Introducing Atrium—A premium, multiple window artisan keycap display box

Atrium is the result of a collaborative effort between Obsessive Caps and Trailblazer Keyboards, designed to offer artisan keycap collectors a unique and elegant way to display and protect their favorite pieces.
Our design focuses on preserving desk space while ensuring your collection remains visible and safe.

Key Features & Specifications

Compact & Strategic Dimensions
Each box measures exactly 12" (304.8mm) wide, under 3.5" (89mm) deep, and under 2" (51mm) tall with a 13° viewing angle.
When displayed side-by-side with a second Atrium, they beautifully frame most modern, thin-bezel 27" diagonal monitors (24" wide).
We aimed to strike a delicate balance between a minimal footprint and allowing you to view a large collection of artisans at all times.

First-of-its-Kind Front Window
Our unique front "window" ensures that the intricate details of your artisans are always visible, while offering protection from dust, dirt, and light damage.

Thoughtful Design
  • Deep "counter-engraving" Atrium logo across the back.
  • 4 Silicone Keyboard Universalized Feet ("SKUF") on the underside for stability and protection.
  • Hidden screw holes under each foot (4 total) for hanging, refinishing, or custom coating.
  • Capacity: 3 rows by 12 columns (36 slots) for artisan keycaps.
  • Internal Dimensions: 20mm by 20mm base artisan clearance, with internal height clearance for taller artisans (up to 24mm).
  • UV Protection: 2mm thick UV-filtering acrylic top lid with a convenient front-lift tab. 5mm extra-thick UV-filtering acrylic front window.
  • Weight: Approximately 2.56 lbs. (1.16 kg) when empty, with lids.

Prototype Round 1 Finish Options
  • Black anodized aluminum.
  • Raw, untreated aluminum (will oxidize over time).

Pricing & Availability
Due to the unique and premium features of Atrium, it is not as affordable to manufacture as other display trays or boxes.
Regardless, we hope to still deliver our product to enthusiasts at an affordable and competitive price point.
We are trying our best to keep the price below $200 per unit (before taxes and shipping).

We are also considering a discount for ordering two matching units.
With enough interest and demand, as well as assessing reasonable packaging options, we hope you'll be thrilled with the value you get.

Have long-term tests been done to ensure caps don't yellow through the UV-resistant windows?

Have long-term tests been done to ensure caps don't yellow through the UV-resistant windows?

Great question.

I have not done long term testing at this time. I have had the boxes, filled, on my desk for the last two months within sunlight's reach and I have not noticed any yellowing or UV damage.

I am in the process of ordering samples of what many people consider to be the ultimate standard, OP3 Ultraviolet (UV) Filtering Clear Acrylic Plexiglass, to run some comparison tests against the acrylic provided by my manufacturer.

I have faith in my manufacturer and what they have delivered, but I am not above doing the due-diligence to provide the best and safest product for enthusiasts. I will gladly report back with my findings once comparison tests have been completed.

Is there anything in specific that you would like me to test for/against?

This is awesome to hear! I for one would be willing to pay a bit more for a glass or acrylic that is rated to keep UV light out better than the factory's solution. Although considering the box is gonna be fairly expensive as it stands maybe consider offering the higher grade solution as a add on.

Older Primecaps Al Bumens are well-known to yellow with sunlight, so I'd suggest using a couple of them to see the differences in acrylics. Canada bumens or B-1000 bumens should be cheap to find for this purpose.

Also, given OP3 is the defacto standard, would it cost much more to use it in this box over your manufacturer's option?

This one looks great!, is it possible to have a smokey top lid option?
