unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

Got into the community in November of 2012 after I smashed by Apple BT keyboard to bits. I now have 3 keyboards with a Phantom being built and two Pokers that I plan to build up myself. All this in three months.

Having fun, but sometimes this habit hobby scares me. LOL!  :p

I didn't realize I had as many boards as I do. Considering I got 5 of the 8 for free, I didn't keep track.

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I am merely a "hobbyist" and "enthusiast" and - maybe - just bumping up against the bottom threshold of "collector"

"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

3 keyboards, 3 months, $130.

All within a month of finding this site.

I'm actually really satisfied right now. The only switches that I really want to try now are MX Red and Topre.

Only $130???

what keyboard did you got?

I'm planning to build one GH60 and only the switches are going to be almost half of it ...

The ones I have are in my signature. The HPE 87 was new but the other 2 were used off Ebay.

I have to admit, every time I see a picture of a Filco, I want to hug the monitor.

I do envy you. Even buying used stuff the shipping cost would kill me.

Someday ago I just found one original cherry mx keyboard on ebay for 20 bucks then I saw the shipping - almost 100 bucks, damm!!!

When you get a Model F, you instantly understand that the Model M was designed as a drastic cost-cutting measure.

That is, in ~ 1985 dollars, they could sell a Model F for about $350 and make a moderate profit, or sell a Model M at $250 and make a much better profit.

You are an addict.

Remember the old WC Fields line, "Yes, I have a drinking problem - I have 2 hands but only one mouth."
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”

The Model F is a beast. I would trade all my keyboards for it. I think my ideal collection would be 1 Model F, and 1 Topre. I don't think I ever would go back to Cherry if I had those two.

I'm thinking of buying another keyboard. Yes, I am a keyboard addict.

Others choose to buy collectible key caps :) Both can become dangerous addictions XD

Nearly no dreams for me, unless they're some sort of horror scenes. Last time I had a dream, it was just me swimming under a boat surrounded by few dozens of huge, bloodthirsty sharks. I wish it was about keyboards instead. Oh well, getting clubbed with a Model F doesn't sound right either.
