The script is pretty lame right now. It's more or less hard-coded for this buy. I'll work on generalizing it and making it nice and maybe post it in a wiki for group buy organizers.do you transfer that information from the google spreadsheet to another spreadsheet where it will update you with totals of what people owe and what not? I don't think using Google Docs' spreadsheet and form was my idea. It was in Click Clack's failed Friday sale thread, I think I suggested even survey monkey survey could be better than doing private messages. And then someone else mentioned that Sixty used Google's form for his Red Alert orders, and I said, oh yeah, I remember that. Then just to prove a point that Google's form could make group buys and sales easier, I created a mock form to test for it. I can't take credit for this idea. :-)

I think it's hilarious that I was ridiculed for wanting left-stemmed un-stepped capslocks, but hardly anyone says anything at all about all the other people that want something that other people don't. Like that dolchbag.

Because at these quantities (the prices in the OP are based on 10 units per color), each key is insanely expensive. Also, ISOADAPT shares the Backslash key with the standalone BACKSLASH. So if we buy 10 of each, the Backslash key will be in a cheaper price tier than the other keys in ISOADAPT.

PRICING
As usual, prices will decrease as we get more orders. Some of the above will probably not get a ton of interest, and thus will be expensive. Nothing will be dropped unless there is no one willing to buy.
The prices below are guestimates based on some numbers I pulled out of a hat: 25 base kits and 10 of everything else. Yes, these prices are expensive. Don't worry about that for now, just order what you want and the popular ones will come down. We should be in the $20 range for the base kits once we hit 50 orders.
And remember that the colors have separate pricing tiers. Sad but true.

The line thickness doesn't match either of the two line weights we've chosen - the mouse cursor is all wonky... I dunno. Just looks like it's tacked on rather than blending in.
EDIT: I guess I'd like to amend that the legend itself isn't all that bad, mainly it's a consistency problem with the cutter size. The mouse cursor is pretty roughly done though, including the lack of faithfulness to a mouse cursor orientation.

Double shots are the reason I got into this Moogle-kittery - dye subs lack the kick! Also, if you're going for a Cherry replica, isn't the only option really DS?

Not sure I'm following you ... I mean the Caps Lock key that's in the bottom left position, replacing the Control key. Since the Anti-Caps Lock kit is for switching the two. "Caps Lock" on that little key looks a bit crowded. I'll come up with a mockup tonight.
My RGBY OP was full of colored, highlighted stuff and it ended up looking like a mess. With this one I tried to keep the OP as clean and simple as possible, with very short paragraphs and a separate post for updates/order summary. I only embiggened the important stuff about prices. I don't want it to turn into an unreadably loud and dense Ragnorock OP. :P
I can't just give a simple breakdown of price at each tier because some of the sets influence each other. Like if we order a bunch of extra space bars that influences the price of the base kit because space bar might end up in a cheaper tier than the kit as a whole. ISOADAPT and FULLMOD also share the Enter key, and extra Backlashes influence ISOADAPT.
Having said that, I think it's the case that the sets influencing each other will never cause the prices to go up. So I will make a breakdown that treats the sets in isolation. When we get to those breaks for each set, the price might actually be cheaper depending on what else was ordered, but it will never be higher. I'll work on that and try to get it posted by tonight.
I'm still hoping that you'll go with the moogle 2 windows and menu. And that you'll make a kit with just 2 windows keys and a menu key. But I would be fine if it also included flat capslock and spacebar since those are the 5 keys that people need to replace from 99-hk sets.
Moogle 2 windows and menu are totally wrong. I recently got one and had to sell it. They just didn't look right. The windows logo is a big blob. Too big and too thick.

Holy ****e! 11 pages in like 24 hours...you guys are nuts. :) I apologize if this has already been brought up, but I just got done putting in a 16-hour day and I don't have time to read through all of the pages, I need to get to bed. My question is this:
As I recall, the 1.5x Mod Kit was primarily aimed at people who want to keep the 1.5x modifiers but just have them remade in the same style as the rest so they all match. Considering there will probably be a fair number of Phantom owners in that group (e.g. "me" :biggrin:) then the one thing that's missing from this kit to make it complete are 2 1x modifiers in the same color scheme. I realize it may be too late for this to be changed, and I really apologize for missing this detail in the IC thread you ran, but if it wouldn't be too much additional cost to throw in 2 blank 1x modifiers into this kit, then I would greatly appreciate it. If that's not possible then I'll just have to try and get them direct from SP, but I suspect that I'm not the only one who could use them. :nod:

BTW has anyone ever seen what a new dolch goes for? All that I see on ebay is used...
New? Never seen new Dolch keyboards before. They were very expensive when they were new. Companies bought them to actually use them for real work. They were network sniffers. Most Dolch outer shells look to be beaten up since they are portables and were moved from job site to job site. The good thing is most Dolch keycaps are in good shape because when they were not in use the keyboard was folded in and be protected. The bad thing is due to how the software is used, the arrow keys are usually shiny. Of the 5 sets that I have I think only one set's arrow keys that are in good shape. That may apply to the Esc key as well.

Comparing Dolch moogle kit base set price in this group to the white or black moogle kit in the last moogle kit group buy is comparing apples and oranges. I.e. it makes no sense.

Thats just it I think if people understood they could use a black or beige cherry alpha&numbers and this set would go with them, they'd be more likely to purchase one, litster you've got both sets, would an extended dolch moogle look good against black or beige cherries?

The work I put in up front to automate things has been paying off nicely. The time and effort burden of taking orders and keeping the thread updated has been waaaay less than my RGBY buy (and less error-prone to boot). Any future group buy organizer that doesn't use Google form+spreadsheet (or something similar) for ordering is nuts.

R3's from ascaii have already begun, and I remember him saying that it's going to be his last round.
I don't know how deterministic his timeline is, but I got the impression that he going through the boards as he can. I wouldn't expect him to wait until he sells all of the used and notched sets before posting up the next batch of whatever he finds. Maybe I am wrong.
Anyway, I have my set. I just have a feeling there will be a backlog of people realizing that they need one of these in the near future. The term "Moogle" doesn't lend itself well to explaining what it actually is or why it is needed...especially to a noob. :)

Big thanks should go out to hashbaz for giving us a heads up via PMs on the items that weren't popular and ended up being very expensive like the $105.00 MOD15_dl kit because only 3 sets were ordered.

In order to get the arrow exactly right, you're going to have to treat the 'pointer' section as you would one of the windows-logo-panes. I don't see this working with our traditional single-line approach and get that fullness it has. Melissa just had me send her an outline of the windows logo shapes (not center lines), and they handled it from there. Let me know if what I just said makes no sense at all... :)

if you have time, the bugging the postmaster would be quite nice. in practice, i've found that postal managers are extremely pedantic people and will prosecute ne'er do wells to the extremely full extent of the law.

Oh jeez, I didn't realize how much got rolled back.
I asked Melissa about the tiny arrowhead on the Enter prototype, and she responded by telling me she's having the legend guys recut it. This to me means that the small arrow was a screw-up and not a result of something being wrong with the SVG or the instructions I gave her. Hopefully I should have the new key in hand by the end of this coming week.
I expect the actual "Enter" text to be unchanged on the new prototype, so I'm adjusting the other SVGs based on the comparison of the prototype to a real Cherry Enter key. Specifically, the text should be slightly taller. I'll also ask Melissa if making the text bigger allows us to use a thicker cutter, which would match the Cherry keys a bit better.
tldr: We are waiting on a third(!) Enter prototype. This sucks and delays the order, but I think it's worth it to increase confidence in the look of the final keys.
Will this be the second free prototype?
Btw, can anyone tell me why the modifiers from round 1/dolch style looks like modifiers from a black moogle kit?

Is it my eyes, or is the arrowhead not filled in? To me it looks like a hand drawn arrow, while the line-art appears more filled in. I'm not complaining; it looks good as it is--just wondering if SP needs to keep trying before they disappoint you.

Real Soon Now. I spent last night tweaking the legends, and I'll go over them again tonight to make sure they're consistent with each other and with the existing cycloverid Ctrl/Alt/Shift legends. Having the Enter SVG as a known baseline helps a lot.
How much is the dolch base set? I'm not satisfied with my Round 1's modifiers. Perhaps a dolch moogle kit will help?

You'll need a FULLMOD kit as well to get Enter and Backspace. And don't forget that you'll still have the PgUp/PgDown and PrintScr clusters in ALL CAPS.

I would still take a stepped capslock if it's available. I can center it myself. I also have boards that don't need to be centered :D

Sadly there was an understanding issue with the centre stem stepped capslock. When I was asking for the centre stem stepped caps lock I was referring to centre stem in regards to the entire keycap, but SP understands it as centre stem for the touch surface which is what we refer to it as off-centre stem.
I have spoken with Melissa all morning via email and it is impossible for them to produce a centre stem stepped caps in the way we want them :(
With that being said I did get some progress with the "Lock" legend on stepped caps lock, they are willing to reproduce those with no ETA at this point in time.
I know some people will be disappointed with this news but sadly nothing can be done in regards to this, I've done all I can but it's out of my control.

They can do all the tooling they want, its physically impossible to make a fully centered, stepped caps lock. The "step" hits the body of the switch when its pressed down preventing it from activating the switch. The only solution to that is a longer stem and that would cause the cap to sit higher.

Make the touch surface slightly larger. Although I'm not sure that I would personally trust them to do this right and still have it come out looking good.

Our Caps Locks should look significantly better than that.OK great - don't want to sound like the negative nancy but I've always believed it do it once do it right. I would not spend money on keys that look like the example GIF I showed. I'm excited to move away from the comic-sans modifiers that we have to use from SP and am grateful for any work done in this area :)

Guess you missed it but the answer seems to be a definitive no. Head back a couple of pages and read hashbaz's response to this request. Essentially he doesn't want to force everyone into getting something that they didn't order based on the wishes of a few.

After getting my first decent set of Cherry double shots, I now have the bug for a nice caps lock and modifier set. Is it too late to be part of this in any way?

The keys look great overall. Here's a few pics of the Dolch on my white Filco. This is my most yellowed set of Dolch keys...I hadn't realized just how much I'd grown fond of the yellowed legends on the original key caps. Almost makes the white legends on the Moogle kit look out of place. I'm officially voting for a cream cheese legend when we do the Dolch replica, call it the "vintage look". ;)
I received mine yesterday from the guardian of the universe. Was I supposed to get two enters. Looks like I got one basekit, but in the fullmod kit, there are two enter keys.
I'm not complaining, but I haven't been keeping up with this topic like I should have, and I'm wondering what's up.
Got my stuff over the weekend and it looks with other than the white Cherry spacebar. Its nearly PURE white. Can we have it redone or something?
Here's a pic of it next to a white spacebar from a pink Filco tenkeyless (the whitest caps Filco makes). Nearly identical. The R3 spacebar is on the bottom.
And original Cherry spacebar on top/left, R3 in the middle, and "regular" white Filco spacebar on the bottom/right.
And here is my white Filco keyboard with a complete NOS set of Cherry doubleshots, the R3 moogle kit, and R3 spacebar. Spacebar isn't even close. Stock Filco spacebar is a better match.
Can we have em remade and pay extra so the moogle kits don't go to waste?

The spacebar is markedly whiter than even cherry PBT. CCnG space is one of the closest matches out of recent GBs.
I’ll post a pic with 100% unyellowed since it’s PBT Cherry dye subs as soon as I get my moogles. Which could still take a month. :D
"Light gray" space bars from WASD are also a pretty good match for white Cherry keys.

One issue, the left Shift doesn't have enough space in my Filco case. It gets stuck when I press it down - might be the only one with that problem.
But I got original shift keys anyway, so it's not too bad.
No keycaps were waiting for me :(

Well, somehow I lost my entire post just now but yeah, very disappointed this wasn't explicitly mentioned anywhere in the thread of the linked threads from the OP.
From the first page - "To fix this, we make moogle kits, which replace the incompatible keys and allow you to use Cherry sets on your Filcos, Leopolds, Rosewills, Duckies, etc. This image from ripster's wiki shows his keyboard with blanks in place of the incompatible keys. A moogle kit replaces those blanks with keys made by SP that have custom legends designed to match the Cherry legends as closely as possible. Cherry sets come in black and white. Dolch computers also came with keycaps made by Cherry in a grey and dark grey color scheme."
VERY misleading. This was my first group buy that wasn't just for an escape key and this was ****. I'm not too upset by the legends (disregarding the hyperbole surrounding how accurate they are) I can't believe the keys use a completely different profile but the OP doesn't mention it.

The meager number of extras will go on sale soon. I have fewer than 10 extra base kits of each color. There are more fullmod kits, but still fewer than 20 of each.
Any ideas on how to fairly offload these? The extras for my RGBY group buy (around 20 sets) were snapped up in less than an hour. I don't really want to do that again.

Right. Which is why, if someone does decide to run a small ANSI moogle kit with GMK, it needs to have Backspace, Tab, and Enter, as well as the usual Caps Lock, Shifts, and 1.25x bottom row mods. The Esc, F5-F8, and nav clusters aren't as necessary, since they are separated visually.
So does anybody have spare beige sets? I have so many unusable beige sets that need Moogle, I wouldn't even mind SP caps at this point.
