I would like to order *something* from this GB, but would anyone mind pointing me to a compatibility list for Teensy 2.0? I've looked through the DT and GH wiki pages and could not find that much information on which keyboards it will work with.
The Phantom and the Dox are the obvious ones, but then would larger keyboards like Model M or require Teensy++? Or still the regular Teensy? What about the SSK? Any other notable keyboards that need some sort of a Teensy?
Thank you!
Teensy 2.0 has 24 usable pins - actually, 25 at a push - enough for most DIY keyboards, many of which are TKL or smaller. It allows for 3 lock LEDs and a 13x8 matrix (104 keys), for example.
Replacing the controller on a Model M would need more pins - the matrix isn't NKRO, so it needs more rows/columns in the matrix to allow the modifiers to always work. I think it's 16x8. Teensy++ would be fine, or even Teensy 2.0 if you drop the lock LEDs, or use diodes to share some pins between scanning and LEDs.
For use as a converter obviously pins aren't an issue at all; Teensy 2.0 has plenty. With my converter it's the extra memory on the Teensy++ that
might be useful, for macros/layers etc. BUT, almost everyone who's made my converter has used Teensy 2.0 (or other ATmega32U4-based board), and had plenty of space for what they want to do.
