Zireael — the novelty kit — consists of 10 light grey on dark grey novelties, which are inspired by Geralt's Signs — Aard, Axii, Quen, Igni, and Yrden. I have also added the novelties from the core kit in a reversed colourway — dark greys on light grey keys — and included two coloured sets. The latter consist of two R1 novelty keys each (signifying the ladies' symbols), arrows, and Enter keys. The colours are inspired by Ciri's and Yennefer's eyes. Finally, there are some new text novelties, including R1 1u "Hmm", R1 2u "****", and R3 1.5u "Roach". The regular Enter key should be light grey, not white (render error).

Version 3 — "Dots" Design


Version 4 — "Circle" Design


— Witcher Signs are made using the casters fingers, which the dots/circles are meant to represent.
— The lines connect the dots/circles, suggesting how a specific Sign is cast.
— The dots are also a tribute to mechanical keyboards (PCB holes specifically).
— The dots/circles could are also slightly reminiscent of constellations, hence trying to forge a connection with the stars, and magic in turn.
— The spaces between the dots/circles and lines are also in line with that Sword novelty.


Since I have proposed 2 slightly different designs (I am partial to one of them!), I would love to hear some feedback from you guys. Please take part in this new poll and vote for your favourite design:

We had this topic on the Discord channel and I actually didn't. My reasoning behind the names was logical until someone pointed it out to me. Anyway, I'd need a large bottle of whiskey and a long night to explain it, but "dots" are ones with the holes and "circles" are filled. You're better off not knowing... 😂

BTW: Poll showed an overwhelming vote for Version 4 (filled in, without the holes) – over 75%. Render below.

Personally I liked the first Witcher signs more. Those "Hand movements" aren't so nice in my opinion. But it is a great set nonetheless. Deskpad?!

I'm using GMK 2M at this point but will pair it with an appropriate RAL or Pantone (currently preferring Pantone) shade I have in mind.

Perhaps make the dark mods/light-alphas the base kit (with numpad) and all dark alphas\numpad as separate kits?

Not sure I like that. Keep in mind that the responses you've gotten so far has been with the previous renders in mind. Changing something as fundamental as mods just before going to GB is pretty weird.

Text mods were suggested by the majority early on in the IC phase, and the set was switched over to those back then. Sorry about the render — Abec was swamped and I didn't want to give him more work to switch those over for these renders.

Only one thing bugs me - I've seen it mentioned and answered previously, so sorry for being annoying, but I wanted to second/third the sentiment:

Any way we could work in a second sword on one of the shift/backspace keys thru a novelty kit? I thought for sure the Sihil novelties would have a second 2.25u sword keycap or something, but no luck.

The dichotomy of two swords for two evils (and the ambiguity therein) represents a core theme of the books that I would love to see represented in this set.

The problem I have with adding another sword... it means that people will want it accented as well, and we have 3 different accent colours, so that's a big price increase. I could drop the sword from the Enter key and move it to the Shift keys instead, but (1) I don't really like that style and (2) GMK Red Samurai has done this already (IIRC).

Currently reworking the kits to make them more affordable; let me think on this.

ISO Enters are making things horribly complicated at the moment...

So what? :P Red Sam had clouds, not swords. And just because a set did a certain kind of accents doesn't mean that other sets can't do something similar. For example, Yugo was the first set to do front-printed space novelties (afaik). Does that mean that other sets can't do the same? No it doesn't.

Personally, I'd love to see both swords on the Shifts.

Not sure if it's the first set to do front-printed spacebar novelties, but KA2018 gotcha beat there ;)
