Since these have not gone into mass production yet, any chance there can be one very simple mod to allow top removal even with LEDs installed? I think this will be a higher incentive for people pay the premium. Here is the mod I'm talking about that I've been doing to a lot of boards I'm building:

http://youtu.be/TEAzBbVU-yE?t=51s

I can even offer help on the models. This is my own I drew up several months ago, first pic is stock top, second pic (rendered) is with the mod:

kinruan, can you please address these:

1. Who will be doing Asian GB, if I wanted to get from China rather than US?

2. What are the shipping and PP charges? Can you give an estimate of the final costs for the 87pack after international shipping and PP charges.

3. If the model has not been made I would suggest to have the switch top cover modded as WFD has suggested.

4. Will there be a R2 for sure? Asking because if there are fitting issues, these could be corrected in R2.

I actually love this idea, but at this point I can't really afford this cosmetic upgrade that won't even be visible when there are caps on the switches ;)

Since you're taking orders, they have not been made yet. Why can't the simple change be applied? I'm not trying to demand, just curious to know why it's too late.

It was brought up months ago, and twice in the IC thread. Quote and link below:

If we are doing a custom mold, why not make the mold friendly to switch modding when LED's are installed?  ie, similar to WFD's mod where he dremels out the LED section of the cover so the cover can be removed without needing to desolder the LED.  Would be super hot for those that like LED'ed keyboards.

please respond about the led cutouts.
he already did

I don't think it's been fully answered yet. I mentioned that it hasn't gone into production yet, so it's not too late to change. But if it's not going to be changed for some other reason, then that's what I'd like to know.

Put it this way, if that small mod for LED and the GH logo was added, then wouldn't be a need for round2. There are several people already that have expressed buying these switch tops if the change were implemented, myself included. I was just hoping for something with a functional purpose, rather than cosmetics only, which will be covered up by keycaps anyways. More people buying these this round translates to lower production costs per switch cover. But if the slight change is not possible, then I suppose I'll pass for now.

yeah i would also like him to explain a little more on why why its too late, considering they haven't gone into production. i would buy for sure, if they had the gh logo and led cut outs. he did however say it was too late. :(

I'm somewhat in the same boat, although I'm not sure I'll be adding LEDs, but I just can't get me head to go for these if they don't add anything functionally (No matter how small the difference), given the high price; for me it is almost 4 times the cost of an entire switch.

I would have been on-board without a doubt of it had LED cutouts and a GH logo.

I am talking to aboStudio and didn't get a clear response, which i guess is a No.  I appologize, but really that MOD need an entire new model, which costs more money. i have to say in each 0.25$ there is about 0.2$ for model (if 10000pieces total), a new model will definitly double the price which nobody likes

I contacted aboStudio too and they said they aren't looking to create a new model for at least another year.

please respond about the led cutouts.
he already did

Ok thanks, that's the type of explanation I was looking for. So, by "model" do you mean modeling and designing it in software? Or do you mean the plastic mold? If it's the former, then I have access to solidworks and willing to put in some time to help with the measurements and model design.

Almost missed that you started the group buy. How long do you plan will this GB be open? I can't decide between white and transparent...

So if someone else made the mold and has these why is the mold fee part of this GB?
