Those clacks that were on eBay (Boogey Board) would be cool on this set.

Wait, the base color is cream? It looks just white or grey to me.

GMK renders are almost always not true to life.

So 3K is cream, not gray?

Nope it is a light grey. Just slightly lighter than the original color.

I think people get the idea that 3k is cream because the tread title has cream as one of the main colors:

"[IC] GMK Royal Alpha Typewriter inspired set (Lime, Green and Cream)"

Yeah I more of buy the idea of CODE key as an 'exotic' key like what we usually do with the Ecs, so I'm still with the suggests that we do normal winkey and 1 CODE key. Changing the alignment to the middle is just ruin the whole reason we redo it IMO :(

Cherry infact have done 1.25x Code key, but it's not like the 1x one that more common known but have a 'box' surrounded legend.

I'd like to see the 1.25U key you mentioned.

It's actually 1.5x, my mistake

Yup, It is more common than the 1u code keycap yes. I was showing it to prove that it exists in fact in 1.25u, but it is not very usable :p

The 1.5u code keycap also exists in some different designs:

Enlighten me: Why are people so obsessed over the CODE key? I've seen it on other sets and never wondered why it was so important.

Sorry for the newbish question.

For me because GMK doesn't have proper vendor neutral super keys. 2 1U CODE keys can be used for that in 1.5x bottom row arrangement. And they look far better than blanks or arrow keys.

Enlighten me: Why are people so obsessed over the CODE key? I've seen it on other sets and never wondered why it was so important.

This had probably been said one thousand times, but the original darker green - used in two tones - seems so much nicer.

The windows key should be thrown out of the window. I associate that symbols with the frustrating hours spent fixing the windows os mess.

The way it currently stands, I'm looking at a base set of about 116 key caps, similar to the TA set, all keys N7 legends double shot on 3K, with pad printed and coated AE Intl sublegends top printed, much in the same way as Ivan's Irish dyesub set. The win key will be replaced with brand the new legend "CODE" keys, I'm going to try this, both for the 1U and 1.25U keys.

There will be a mod set, very similar to the Bluegaloo, in CP legends on AE. There will also be some CP on N7 keys, most likely spacebars, Esc, CODE and the 3 Enter keys.

I'm all ears on layouts, colors, and specific N7 keys you'd like in the mod set. Open to any and all other suggestions as well.

I'm thinking of launching the GB on 19-04 (19 April) as 1904 is the year Royal Typewriter Company was founded.

Start it the next week and stop taking orders on 19 04.

So keen to spend money :p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

#hype Soon you'll have a correct bottom row :D

That backspace is bothersome to me though.

Regarding developments, I am in discussion with GMK on the possible uppercase mods. They are testing out some techniques, which if successful should reduce cost for custom legends if needed, although I will push for as low price as possible.

Yeah I don't have any 2u keycap with green, and the other is hhkb style backspace :/ The GMK mod kit will correct it tough #hype!!

And here is more normal bottom row :p

Ok now in a more apropriate keyboard :) I am sorry I cannot yet fill a full layout, but I tried my best :) Keyboard Is my RS96.

F row and numpad mod caps are from a Dyesub cherry set, and the number caps in the numpad are from another royal alpha set, but doubleshot, and a bit yellowed :/

Here I changed the number caps on the numpad to dysub ones again :)

And with turquoise Leds :p

Couldn't agree more. Although I do love a subtle bright color on a board instead overwhelming the eyes with BAM POW BRIGHT COLORS!!! I think that's why I like this set so much, having the green alphas on grey looks amazing then adding the lime color accents :italianchefMUAH: perfecto!

Here you go, and they are different! O.o Is it possible that yellowing occurred and the keys turned to another shade of green?

Definitely a possibility, the color of the OG actually looks a little more yellowish.

Yup, but the difference is barely noticeable, I have used the caps before with the green shifts and I could never tell they were different

it is more distinguishable to me, that's why I asked for the comparison shot. The OG color make it better combination by its yellow tone, with the new color in the set I can tell right away that it was off the scheme ;D

I don't think it's the result of the aging process (yellowing) though but I agree with what you said that the difference is very little, well if it's too complicated to go after the original color then the new color is fine too :D

Are you sure there's a difference in color?  Look at the sides, they look pretty much the same. I think it's a lighting/texture thing that makes them look different on the tops in the pics.  I noticed on my AE colored ones that they have a different texture than the new caps.

Yes, I have them right here with me and at least mine have different colors, although they almost look the same (again could be from yellowing) :/

Maybe I did wrong by photographing the sides so close to each other, the finish reflects the other key, thus it appears that the sides have the same color, I will take more pictures tomorrow for a better comparison.

I don't think this means we should mimic the original color if it is different, since it is so barely noticeable, and that little difference could increase the MOQ due to the custom color :(
