I know it's weird but when will we have SA Carbon R2 :( will it run in the same time with this GMK GB?

Sry i know there is already 3k rerun votes but i thought cherry lovers would appreciate carbon colors. So this is why i made it gmk. Ofcourse if i start developing SA Carbon R2, i'll announce it properly so everybody will get to know it. Hope i'll get the same input/feedback like always. However right now i need to finish this project first. After that i will go for Yuri and then SA Carbon R2.

hopefully strong enough to save some moneh

Yeah, the OP already stated this is gonna be an expensive set, meaning that it may not be suitable for everyone, but being a special color combination, it most have most of the options covered, as matching key caps are not available somewhere else. I should check if I may get in, by the time the set becomes available. It does not matter how good looking the set is, cost will always be important, because I have a user mentality, over a collector's; therefore, maybe, I should be contempt by seeing pictures of the set, only.  :p

Let's see.

As i said i am aiming for 140$ per base set. ~80$ for Novelties at 150 moq. The colorcombo is proven...

Actually i am thinking about to skip the gray enter keys and add additional 2.25 shift key so clueboard and leo660 users could join the drop. We'll keep the gray escape key. Basically if i do so, the orange enter keys will be unavoidable, but not for those who will buy the novelties (it has gray graphene enter...). On top of that i think we'll have room for an additional key.

By the way, is everybody ok with windows keys or should we use "code" (1.25u and 1u) keys? I am very flexible here because i am not that picky for this special key.

Are you talking about removing the windows keys completely for the code keys? I personally love having windows keys and would be against that. I am fully on board with everything else  :D

Ah okay. Well my vote is to keep the win key in that case.

I don't use windows, but I would rather see a Windows key than a code key. Not a terribly strong preference though.

If we're talking about the actual Windows logo keys in the board renders, then I vote to keep those.

If it's the text "WIN" keys in the layout renders, then I don't really care if it's WIN or CODE.

But those orange on grey logos look pretty good, IMO.

I would be ok with a non-windows key. I am a multi OS user so generic keys or novelty keys are better.

Is the Carbon key just not possible?

How about a Cherry or GMK logo in the Carbon color way for the Windows / Code key?

Well then we go with CODE. Also decided to keep all the grey enters. An additional shift 2.25u (clueboard and leo fc660) will be added too.

I think we are done with base kit.
I'll try to check the pricing next week. If pricing is reasonable i'll keep it.

Those cherry logos are available only in 1u size, but we need it in 1.25u size too. In short its not an option. Code is available in 1.25u and 1u sizes. So win or code. Code was clearly louder here.

On a side note, what is GMK's production times like? Obviously SP are in over their heads at the moment, is GMK fairly quick at producing? I'd assume they save time by just producing an entire set as opposed to various smaller kits.

Much prefer CODE over Win.

I would personally be ok with dropping gray enter keys even tho this idea seems to be pretty much abandoned by now.

Especially wondering how many people are going to make use of the gray iso or gray numpad enter, and if something else like an extra set of orange code keys wouldnt be more usefull for most people.

Also, probably unrealistic but just to throw it out there:
Since we are already adding an extra 2.25 Shift, how about adding an 2.75 off white blank Shift for VE:A and potentially 40% Spacebar support? xD

Yeah I know...   ;)
Ignore the 2.75 Shift part, its probably too far out there.  ;D

Regarding gray enter tho, while I like color options, going with both versions for ansi, numpad, iso and novelty enter seems a bit overkill to me tbh.

Im good either way tho.
Cant have too many options I guess.   :thumb:

Yeah, I think the functionality of the right 2.25u shift would be far more advantageous than the extra enters.

What would be the demand for such a set? What other keys do you need to cover that layout? What would be the extra cost involved? When you figured that out, you may arise to the very same conclusion of most of the group buys for the last few years at GH: There is no enough demand to justify the extra costs for set with small demand. That is the main reason why must of the sets are focused on ANSI US.

Is there any chance that there would be an optional Colemak/Dvorak sidekit being released in the future? Out of all GMK sets, this might have the highest potential for MOQ fulfillment, being so highly anticipated :) I'm down for 3 sets if it ever happens

Colemak/Dvorak is almost least in SA profile ,maybe Colemak/Dvorak is the most in GMK, if that , the kind guy would add this , if not , unfortunately
This kind guy would do all his ability to meet everyone's demond if possilbe but not a definite promise. .

I am waiting for the next Carbon SA drop but would like to see this one have orange keys to match the Carbon SA Orange Alphas, if not the novelties. It is still my favorite but I never thought it would be made in this new profile.

I have a new Leopold FC750 that needs Carbon and Orange.

Why do you want the keys in this set to match those of Carbon SA? Their profiles are so different that they may look and feel very awkward if they were installed side by side in the same keyboard.

I think I would like the GMK profile over the SA profile. The main thing is I want Orange keys. I think I could get used to the SA profile but then switching between keyboards at home and work I think the GMK will be better but I hope to not wait for a year before they are available.

By the way, will this keyset be using the same updated/reformulated plastic material similar to Skidata+'s?

In fact, does anybody know if, moving forward, all GMK sets will be adopting said reformulation?

Not all the upcoming ones. I think just the ones made after Skidata+. There are some sets that were set as GBs after Skidata+, but were made before.
Monkey was run as a GB after Skidata+, but doesn't use the same formula.

Also, I think I'm down for this. I wasn't a fan of the original Carbon, but seeing the renders in Cherry profile changed my mind.

By the way, will this keyset be using the same updated/reformulated plastic material similar to Skidata+'s?

In fact, does anybody know if, moving forward, all GMK sets will be adopting said reformulation?

Yes it will, like all the upcoming GMK sets.

the same with you

Not all the upcoming ones. I think just the ones made after Skidata+. There are some sets that were set as GBs after Skidata+, but were made before.
Monkey was run as a GB after Skidata+, but doesn't use the same formula.

Also, I think I'm down for this. I wasn't a fan of the original Carbon, but seeing the renders in Cherry profile changed my mind.

I thought Monkey was made before Skidata+. Anyway i am hyped about skidata+. Can't wait to get mine :)

Well hope you make it into Carbon drop. I recomend you to look at Carbon in person to make a right decision. I personally am in love with beige alphas. They are like bones/ivory. Sadly the photos can never impart the color vibe perfectly.

Correct! It was made before Skidata+, and doesn't have the reformulated plastic. But the GB for Monkey was run in...February? Whereas Skidata+ was in November of last year.

So hopefully all production after Skidata+ will have the reformulated plastic.
