colour's.

If they are blanks they wouldn't really appeal to me as much as they do now.

I definitely prefer generic/novelty mods to blanks. I also prefer incorrect legends to blanks as well. I really don't want to lose all those nice accents.

I think I prefer the less flexible/more ergo profile on the caps than the flat 3 rows, but in the end I'll be fine with either. The color scheme is my favorite part of this set, so that is the thing that is most important to me.

Cultofjosh, Jefferai, and Air tree y'all wanna throw some suggestions up for modifier legends? I've only ever seen ergodoxen with blanks + alphas.

I wasn't suggesting uniform alphas.

You didn't, but the base Penumbra set hasn't made a decision about whether to go standard SA profile or to do uniform row 3 alphas. BunnyLake was originally going to wait until he had a 23 Commando set (which has uniform alphas due to complaints about the comfort of Round 4 SPH IIRC) in hand before making the decision but that's out of the question at this point.

So, if the alphas are going to be uniform, do we get uniform ergodox keys to match or do we get standard profile caps?

Ah, I didn't realize that. I'm in the Round 5 HONEY buy...should I be thinking of all R3?

I think if all alphas are uniform, we should make all non-alphas uniform too.

That said I have little experience here. While I'd like the most ergonomic solution (why I'm buying an ErgoDox after all) if there is a question of comfort then uniform may be the way to go. In that case I'd suggest alpha labels and the rest of the keys should either have labels corresponding to the default ErgoDox QWERTY layout from the configurator, or alternately, fun keys like the ones you see for the HONEY buy. Hyper, Panic, various legends, that kind of thing. Then that puts everyone at an equal disadvantage while making the set even more fun. Keeps the cost down too if all sets are the same.

I am hoping for non-uniform aplhas.  For novelty ergodox legends, how about something like this:

R1 x 1.5   (need 2) GEEKHACK    ERGODOX
R2 x 1.5   (need 2) - we already have TAB and BACKSLASH keys form base set, I am content with those
R3 x 1.5   (need 6) TOP  BOTTOM  ONE  TWO  CODE  HACK
R4 x 1.5   (need 2) LEFT  RIGHT
R3 x 1.0   (need 10) 2xPINKY  2xRING  2xMIDDLE  2xINDEX  2xRUN/FN/blank?
R2 x 2.0   (need 4)   2xTHUMB  2xCLUSTER
R2 x 1.0   (need 4)   GEEK HACK  ERGO DOX
R3 x 1.0   (need 4)  Penumbra solarized ctrlalt.com BunnyLake?

Or may be just keep all 1.0 sized keys on the thumb cluster blank.  I wish I could do a nice mockup.  My gut feeling is that outside 1.5 mods would be best to have legends on, while inside ones can be left blank.

Just do the best you can, that is all that's required here Bunny  :thumb: .

I know I would of loved to have seen some Cherry 1800 love but like all the Group Buys I have been in, there is not enough of orders that satisfy this request.  But who knows, maybe down the line 2014, 2015 or even 2016 there might be a chance to get in on a GB that will build a complete 1800 layout.

I thought it does support the 1800 layout.

yeah, i know im adding some keys in to make that happen, i just wanted to make sure im not gonna miss something obvious

I'm not sure what Elrick is talking about missing here. With these keys all being uniform profile it just needs the 1.75x right shift, 1x numpad "0, & 1x numpad "+" key to work on a US-ANSI 101key 1800

If it wasn't uniform profile caps, i.e. DCS then it would have the del/end/pgdn keys in the wrong profile which is the part that we always have to live with on DCS sets, which isn't the end of the world

Any chance of getting a 1.75 right shift for the pure layouts?  If uniform profile, a GH key could be used as the Fn key.  Would the Fn key in the extended kit be the right profile otherwise?

Isn't this an all SA Profile layout we have just bought into?  Hence it being an SA profile they are NOT all the same (not a DSA) hence why that assumption?

Row 1, 2, 3 and 4 have all different height arrangements hence in an 1800 layout particularly in the del/end/pgdn area will have Row 2 when you really need ROW-1 style..... am I wrong here?

Plus the numpad area needs a look in.  Having some spare row-4 single unit WIN keys, would be appreciative for anyone out there using any 1865 keyboards.

we are looking into standard sa, or hjaving some more rows in r3 profile, so its sorta uniform in parts, sounds awful but if you check out the commando 23 gb, till give you a better idea

Hi bunnylake, i'm just wondering how I know my payment is completed. The status shows "invoiced". Is there any other stage like "paid" that can tell me that?
In my order history it tells my GH60 and penumbra GB are at "invoiced" stage.
Looking forward your reply

Don't worry about me Bunny, who am I to comment on key-sets here on GH.  Just a plain old grease-monkey that loves to mess with filth all day long  :thumb: .

I'm sure you've got everything covered, besides you at least attempted to please everyone here which is always highly welcomed.

I don't know what size that shift is.  Is it 1.75 or 2 in the tsangan set?

Edit: apparently it is 1.75.  :)

If you need any help with that, let me know!  I can fire up my photoshop :)  Won't be anything fancy--more like the ones I did on the earlier pages.

Thanks for the offer. I've actually got Cody's masters which is helping a ton. I am fielding suggestions for modifier legends though!

This all sounds pretty cool. If you want to try a mockup, check out http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/ -- there is an ErgoDox preset.

Awesome, thanks! I knew there has to be something like this already!

Ok, here it goes. I have tried to minimize number of unique keys, reused TAB,  BACKSLASH and GEEK/HACK key form the base set. I think everyone will probably want to keep SHIFT in its normal place.  And I think blank 1x sized keys look pretty as well.

Suggestions or improvements are welcome:

Hmm, TOP and BOTTOM keys don't look as nice as their length so different. Not symmetric as CODE / HACK pair.  How about ONE / TWO ?

Also, since ergodox, to me at list, associates pretty closely with blue color, what do you think about swapping it's color with shift?

How about an "Any" key?   :p

Not in love with the lack of symmetry with the top/bottom keys either.

Just having the accents on the far left/right might be enough for me. What do you guys think about just getting rid of the completely vertical text altogether? I honestly think it'll look a little funny no matter what we put there.

I would be fine with that.  This is probably the smallest number of new unique keys we can get a way with.  Well we could also replace LEFT/RIGHT pair two identical ANYKEYs. Like this: http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/c94e83a3a20ed0a5adce5d30031fc945
If I am counting right, that requires just 7 new key types.

final invoices have been sent (orders now closed apart from dox kit)

In terms of the default ErgoDox layout (in the configurator), Tab is in the wrong place as is the \ | key; they both go on the left side.

There was that issue on the other page. If you post your invoice numbers that can help but I think one will be your order and the other your invoice number :)
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)
