What I see as the best hope for sets like this to happen would be if a vendor (or multiple vendors!) could start doing something like a seasonal kit through SP or whoever. Spring 2012, Dolch replica kit; Summer 2012, WYSE replica kit; Fall 2012, Space Cadet kit; and so on. Maybe this along with stocking some standard black and standard white doubleshot kits might give SP enough business, and with predictability in scheduling, to make projects like this more reasonable for them to produce (ie have the desire to keep said vendor as a customer), and it would benefit whichever vendor took the risk in ordering kits by getting to add some markup. I realize that that would mean these kits wouldn't get to group 3 low prices, BUT, it would stop all the death-by-too-many-options. In other words, someone like WASD or EK says "Here, I will have X number of *THIS* kit available in Q2. Order Here." No customization, no piggybacking groups, just a single product that revolves on a reasonable schedule, since there will not be a long-term market for any of these kits. Once the hobbiest market is saturated with Dolch rep kits (which will likely outsell any other kit besides the basics), there's no reason to continue making or offering them, and moving on to a new design will bring back repeat customers.
