[IC] WYSE/Pearl and Pebble - More SA love [Taking Votes]
« on: Thu, 17 October 2013, 22:05:50 »
OK, I've officially gone crazy today, so I really really want to get one of these made in SA:

WYSE - Pearl and Grey with dark blue legends and yellow arrow:
39733-0

Pearl and Pebble with dark blue legends:
39735-1

Pearl and Pebble with black legends:
39737-2

Model M!!!

P&P/black :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yes, I shamelessly copied the P&P with Black from Model M (Unicomp) and WYSE I got from DT wiki, P&P Blue I just mixed an sort of liked more and it hasn't been done.

Infact none of them have been done in SA, which I think they would look great in, given the vintage colors, specially P&P

But have there been too many SA buys recently? I know sam mentioned doing nuclear also.

I need to dig out my SA caps, I think I'm going to put them on my GHpad

Nuclear???

We have only had 2 SA GB, 23Commando and CalmDepths. A 3rd Solarized might go into GB phase soon. In the same time we have had more DCS, and everyone knows SA > DCS.

DSA gets little love since it is meh, however I let it be selected for LCARS :P

Can we get Cherry font on SA? Time to mail Melissa.

MOZ you may soon take the crown for SA Profile king here on Geekhack.  But first you need to actually run a GB with an SA Profile in it.  So when is that going to happen?

I would at least like to see one of the current SA group buys come in and see that they actually look good and profiles match like they are supposed to etc.

There could be lots of heartache and butthurt otherwise :p

Just saying.

We should get 23Commando before I start my GB, I have this one and the BluChoc, atleast one planned after we see the first proper SA set.

Checking interest for the various color schemes sir, there is no point doing a GB for the two of us ;)

middle one looks good.

SA is the spherical one, right? Vaguely like ancient typewriters. I can get behind it. But I'd prefer ( as if anyone cared) to have my marks on D / K rather than F/J. Anybody else here learn on a keyboard like that?

Its been running from SP for the past two years since I was here.  Time to let it rest and choose another profile.  Nothing sadder than ONLY having ONE profile and it being always DCS.  We have to move on instead of sticking with the thin, easily crackable DCS's.

I only like the SA's because they are BIG with a huge amount of ABS pumped into them.  Hence I expect these key-caps to last for years on my keyboards.

I'm thinking the same way now, GMK have ruined me for using DCS caps from SP! They're just way too thin, after the GH60 Nostalgia set I'm done with DCS out of SP.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Yep all filled out.  Like the idea of Dark Blue for the text and numbers of this keyset.

So far WYSE and P&P-Black are just about neck and neck, however it is very very close amogst all three and truly all three look wonderful. Keeping that in mind, I've asked SP for some specific quotes.

Also, the new Cherry legends won't be usable on SA profile.

Since votes were so close:

I'm thinking maybe I'll club both the blue mod and black mod kits, so we have only 2 mod kits instead of 4. Or maybe group one alpha set with one mod set.

All of this depends on pricing quote I get and how much they cost.

I know some people would say it would be better to have lesser number of kits and not too many options so kits are cheaper, but I've found with the array of sets available via GB/classifieds, most members would get what they want only and will get it unless very expensive or dirt cheap like Tai Hao set.

Numpad sets come with both colored mods with two sets each in different legends, you should be able to use it with 1800 layout as well (Thus the two "-", in different profiles.

Ergodox kit is blank, so only one kit with both colored keycaps.

Also thought it was time we get an RGBY set for SA, so going with the stones theme (Pearl/Pebble/Pumic), I renamed the RGBY set to SCEAR (Sapphire, Citrine, Emerald, Amethyst, Ruby) :D

I tried to incorporate as many keys for the crazy layouts, if I have missed anything or got extras, please let me know.

I've missed the # key for ISO and Esc for GH60.

Should I replace a paid of diamond 1u keys with 2 pairs of 1u Ctrl and 1u Alt?

Don't see anything else.

Smart man, the ones you're running need all your commitment before starting up another Group Buy.  Nothing worse then having a GB go bust due to inattention and lack of interest.
