What I've got today - Skyblue 38GT Case
« on: Tue, 21 May 2013, 08:51:38 »
Today I've got back what I sent to anodizing company.

I release it here first as a member of GH. ;)
I have not posted this anywhere in the world.

You can see the Skyblue case.
I like it.

https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/111951734190426491023/albums/5880422758796988561

I add some more pics here...
I think I was the first who made an acrylic case as this...
I don't make acrylics as for now... It's too hard to make it beautiful.
These cases are different from others in that these have almost perfectly FLAT sides.

Even though I have made/assembled/tuned HUNDREDs of keyboards for others, I myself don't have a full-tuned Custom Keyboard now.
So Ironical!

Are all three pieces laser cut? If so how do the screws hold them together if there are no threads?

Looks like there's countersunk holes with threads on the edges. And then flat hex head screws. GON, I'm loving that low profile look. Great job ^__^

I don't use Laser for these cases.
Laser has difficulty in precise manufacturing.
So they are all CNC milled and as you guess they have thread on the bottom plate.

And there is no way to make MX switches fit to 2T AL plate if not CNC milled.
(Laser cannot make different depth but just making holes...)

I should have looked more carefully. I just noticed on picture 2 that it has been machined horizontally and not laser cut.

And PolyCarbonate that I use for mid-plate cannot be made into Keyboard cases with Laser cut. ;)

How much does this weigh fully assembled? Thank You GON :)

I think a fully assembled GON NS 38 will be around 1kg, but not sure... I haven't weight it exactly yet.. ;)
Even though I have made/assembled/tuned HUNDREDs of keyboards for others, I myself don't have a full-tuned Custom Keyboard now.
So Ironical!
