raising money for geekhack/geekhackers raffle (finished)
« on: Fri, 11 October 2013, 07:04:28 »
so, i would like to raise some money raffle style ala moose

tickets will be 1 dollar each, you can buy as many as you like

this money will all be donated, i will receive none of it, however i would like to split it into a few different places as follows:

25% to geekhackers tooling project
25% to go to keeper of the faith photekq, this money will go towards either him progressing further with his personal tek projects, or towards his dream of making the best possible tenkeyless pcb, his choice, but whatever he chooses, helping this guy along helps us all along in the long run
25% to keeper of the faith jdcarpe towards the 40% project
25% towards making up the loss on calmb4thepwns calm depths gb

if any of these people decline the offer and dont accept the funds, that percentage will go to the geekhackers tooling project

on to the items you can win

1st prize gets you

2nd prize gets you

3rd prize gets you

4th prize gets you

this item will also come with a tenkeyless or 60% miami themed case that will be donated kindly by moz

8th prize gets you

15th prize gets you

added by me, everything here minus the gh keys, and ill add some extras too

16th prize gets you

a lovely moose head hand crafted and donated by the wonderful binge

17th prize gets you

Yihua 936 soldering station

this is on US plug and voltage and was donated anonymously

due to the kindness of shadovved, im pleased to announce another incentive

anyone who has or eventually has 25 tickets or more

gets a ten sticker pack exactly like this

i will cover all shipping costs of any item won

if we sell a higher value in tickets than the items listed, i will add more items

if anyone would like to donate any items, i will gladly list them

please post below or pm me if you would like to buy tickets

if you dont agree with what i am doing or the causes i am choosing to help, please remember, these are my items, this is my choice and you are not forced to participate

thank you all kindly for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance to anyone that participates

we shall sell tickets for 1 week from now

as for the draw, we will either use a random generator or i will try and rope in another keeper of the faith, cough cpt cough to do the draw for me so its totally fair

cheers

Anyone interested in 9th prize, it's a $90 value, and is made of Stainless Steel and Anodized Niobium, a jewelry grade metal. It is not nickle free, but wont give you any issues unless you have a specific nickle allergy. If you win, and the intended recipient has a nickle allergy, just let me know and I can swap it out with a titanium bracelet, that is 100% hypoallergenic.

If you have any questions about the process, or materials used, let me know.

I'd like to up the prize on the Miami and offer a TKL or 60% Miami style case in blue-pink-blue or pink-blue-pink as per the winner chooses.

I have a cosmetically defective Phantom PCB, so if anyone wants to cover costs on that ($20) or offer a new one from MK and
someone to cover costs for 100 blue switches ($35) or offer some switches themselves and
someone to offer a Teensy, we could offer someone a complete kit to build a Miami Phantom.

Just a thought. I'm putting my Miami themed case up in any case.

Nope, Item #9 is a stainless steel/niobium necklace. If someone has specific nickle allergies, I'll swap it with a titanium bracelet.

Also, bunny. I assume winners of each prize will be announced, so people can make offers to swap prizes if someone wins something they don't want as much as another item?

You're actually amazing bunny.

To everyone who has bought even a single ticket or donated an item.. Thank you. I will make sure that every penny has a good use. I hope to be able to inspire others to make and design stuff, and to put it towards projects that will benefit the community.

I got 5 tickets, so that's 1.25$ for you sir. Try not to spend it all on a single project.

That should be specified, Bunny. And as long as we have more competitors than prizes, I'd vote for spreading the wealth of prizes out, although if you're not listing prizes in order of value per se, you could have each winner pick their preference, last winner gets what's left.

my plan was, to draw from top to bottom on the prizes, once a ticket is pulled, they win that item, and that ticket gets discarded, if they have remaining tickets, they are still in the draw for subsequent items

if people really want another system then im happy to discuss it

alright. I'm just saying this out of personal interest, but have you thought about letting the winner choose their prize such as what AKmalamute said. I'm perfectly fine with your method, I'm just curious.

i did put some thought into that, and it isnt out of the question at this stage, the issue is, we have ltos of prizes, and tehre are more being added soon, and it can take a long time getting answers back from everyone about what they want, and you cant send it to the next person until that person has decided etc, we have a week until the draw, and we will go with what the general masses want, my end goal here is to make as much money as i can for some projects i really believe in, im happy to put in whatever work needs to be done and accommodate as many people as i can

A neat idea might be to have all the winners pm you the list of items from 1-however many and just use the process of elimination from there. everyone gets at least some say in what they want and it doesn't require waiting on others to reply first. Just a suggestion.
