There's a yellow and purple enter, you don't have to use the green.  I know not everyone likes accent keys, so it was designed with that in mind.

I could probably do a pack that has to hit MOQ to run, but I have no plans to add a second shorter shift unless there's a significant number of people who request it or people are fine with dripping the yellow enter key.  The FC660 layout is used by a pretty small minority of people.

If it turns out that the 6u space bar mold is broken, I'll have to look at 1800 again and see which caps are specific to that permutation and probably yank them.  If it's broken, I'll also be looking at a short shift for the FC660.

That's bad news about the 6U spacebar. But the older winkeyless 1800s use a standard 6.25U spacebar, IIRC.

The render didn't have it, so I asked for confirmation about the status of it.  I have no solid news on that front.

Like I said earlier though, if people absolutely need that, speak up now.  The other option is trying to get a colormatched 6u SP spacebar (even though it's not ideal) unless we could get a JTK run of the spacebar.

Hey nub any chance to get some blank modifiers as well.

Probably not unless I did a separate kit.  I'm trying to make a mostly universal set (except the damn ergodox that takes a million odd caps) that's affordable.  I'm not really looking to add any caps unless they're essential.

Keep in mind that each larger key added is about $1-2.50.  To make blanks for an Ergodox, you'd be looking at an additional $15-20 on the base price most likely.  As you add more, that cost barrier becomes harder to overcome.

I'd build a new keyboard just for this set. Would I have everything I need for a HHKB layout? 7u spacebar also?

HHKB has a 6u space bar.  It's planned for the kit, but for G80-1800 compatibility since the spacebar is off-centered.  I don't know if any keyboards that support that layout will also support the off-centered space.  The Viper looks like it uses a 7u space bar (that's also included), but, again, I'm not sure what keyboards that support that layout use on the bottom row since I haven't kept up on that.

It seems like the wind is strongly blowing towards a universal kit, but if it ends up going the other way, would you consider trying a half-a-dox kit?

Sucks about the 6u, since GMK is doing custom molding now would it be feesible (I doubt it financially) to have them make a 6u mold? It could also be made with new stems to accommodate the center stemmed 6u boards and topre boards.

The problem with the Ergodox kits are that they're very expensive and hard to hit MOQ.  They also use a lot of caps that cannot be used with other common layouts.  The best option is to see if there's any way to do blanks to get the necessary caps, but it's really a huge PITA.

At this point I'm not even sure there are 6u spacebars available.  They didn't include it on the mockup and some have said the mold is broken.

They are, but realforce boards (for example) are center stemmed, so if the mold was remade it could include a new stem to accommodate these boards, plus other 6u boards (razer and CM have some I believe).

Can confirm that the 6U spacebar is not available anymore, confirmed by GMK.

I haven't asked them about a new mold, but making new legends vs a new key mold, is a different matter altogether and I doubt it would be possible, given the low popularity of the 6U spacebar.

I have no clue.  I know someone was on vacation about a month ago and that impacted the renders, but, yeah, they're really not communicating well.  I'm hoping that this next e-mail receives a response.  If it doesn't, well, I may start shopping around the set and see if someone who has worked with them more can help.  There's been a pretty substantial amount of interest in the set, so I may just need someone with more pull.

Mostly this. Not that I don't like them but it makes an already expensive item 30-50% more expensive.
Insane shipping for larger items and almost a certainty that you will be hit by customs because they cannot undervalue.

True but we still get hit with that if it is shipped back from the US + much more expensive shipping after the latest price hike by US postal services.

Remember, VAT is price of the item + shipping + customs handling fee. And Massdrop rarely offers cheap shipping to Europe.

Edit: I remember it being much worse in the past. The various TKL boards have a $19 shipping attached to them. That's doable.

It's actually not as bad, because I did research this for my own GB quite a bit. Things to keep in mind:
1. At least for keycaps, US govt doesn't impose any duties when importing from GMK
2. When GMK ships within EU, they impose 20% VAT
3. MassDrop get volume discount on shipping and when I compared the costs with shipping within EU, it was about the same (~16 for a full set)
4. If GMK ships to two different locations, they will charge more for shipping.

Ok, heard back, new mockup:

Pending changes, nipple on numpad 5 and bastard shift for FC660.  Also requesting text and icon legends (text only on caps if they don't have both) and text only legend on numlock

Once again, if there's any way to slim this down, please, please, please make a comment.  I want to make this as affordable as possible, but right now I expect it to be at the $140 price point some of the other bigger sets are at unless I can find some ways to cut costs and/or trim it down.

Some possible ideas for trimming:

Remove 1u winkeys and turn them into Code or only give blanks as an option.

GMK also confirmed no 6u spacebar at this time.
