Well, the shade of the render will draw much more interest than the shade of the real caps.

John

They could also order the same color as the orange mods via pantone color and get exactly what the picture looks like.

I was able to borrow a CODE keyboard from a coworker, so I'll have some nice images of the keys with backlighting later!

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I think the backlighting looks kinda bad tbh.  Keycaps are too thin and too much light shines through.  And the orange here still looks darker than it does in person.  Again, this is just the proof set; the colors the GB will use are still up in the air.

Yeah not a fan of the backlighting but then again I don't have any backlit keyboards so that says a lot :)

Yeah, that is a lot going on.  The white is def. not helping with the transparency.  I know that grey/orange has been done before, but what about a nice med. grey with the poly orange legends, and then the solid orange mods with med. grey legends?

Kind of a shame as it looks really sharp until you turn on the leds.
wut. i'd buy a ****ty IBM board for that green V2

Something tells me we'll have the same problem no matter what the color used, SP caps are just too thin to allow the poly to shine.

Backlighting - yeah, the alpha legends are towards the top, which is great, but the number keys the legends are towards the bottom, so the shifted characters are illuminated.

Plus I wonder what this would look like with red or green LEDs ...
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Personally I think it looks fine when the LEDs were on but not at full intensity (that or the room wasn't completely dark)

It's too bad the transparent orange modifiers didn't work out. Those would have been really cool. Maybe you could join forces with some other GB with high interest (e.g., toxic), add some new legends in celebration of SmallFry, and move this great set into production. :-D

I wonder how they would look in SA profile... They're a bit thicker. Can SP shoot poly into SA?

Pretty sure this is the opposite of what they were going for with the Cherry Replica initiative... but i get what you're saying :) this is totally hot

  The full orange set looks like gold in dim lighting!  Very nice amber effect!  I agree it looks a tad over the top, but nonetheless, that warm golden glow is just so nice!

Any chance I could get the SVG with the legends?

I'd like to roll support for this into my little online layout editor.  (And if I can track down an electronic version of Gorton, I want to add that legend-font as well...)

Thanks!

There is no TTF of Gorton, however "Engravers Gothic BT" is the close enough.

Thanks for that... it's not perfect (some real obvious differences, like the ampersand), but it'll do.  I'll get that into my next version.

Hopefully I can get the Cherry Replica legend too...

I know I'm a bit late to the party here (came by this thread while catching up on news from the toxic GB) but can I just saw these photos may be the sexiest thing I have seen in keyboards ever. I was waiting until WASD make a code with red switches but hell, I might have to buy whatever they get in stock just hoping a set like this is produced that I can stick on it.
