also, what the heck are scoops
Instead of Wyse nipples or normal dashes, SCOOPS!
What about dashed, nipples with scoops?

unfortunately, we haven't budgeted for scoops and i'm going to say from seat-of-pants calculation that we can't afford them :(

I say we add them to the plans. Moose was also planning on spreading the scoops love to previous sets, pending he could get an affordable tier etc. I'll let you two work it out.

Edit: I would also love to see scoops with nipples like Qsanity said. Scoops on their own aren't my favorite.

there are a handful of legends left. basically the tenkey and the '9'. boilermaker is on vacation until tomorrow (or was it later? crap, i can't remember..) though, so it's been taking a little longer to get through the last of the keys; hashbaz is flyin' solo (THROUGH THE DANGER ZONE)

I'm back again with more dumb questions but I don't know where else I should ask (sorry if I'm in the wrong place):
- How this fundraising works?
- Are we going to get the keycaps in the CapBadAss picture?
- How much it will cost?

We are very very close to finishing the legend SVGs.  Real life has gotten the better of hashbaz and myself delaying this effort a bit.

We have the entire tenkeless set ready to submit.

The Tenkey has been drafted and needs minor revision/placement.

I expect the entire set of legends to be cutting next week.

I'm not sure which other replica legends you mean...

If you mean the GMK sets from Ivan's group buy, those are not truly replica legends as they use the original molds.

If you mean the sets that e.g., imsto sells, then see jdcarpe's post above.

If you mean the various other group buys that have been labelled "Cherry replica" (e.g., moogle kits), then these are the same legends as those.

The problem is GMK require HUGE MOQ and take a while to get orders in
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

So, why make a new one if one already exists?

You do realize that GMK, imsto, and SP are three different companies right? They won't have the same molds. Imsto doesn't even have molds since he uses a dye-sub process. Double shot injection molding would need molds. This molding is for SP so that they have a Cherry replica font. GMK wouldn't share their molding with SP...

Future GBs at SP will have nice looking Cherry fonts and legends. It doesn't make them faster or cheaper.

This whole thing was started before GMK was known about. But there are GBs in place now, and there will be more in the future that won't reach the MOQ that GMK sets. This is especially so for some of the things that SP allows us to work with, such as tsangans, ISO kits, etc, which can have very low numbers. So, with some GBs, we're stuck with SP. Well, with that said, some people really prefer the Cherry font over other fonts, such as SPs stock font. So it doesn't matter through what other avenues Cherry font can be obtained. Due to these circumstances, creating these Cherry legend replicas for use with SPs superior price tiering system is why.

This is quite exciting!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

ISO keys are not part of this initial big submission and test set.  They will get done either with the corrections from the proof set that SP is running for us or during a subsequent group buy.

We have the 1.25x left shift already cut.  I'm not sure whether it's possible to cut a new legend for the ISO enter key ... i3oiler might know more there but I think I remember ISO kits from other sets having blank enters.

So that leaves a 1x backslash.  What else is required for a basic ISO set?

I'm not sure what the plans are for the GH polycarb set that mkawa and boiler are doing as the first Cherry replica set, but I would imagine they'll include the standard options for ISO, 10key, and tsangan kits.

Sorry if this is in poor taste due to SmallFry's passing but I'd like to ask a question if possible. Will there be any plans to do Tsangan/Anti-Caps Lock kits in future?
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Cherry replica tsangan kits already exist.  A Caps Lock/Control switch kit would be trivial to produce.  It'll all depend on what future group buy runners want to offer.

legend production is in process and hash and boiler are debugging some legend issues with SP. the full prototype set we produce will very likely actually be a copy of nathan's set. we might hopefully have this in *fingers crossed* about 6-8 weeks depending on how things go.

Is the @ symbol slightly rotated right?

And the # looks a little short top and bottom compared to left and right.

Perhaps this is what cherry legends look like I don't have any to compare :( .
