That's not what I'm concerned with. It's just that there's more overlap between ortho and ergo when you look at ortho split thumb clusters or boardwalk.

I do agree ortho fits in better with ergo than base. I'm just saying that it suits me better to have it in the base - if it was in ergo I'd probably have to skip base (or spend $200 instead of $130) which would be a shame.

Of course, ideally there would be separate alphas, mods, 40%, ortho and ergo kits, but that turns out to be quite a bit more expensive per key due to the added labour required (I assume).

I'm ok because I'm in for many kits, but for ortho is 2u space really more popular than grid 2x 1u?

i think it is honestly
Pretty much every keeb.io split ortho board supports two 2U space bars: Iris, Nyquist, Viterbi and older Levinsons. Iris at least is pretty darn popular.
Ortho. Always.

Just thinking out loud with a low effort shoop.

(Attachment Link)

I'd be ok to get rid of the extra 1.5 mods if that lower the cost.
Also, your layout creates duplicates though.

Yea I noticed afterwards. The intent was to use the generic legends either from the earlier ergodox kit or the first one here for the horizontal 1.5u keys. That way there are only 8 of them but it can cover any layout.
Also, could the two blank keys in the ergo kit become curly brace/square bracket keys?

If have to say I also agree most ergo users or at least a good portion will be on boardwalk and I have twice now had the problem of no blank 2Us in ergo sets (GMK Oblivion R2 which you couldn’t even get 2 blank 2Us buying the spacebars kit, and space cadet assembly as well) and the text going in the wrong direction kills it for me.

Also I completely agree with no need for raise and lower for ortho. I mean as a previous ortho user I’d have to say you are already accustomed to not having perfect legends and especially since there are multiple up and down arrow keys already included.... you guys really gonna throw a fit when there are two up arrow keys that are different and two down arrow keys that are different over the text raise and lower ? I’d have to say my raise and lower keys have never not been novelties to be honest. But whatever doesn’t affect me I guess cause I’m buying ergo, spacebars, extension, arrows so I’ll have more than enough keys but sucks for the people who have to buy spacebars to get 2 blanks just cause a few ortho users need perfect legends on a keyboard that was almost designed for abstract legends.

Also. I always thought it went without saying biip is by far the dominant designer out of all the top designers in this little industry. I’m convinced he is the only one who does an interest check and accepts feedback. Every other top name designer it’s like why pretend.... call it a hype generator because we all know you think your kits were designed perfect and you likely don’t even read the comments for feedback... only looking for praise to fan the ego.

I think the prices for the Ergo kit and the Extensions kit might be swapped? Seems strange that the huge Ergo kit would be $70 but Extension $110

Thanks for making this kit matte. I would have been bought as shiny too, but matte is much better, I can't wait to get it.

Interesting that new molds have to be made for the matte finish, so it's not just different material?  (still gonna buy and rock the set)

Hopefully, this will lead to cheaper KAM matte sets in the future?

Are you sure in this number? It would be cheaper with VAT than US price without taxes.

KAT Milkshake prices were reasonable, so I'm not afraid of EU pricing.

These prices are very much in line (good) with what I would expect from a pbt keycap groupbuy, but I see this includes co-financing of new molds. What kind of pricing is it without the co-financing (say base for example)?

I chose matte finish due to readability issue.
The shiny finish made the legends difficult to read and didn't look good.
Hope you understand my choice :)

The default (shiny) finish remains interesting though! But for other sets… :p

Noone did expect that we will sell 6k KAT Milkshake kits. That's why it's getting delayed.
Keep also in mind that there are final samples approval phase and sometimes adjustment needs to be done :)

The 2u space is already convex as far as I can see. Did you mean 2.25u and 2.75u? I second that, would be cool to have convex spacebars for split boards.

However, that would mean having to make two more moulds, which might not be feasible. It would probably increase the spacebar kit price significantly...

Majority of my keycaps are PBT matte (3 out of 4), so I'm interested on how shiny PBT feels like. And yeah i'm interested in uniform, glossy/shiny finish :)

But this one is probably instabuy for me anyway.
