I'm not much of a swapper. I used all my phones for 3+ years until 2010. I've gone Nokia 5130 -> some cheap Android-based Huawei -> Nokia 5800 since then. I'd love to get a decent smartphone with good community support (Maemo/MeeGo/... or CyanogenMod), but I can't decide which one should I buy. I guess I'll just wait to see what Jolla comes with. The N900 / N9 have an awesome community, and I could easily recommend them if you like to modify/etc your phone (if I wasn't really interested in some specific apps, not available on it, I would definitely stay with the N9 !).
There's also the worst case scenario: dumbphone or Android. You can't really go wrong with a Nexus brand phone if you do get an Android device.
I still use a Nokia N800, so I know the community quite well. It's awesome. I wanted to get an N900, but I was on budget, and then... well, I was worried about battery life and dying microUSB connectors. So I waited for Meltemi. No luck with that. I've had a chance to use Dat N950 — it's a pity there were only few of them and only for developers. (...) So here I am, desperately awaiting the new phones by Jolla... or GTA04 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Openmoko#Golden_Delicious_GTA04_board). There's also the worst case scenario: dumbphone or Android.Yes, we can't thank Nokia right now, with their Lumias and WP7/8 bulls**t ...
My phone history isn't anything glorious.Right, the Note is quite a great "phablet" (I really dislike that term, but whatever). I'm more than impatient to get my Note 2. I didn't keep the first one that long (money problems ATM), but the screen was gorgeous, and that's when I really started to use my iPad less and less. (My mom was happy to get it though :p)
Some cheap Ericsson phone around '06 -> Somewhat cheap Samsung flip phone late '07 -> died, Samsung Omnia 2 late '09 (first taste of my own smartphone) -> Bold 9700 early '11 -> Galaxy SII Aug'11 -> Galaxy Note Nov'11
Still got the Note. Thing is pristine and I love the thing to bits. Easily the favorite all in one device I own. The Bold 9700 came close second when paired with an iPod Touch I had at the time. If I had cash to blow I'd trade up my OG Note for a Note II, however the Note does what I want perfectly for now and functions beautifully.
Not to mention the new phones that are coming out become increasingly infuriating with non-removable battery, storage, and other stupid gimmicks that I don't care about.
MHL? Bunating, give me my bloody microHDMI port.

And as Google is restricting a lot these days (no more removable battery, no Micro-SD port, etc), it won't be better on those points. Samsung "stands up" against this, but they will more likely finish by not using Android on their devices anymore, I guess.
Still, there a very few handsets that have integrated Micro-HDMI ports ...
Yes, I definitely bet so ! :)Right, the Note is quite a great "phablet" (I really dislike that term, but whatever). I'm more than impatient to get my Note 2. You're right it is. And when you get the Note II, you're going to love the hell out of it.
I bought the thing because it had top tier specs at the time and the largest, highest res screen. I'm not as irate about the banding issues that Note screens have, but otherwise I love it. I don't even use the S-Pen, I bought it for the screen size to read manga and watch anime on the go, and it does just that.
Until Diaz brought about 10bit encoding. But that's another story.
Because I got the International version at the time of release, everyone who wasn't really into tech didn't even know what a Note was as it hadn't come to North America till late late winter.
Everyone's reaction to it was hilarious every time.
The only thing I wish Samsung would have included in the Note would be the status LED. I really did miss it from my BlackBerry, and now that the Note II has it it's every bit more enticing.

I used the S-Pen quite a bit, at the time I was trying to learn katakanas and hiraganas, as I had some time to learn Japanese, so it helped me to rehearse/write those[/do that again if I find some time.
I'm not the biggest fan of the design you'll ever find, as I'm not fond of the S3 and it looks just like a bigger S3. However the Gray version looks "classy" to me, so that's okay ;)
I guess you had some difficulties/high costs while importing it, right ?
I don't know when the II will be out in Canada, but I saw people over at XDA already importing it too.
Much better than the GS3 I hate that physical iPhone looking home button... almost like Samsung should be sued...oh wait...(I don't care for Apple)
Many Androphones for you guys, that's funny because in France, there are mostly iPhones/Symbian phones, but Android is coming in force these last months, and we see more and more GS2 and GAce phones nowadays.
Symbian is almost non-existant over here in North America. I'm assuming most mid-tier Android phones are popular with people who would like a new smartphone but would rather not pay the top tier premium I believe.Oh, okay. Well it tends to disappear here too, but as it conquered the low-cost mobile phones market for a long time, it's still well established there.
I like Apple's ecosystem, and had I bought into it I'd probably have an iPhone. That said, I didn't and wanted a very versatile device that I could make my own and do with it as I please. That is why I went with Android personally.
I don't use a "smart" phone. I am not a sheep.lol at people that can't adapt to new technology labelling everyone else as sheep to justify it.
I have tried the Galaxy Note. The pen interface and built-in pen apps are horrible. It crashed a couple of times. The interface is slow: my 12 year old Palm Pilot is more responsive.
I've got a good old Motorola Droid 1. It gets the job done...
Blackberry bold 9650, moto Droid 2 r2d2 edition, Samsung Droid charge, to Samsung galaxy s3. I really want the note 2 though....even though its really just a bigger s3

And that's a shame they don't make phones with a full "sliding" keyboard anymore.the newest droid has it i believe or at least one of the newer ones.
I liked Droid/Milestone for that ;)
^ best phone :D
Still rocking the iPhone 3gs. Thinking about finally upgrading and getting a 5.haven't used the 5, but the upgrade should be phenomenal for you considering the difference in the display... it will spoil you :P
using wifes iphone4, it feels like a baby's toy, it's such an inferior smartphone now
haven't used the 5, but the upgrade should be phenomenal for you considering the difference in the display... it will spoil you :P
I'm using an iphone 5, its like my iphone4 but with a bigger screen and it dsnt run like ****.
Good to read/hear that others like it. Even though it's less successful than the GS3, it definitely is a great phone ! :)
I have the Bionic. I liked it right up until the point when the OTA'd ICS... Since doing that update apps crash all the time, speaker phone doesn't work, YT app won't work, etc...
Took it to the Verizon store and all they can say is "When it does that just remove the battery and it'll reset itself and work fine." Seeing I have insurance on it I wanted to chuck it at the ground and ask if that was an easy way to remove the battery and reset it... But my luck they would refuse to honor the insurance at that point :D
I use the iPhone 5. because im a robot.
U.S. Cellular?yep :(
I've had many phones. None that I've kept for even a year. The one I've managed to keep the longest is the HTC EVO 4G.
iPhones are the best for phones because I've had a 4s for a couple years now, and it's just never crashed, AT ALL. However before this phone I had an HTC Incredible which crashed constantly. To me, a phone needs.... to run. You need to be able to um. You know. Receive phone calls?by a couple of years you mean less than 16 months as the phone released october 2011....and its january 2013.
Just got a Nexus 7 however and truly the tablet experience is superior on Android. Much more freedom and customization.

What rom do you run? :)Harmonia 3.0
Woah...by that standard, I'm just a chump with a rooted tablet and say hi to the guys on the ROM IRC. :(What rom do you run? :)Harmonia 3.0
It's meant for the Evo V which is just an Evo 3d meant for Virgin Mobile, it's one of the more popular roms for the Evo V with tens of thousands of downloads. While it's stock based, at one time I was building CyanogenMod for several phones, but it's a hassle to do unless you do it all the time and I just couldn't.
I actually maintain a whole family of roms (12) for 5 different Virgin Mobile Android phones as well as a chat forum for them (Vmroms). Considering how many phones and roms I support, I'm probably the largest rom developer for Virgin Mobile, and in some cases, I'm the primary rom developer as all or nearly all of the roms for certain models are based on my work. Right now, I just build from stock or from a base CM rom provided to me by another developer who does it on a regular basis, but I am capable of it. Instead of building from source, I maintain a build server that is loaned out to other devs on my forum, it can remotely compile ICS roms in well under an hour and kernels in under 3 minutes, compared to the hours it takes most peoples computers.
Woah...by that standard, I'm just a chump with a rooted tablet and say hi to the guys on the ROM IRC. :(I was once there as well.
Using a Lumia 920 now, anyone else with wp8?I have used it a bit. It is very different than Android, and I felt somewhat confused. Though, I do love the "Metro" look on those phones. God, teh sechs....
Using a Lumia 920 now, anyone else with wp8?Still rocking a Lumia 800 and waiting for the 7.8 update this month.
Does anyone use some type of library App manager that store your Apps for Android. like itunes? I have been searching for hours. Can't find one. I know they are out there though.you mean like backup all your apps that are on your phone?

Or you mean manages all the apps you've purchased?
Because google play store automatically does the 2nd.
and the 1st i use Titanium Backup. U gotta be rooted, and its worth paying the dev for the full version
I do use Titanium backup but I heard about some Desktop App manager like itunes.contacts should have synced with your google account
I just changed Roms, and I have to manually install all the apps on Titanium backup. Is it easier in the full version?
Any way you guys know of to save contacts? I lost all my contacts. It seems that I have none on my Sim, or not able to find it.
Oh, I am running Wicked ROM v6 for jb on my T-MoGs3
Wow, Q. That looks extremely battery / cpu intensiveHehe, Just got it today.
A land line?Nah, it comes out of the house and hangs from poles. I don't think it touches the land anywhere.
/me GASPS!
LG Dare
Indestructible, literally got ran over and nothing happened to it.
Wasn't the Optimus with AP20, was it?No, Optimus M2 and Optimus Elite.
Galaxy S3! Extremely happy with it. Unlike my old EVO which I constantly changed ROMS I am actually running stock on this thing and I am completely happy. On an Evo 4G I run Evervolv. Check them out at dl.evervolv.com. Pretty stable, but always the latest source. I'm currently running 4.2.2 on my old Evo. :)
I'm not sure if Evervolv has an Incredible 2 ROM, but if they do... I highly suggest them :P
Anyone know if you could get S Note for Galaxy Note II for Galaxy S3?
Recently swapped to a Nexus 4, as it went back in stock on the Play Store.
Not a big fan of the on-screen buttons, though I made myself to these, and the rest is great for now on ! I'm a big fan of stock Android, well, AOKP more precisely (I can't picture an Andro-phone without a Custom ROM to be honest), and I'm really fulfiled with this rom on the N4.
That said, I'll probably swap to the HTC One once it comes out here, I guess I won't be disappointed, as long as they fixed the hardware problems we could have on the One X. ;)
If someone gets the new blackberry please review it. :)Every review I have seen has been spectacular, at least after the update.
Verizon Galaxy NexusThanks for that ROM. It's been awhile since I've updated mine, so I think I'll give this a try. Looks really nice.
with ParanoidAndroid 4.2.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1712954)
One of my favorite roms, next to AOKP.
Ubuntus phone looks pretty sweet too.
can't get away from my iphones! Thinking about trading for a galaxy note though.

Do it! I have a SGNote2 and it's amazing!
I love TouchWiz.
codymaust, have you held the phones? I suggest you try them out before you decide :).
I use two hands a lot of the time as I find that most comfortable too, but the Note2 was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. So I went with the S3 instead of the Note2. I am extremely happy I did because the S3 is an awesome phone. I might get the note3 if that ever comes out though :D. I'm a phone slut.codymaust, have you held the phones? But the they'll have to wait a month until the S4 is released lol. I'd suggest the note 2 (720/quad core Exynos is fine), but this is coming from someone who predominantly uses phones with two hands except for phone calls.

My mom and I both have a SGNote2 and we both think the S3 looks like a toy lol.
The Note3 will probably be bigger (Yikes) and I consider myself more of a Samsung wh*** than a phone slut lol
I thought you must work for Samsung or something...
:)
So what do you guys think about the new Galaxy S4?
I got a pretty big tech boner when I was reading about it.
P900 - felt cutting edge at the time! I could play Monkey Island on SCUMMVM with that good old resistive touchscreen precision!
I wish I had a friend or leaved in the US, I would have bought a Nexus 4 at 300$
The price difference between here and the US is 220$ -.-
I think phones ought to get smaller - big screens are great for viewing content, but unless you have long/big fingers, you can't really use them one handed. I can use my father's iPhone 5 using my right-hand, but my Nexus 4 more than often requires two hands to position it properly.
I actually kind of miss the smaller 3.7" form factor on my old HTC Desire.
Honestly, a smaller screen is suited for Android. iPhone has stupid buttons at the very top of the screen. Why? If they had them at the bottom, it'd be more reasonable for them to say 3.5" is a good size.
Unfortunately, while they are starting to consider 4inch screens again, they still only want their high end phones to have larger screens.
Yes, but you can find large phones with high end parts, you cannot find a 4 with high end parts. Almost all high end is over 4.5 and rising.Unfortunately, while they are starting to consider 4inch screens again, they still only want their high end phones to have larger screens.
Samsung Mega (lol) 5.8" and 6.3" are both bigger than the Note II and come with mediocre internals.
Ah yes, I took the "only" in your post the wrong way. So, which companies are "starting to consider 4 inch screens again"?Hehe, no worries.
I run a cell phone related chat forum (and participate on several), and it seems like there is two camps forming.
One group who want larger screens (up to 6 and 7in!) and a second who feel that a screen size of around 4 inches is perfect.

Women don't mind the larger phones since they can put them in their handbags. Men tend to keep their phones in their pockets. Most wouldn't want to put a large phone in there.Actually, based on what I see in cell phone chat rooms, it's the men wanting the larger size.

We don't always carry a purse, and have you seen the size of our hands and pockets. Large phones are too large and heavy. Besides, even if we do carry a purse, the darn things can often be considered a deadly weapon, we don't need any more weight in there.
There are a lot of guys (I suspect the more active ones) who want smaller ones too, but it seems far more men want the larger screen than the women.
Not every decent phone has an enormous display. The RAZR M has a 4.3" display, but the side bezels are so thin that the phone feels tiny. It's about the same width as the DROID 2 (3.7" display) but only half as thick.I like it, pretty much exactly the phone I want, too bad it's on Verizon, and Motorola often does bad things to the bootloader.
Compensating for something? They seem to view them as a mini tablet is what I gather.
bad eyesight

Now they just need to drop about $150 and be able to get it on Virgin. LOLI like it, pretty much exactly the phone I want, too bad it's on Verizon, and Motorola often does bad things to the bootloader.
Having used the Razr M and my current Razr MAXX HD, I will say that the M is a very nice phone and fits in the pocket much better!
Also just wanted to post to say the bootloader now has an unlock (even on verizon) as well as newest version root thanks to djrbliss....
Want HTC one so bad, WHY NO VERIZON?? :(
Honestly, in my opinion, there is not a single Android phone that warrants purchase unless it is a Nexus. And Verizon is CDMA, which really kind of ****ed that up with the Galaxy Nexus. But even then, it didn't matter if they posted updates. We had what we needed and took the maguro updates, mashed them with toro stuff, and went on our way. You just don't get that with a lot of Android phones that aren't Nexus phones.

Honestly, in my opinion, there is not a single Android phone that warrants purchase unless it is a Nexus.I don't know about US but Samsung is very popular in Europe these days. I own an sgs3 and had an sgs before, I didn't chose out of habit but researched some before getting this one... alternatives were htc one x and nexus 4 and both have worse battery and non-removable stuff. The nexus 4 battery tested really bad, not to mention I would need to buy it from Germany since google play doesn't allow me to buy it here.
Don't forget the screen protector...
Don't forget the screen protector...
My previous phone (iPhone 4S) which I had for almost 2 years without a screen protector. No scratches, no mark whatsoever. I hate those bubbles on the screen protectors (some of them just won't go away).
IPhone 4 from January of 2011...
i think i was due for an upgrade in early 2013, but never got it.
the glass in front of my front camera is cracked, so i can't take good pictures...and haven't been able to for the last 7 months...besides that, i love this phone :)

When you get your summer job, go on eBay and buy an iPhone 4 replacement back glass.
I'm also a member of the no screen protectors club. I used to use an Otterbox Defender case, and I ripped the stupid plastic out that covers the screen. Now I use a Magpul Field case.
Haha no screen protectors club. My phone is always naked on all sides :)

might have to wait another year for the upgrade..so i'll look into it.
the main problem is not the back glass (which is horribly cracked as well)
it's the small little circle of glass that protects the lense..maybe i could buy a replacement of that?

The back glass comes with that attached, and only costs like $15 or so. Even comes with the little screwdriver you will need. And as a bonus, you can get a different color if you want! They can do this for you at the mall, but I'm sure they charge more for it. :)

I'm hunting right now..i see one for $7, without the apple logo (lol bootleg) and it comes with the tool..it's black as well
I've tried screen protectors on most of my smart phones, but the feeling of the glass just can't be beat. And I've only had a scratch on one screen, which wasn't even created by me but the previous owner of said phone.
Also; the more I think about the Note 2, the more I want it. Might as well wait for the next release if they are planning to do one.

Reading this stuff is interesting. I'm still rocking the iPhone 4 I got when they came out. Been iPhoning it since the first model. There weren't many options back then, unlike now.
Would like a bigger screen, but too big of a phone doesn't work for me...I'm kind of a 'guy on the go'
Recently have been considering leaving the Mac family as far as phones go...but for as many people that I know are not using iPhone, just as many switched from iPhone to something else only to go flying back to iPhone.
I've been tight on funds as well and that is part of a decision making process I'm not used to. If I stay with iPhone may get a "5" in a few months with "5+" comes out. What a wimp.
iSuck
I'm content with my iphone 4.
the biggest regret i've ever had is jailbreaking my phone and then accidently corrupting it..when i restored it, i had to get IOS 6.
worst decision ever..if only i could go back to IOS 5.1 :'(

Just got a Nexus 4 after using an iPhone 4S for almost 2 years. Loving it so far!Needs more roots. :P

Going from a Nexus to iOS makes you feel so crippled.
Just got a Nexus 4 after using an iPhone 4S for almost 2 years. Loving it so far!
HTC just announced a "Google edition" HTC One. The One without the bloat... I think they just took the crown for world's best smartphone!
No carrier subsidy, the way it is supposed to be. :)
What carrier gives you unlimited for 50/mo some markets, sheesh...
i use a motorola atrix 4g. i am a dev on xda for the device. waiting for the note 3.Shouldn't be too much longer now :)
I'm using StraightTalk unlimited for $45/mo on T-Mo's network. They say unlimited, but I think they start throttling at 2GB. Not sure, as I haven't hit that limit yet.
Going from a Nexus to iOS makes you feel so crippled. Most Iphone users I run into use their phone for Facebook, phone and camera and that's pretty much it. If you don't use it for anything, of course you don't feel crippled. Nothing like carrying a delicate $700 computer just impress your friends.

One of my neighbors is paying $350 a month for 4 Iphones in his house.
Drug dealer or adulterer?Truck driver with a wife and two kids.
So jelly of that One
And my two that I'm down to are the s4 and the htc one.
And my two that I'm down to are the s4 and the htc one.
You have both?
They are both so nice, but the s4 i think is too similar to the s3, doesn't bring anything fresh to the table sadly, while the One is very very nice in hand I'm a huge fan of that phone too bad I'm just so used to iOS I don't think I would change
He probably likes removable storage and battery ;)While both of those are good, I really don't think in this day and ages it's really needed

I mean back then with the BlackBerry you definitely needed to take out the battery to reboot it but phones these days not taking out the battery really doesn't limit much, though I can understand someone wanting full access to their phone.
As for removable storage, I think some people just don't require it while others must have it sorta deal, if I have it I would put in the micro SD and probably never take it out while I know some people that take it out all the time.
I guess if you really need 64GB of extra storage, but if you're in the US with all the music online streaming apps/tools I think storage space on a phone is becoming more and more obsoleteIf you stream too much while not at home, you'll have to upgrade your data tier. It's fine if some people are okay with that, but other people like myself are not :p
Most phones comes with 9-25GB these days, personally I think it's more then enough but I also know people that requires much more then that, well thats why there's so many options of smart phones these days, everyone wants something slightly different
I guess if you really need 64GB of extra storage, but if you're in the US with all the music online streaming apps/tools I think storage space on a phone is becoming more and more obsoleteMost data plans cap out at 2-5 gigs, if you stream a lot, that's really not a whole lot of data.
There are multiple reasons why Android OEMs are getting away from the uSD card. They all have to do with money. Not having the slot simplifies both the mechanical and software design and it allows manufacturers to do storage capacity tiering, which they like. Then there is the patent encumbered file system that the SD Association decided to straddle the SDXC spec with. That is the final nail in the coffin, I'm afraid.
I do agree though, it's a matter of money for the manufacturers, but really, the cost isn't THAT much.

Besides that, it's backwards thinking.
Carriers don't want you streaming, but they keep promoting it and pushing phones that need it. Meanwhile they face shortages.
Storage is CHEAP, however if you want it built in, you will have to bed over. Look how much extra a few gigs cost on an Iphone compared to a simple SDcard. Cards are nice because you can add more later if you need it, but you can still sell the phone cheap to begin with.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but how are windows phones (the WP8)? I hear good things about and i really thinking about to test drive one if i can. I understand there are not many apps so far but the overall experience supposed to be good. I base that on Ars blogs really.
What do you sacrifice if you use a WP8 phone over Nexus?

Insightful. Makes me think.
One thing i actually love about Android is of course all the Google apps. Right now i make extensive use of Tracks which is really useful, besides that it drains your battery.
Thanks for sharing the link :)
Shoot, I have a terminal program that can do that... they gonna get sued too?
Also - OnT - caved for the better hardware in the S4... playing with it now.
Time to stock up on a profusion of charging accessories... Anyone w/ an S4 have experience with reasonably priced wall and car chargers? Preferably separate from a cable (or bundled, as long as it's not attached).
Color me irritated... I rooted my S4 and yet still can't uninstall the cruft because apparently the location it's on is somehow read only. Haven't found any info about that yet either.

Just delete the APKs.
Mm.. i come more to the conclusion that i can not part without Google.WP8 ;)
For one i like the map app and recently, Google Now. Very convenient. Also My Tracks is quite nice which i use from time to time.
After watching the video, i think WM8 is ok and has improvements some areas, but why would i need to restart the phone after upgrading? Strange. The scares app landscape is another thing that is annoying. Well that is not necessarily MS fault since the platform (at least WM8) is somewhat new. But its a breaker to me. Its hard already that some apps are only for iPhone only but its perhaps worst with WM8.
But, and thats a big but, i haven't had a chance to get my hands on a WM8 phone i relay of course only on reviews.
So far i most likely stay with my Nexus 4.
If i could get a WM8 phone cheaply (there already not that expensive i think) i might try it.

I get told the filesystem is RO. Whether it's through the phone or adb shell.

Standard micro usb stuff works with mine so far. I'm assuming you need the socket part, not the cable, though? If nothing else, I'll let you have mine as I'm not in need of it. I also have an attached car charger you can have that I don't need either.

I guess I can officially say this now: Moto X (white on white on white, 16GB).
Ok, getting a new phone this weekend with Sprint (yes I know, they only have 3g in my area, but my wife needs unlimited data and I don't want to spend $500 on a phone from Virgin).
We are trying to decide what phones to get. They are currently running a deal for a pair of Samsung S4's for $199. For the same price we can also do the iPhone 4s. Any thoughts?

That almost comes down to the apple vs android argument.

Yeah, I know. I have always liked my android phones, and my wife really likes her current iPhone 4. She has played with mine, and with her doing basically only IG, email, words with friends, and facebook, she was fine with it. Unfortunately, she uses about 5-7gb of data a month (she is currently on an unlimited data plan with Verizon on her parents plan). She has to use her phone for work and is on the internet constantly without wi-fi. Far from a power user for sure. We are going in the morning to play with all of them at the store and see what she likes.
I use the trusty old Western Electric 500 phone. I call those the "smart" phones because they never break
I have a Galaxy Note II with the ROM "JellyBean's" installed. Best phone I've ever owned.Since Galaxy Notes III is coming any further comment about pros/cons of the Galaxy Note II??
There is no root for the LTE-A as yet, too new and too uncommon.Ah... so regardless of other versions of the s4, files are different for every model... darn.

Well I know what I won't be buying. It's bad enough that I need to remove my SD card now to transfer files or use it as a thumb drive.
had an iPhone 5... sold it... had a Galaxy Note 2... sold it... had a blackberry z10... sold it... now I'm using a freaking galaxy mini and it's quite frankly the worst phone ever created... iPhone 5 was my personal favorite and will have to buy another iPhone after I finally gather the courage to flush this phone down the toilet, haha.
First phone ever was an LG Cookie, then a Samsung Gravity 3, now my gorgeous Nexus 4 16GB.
The Nexus 4 is a ridiculously good phone for it's price. The only downsides are that the back is glass as well as the front (obviously) so it's a bit fragile. Really should be used with a bumper. And no removable battery which kind of sucks. I'd still take it over the HTC One and day of the week.
Because the Nexus 4 is stock Android, and stock Android is a beautiful thing. Quick and prompt updates from Google. No gimmicky "Beats Audio" nonsense on the back of the phone.
Custom Android is the best Android.
Custom Android is a very vague term. Essentially every phone with the OEM and carrier bloatware stuffed into it qualifies as a custom ROM. I presume davkol means third-party custom ROMs like CyanogenMod, which don't really impress me either. I've tried various custom ROMs on various phones, and although they are sometimes marginally better than the manufacturer's own ROM, I've found the performance and battery life to be inferior (the guy that ports CyanogenMod to Huaewei phones has said this is an inevitability of using anything other than the OEM ROM). Not only that, but generally all these third-party ROMs are the same philosophy as OEM-customised ROMs - it's someone taking stock Android and deciding they know what's best to install for the user (launchers, apps, etc.), rather than letting the user choose themselves. Personally I'd rather have minimalist stock Android then set it up the way I want.

not really, but it's nice to look at something different.
Question for the mobile-literati; if you spend the extra coin to get an "unlocked" Android phone, and strip all the carrier-specific bloatware off of it, is that "jail-breaking" your phone?
Or does that term only come into play if you buy a phone under a contract?
I like Android as an operating system, but it annoys me no end to have all those applications I cannot delete, taking up space and prompting me endlessly for updates, even when I disable updates.
It basically works like this.
If you get for example a Galaxy S4 through a carrier, it's going to have bloatware on it.. not to mention Samsung's own bloatware. The 16GB version of the S4 is taken up by 8GB of OS and bloatware, so you're left with very little space to work with.
If that's the case, you should root and unlock the phone. After doing that, you're free to install from a vast selection of custom ROM's or pure, stock Android.
If you don't want to deal with the fuss of unlocking/rooting, you can always just buy a phone with stock Android, like the Nexus 4, or the Galaxy Nexus before it. The HTC One and Galaxy S4 was also released with the stock Android OS recently.
If you're considering a Note 3 then I have to step in again.
The Note 3 will come with a lot of Samsung software, but in this case, it's probably going to be software you will need and use if you're buying a Note 3. For example all the things you can do with the stylus, etc. If you buy a Note 3 and install stock Android on it, you will LOSE all of that functionality. Well not lose it entirely, but you will lose the pre installed Samsung apps, which are quite nice for this. You can still install 3rd party apps and whatnot for drawing, etc, but it probably won't be as good. Just something to be aware of.

Yep, that's why I still have my EVO. Calls, email, text, web, Netflix, GPS, music...all smartphones made in the last 4 years (or so) can do it. I guess it's a type of hobby to some people though. Some people constantly buy new keyboards too. ;)

No, your smartphone. Smartphones offer a lot of utility and just because you're not taking advantage of it doesn't mean they're overrated :-) Having a point and shoot quality camera alone makes them worth it to most people. But in your case I think it would be worth your time to evaluate what you do in life and how your smartphone could increase the ease with which you do it. Life without my smartphone would cost me more time, money and frustration. But I've been in the smartphone game since the beginning and have had over 50 of them, so I've had a lot of time to make use of them.I think smartphones are overrated. notdemik, I feel the same way about my S4. The plastic housing just cheapens the whole thing a little too much. I should've bought the one when I had the chance xD.You know I thought that was going to annoy me but it hasn't. Aside from a hollow sound/feeling it has when the motor vibrates it doesn't really bother me. I just want to try something new.
To be honest, I'm going to ditch the whole smartphone thing soon. I'm sick of those unpractical surveillance devices. My life has become so much better since I got rid of at least the data plan. All I need 90 % of time is OpenPandora (http://openpandora.org/), alarms clock and occasionally a durable dumbphone anyway.

...which is more durable and has longer batter life—at least in case of the outdoor ones. Moreover, it features probably a better GPS module and the same or better maps.
Seriously, battery life on smartphones is pathetic. Sleep as Android has just sucked 30 % of my phone's battery in only one night, and that's a lot, considering it can run for almost a week otherwise.
Got a nexus 4 2 weeks ago. Love everything about this phone. Excellent bang for the buck. I'll stay with this for at least 2 years.

Any cellular phone, dumb or smart, can be used to track and record the user...even if they are turned off.

About 500ml water in an appropriate cup does the trick too. Easy because the iOS also waterproofs the iPhone, right? RIGHT?

Normally the only one that tracks you is your provider and that may be correct. But smartphones give companies many more options and more precision to track people in any way. I don't think anyone can throw both in the same basket for that reason.

I think what you are referring to there is software, services, and software-as-a-service. Such things are not only ubiquitous and are not limited to smart phones, but are examples of bad security implementation and the ever increasing collection of personal information by companies. If that's what you are concerned about you need to get rid of all of your Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Blackberry devices and services ASAP.

I like your style.
How's the Galaxy Gear? My dad wanted to get one to go together with his note 3 but it's sold out in my home country atm.Having used it for the past few days, I can say it's pretty intuitive, get to the wrong screen, just swipe sideways or downwards or upwards....depending on which screen/app you're at. Calls with the watch is good, but environment must be relatively quiet to hear clearly. If you're in the midst of a crown, best use your phone as the speaker on the watch is not loud enough in a crowded area. When paired, walk out of range, your watch will vibrate and let you know BT has bee disconnected, walk into range and it automatically connects w/o your having to do anything. I'm liking it thus far, though I do think it's a tad expensive.

Hoping to upgrade to an s4 or s3 soon. Anyone know of any other good android phone that allow for an sd card? That's a dealbreaker for me, since I want at least 64gigs of storage and prefer external memory.
I'm using the iPhone 5 32gb black, I've been an iPhone user since the first gen. I'm a fan, but no fanboy. Almost jumped ship to the Nexus 4 not too long ago after I smashed the screen on my iphone and the nexus was cheaper then it's repair.
Their are many great Android devices out there even a couple nice windows phones. The iPhone 5 is tired looking already id admit, so here's hoping the iPhone 6 is more of a pack leader.

You'd be surprised what people will still pay for Apple products. I sold my 8GB 3GS a little under a year ago for $250. People are nuts.
Nokia Lumia 920 here. already have an Asus android 10" tablet, so WP is a nice change. saving up for the lumia 1520. :thumb:I have the 720 but I am lusting after the 1520 when it comes out. I love the battery life on my current phone but I love making pictures all the time and want something a bit better. Not that the 720's camera is bad, mind you. But it's no 920. :)

You'd be surprised what people will still pay for Apple products. I sold my 8GB 3GS a little under a year ago for $250. People are nuts.
Lol We should start to take unused old iphone and sell them XD
I have a very strong interest in the Jolla phone, too. It's the one I would get right now if I were to upgrade. It has an open OS based on Linux and has Android App compatibility. Nice UI, too.
Makes me sad to think what Nokia COULD have released by now if they'd stuck with MeeGo instead of switching to Windoze Phone.
Swapped my 16gb Nexus 4 for a 32gb Nexus 5 this week. Way more impressed with the attention to the exterior and Android 4.4.

I feel that the Nexus 4 has a nicer design. I'm not digging the slated Nexus logo tbh. But I can see the front of the Nexus 5 looks nicer tho.

It's just a blank piece of glass, just like the Nexus 4. And Gnex..

gnex screen isn't nice. I've seen it before. and yes it's a blank piece of glass. talking bout the positioning of the camera's & proximity sensors and such. speaking of that, LG's making quality products lately, & it's not just the Nexus series.

What are you talking about, for it's time the Gnex had an absolutely gorgeous screen. Hell, it's still nice. I have one. Over saturated and all that, but I like it. Dem deep blacks.
I agree. I will be picking up the Nexus 5 in a few weeks. I stayed away from the Nexus 4 because of the glass back, and my Gnex still does the job. But having a 5 inch IPS display would be nice, as well as that Snapdragon 800.
[snip] I really love having the full qwerty physical keyboard.Mine's red. Same phone. A good choice, and I'll be sad when I'm finally forced to use a silly touch screen phone.Show Image(http://cdn.cnet.com.au/story_media/339295079/nokia-e63_3.jpg)
Got my nexus 5 a few days ago. Couldn't be happier with it!
I use an iPhone 5. Flog me to death if you want but it's quite handy and fun, especially with iOS 7.

I just got myself a Nexus 5, really pleased with it. the camera is actually really good, despite all the reviews saying otherwise.

Current plan is to ditch the smart phone, pick up a wireless hotspot with a plan, and use an iPod touch with iMessage for everything. Then maybe have a flip razor for standard texts with a super cheap data plan.

The PAC ROM's are great, probably the best out there.Yeah, I love CM and the per-app DPI settings are something I've decided I can't live without. I only actually use them on a few apps but it makes a world of difference.
I use a jailbroken iPhone 3GS. Has the stuff I need, except a good camera..
Has anyone used the Vivaz Pro? I love the feel of the keyboard on that thing :DShow Image(http://cdn.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/sony_ericsson_vivaz_pro-540x418.jpg)
Well, 2014 has come, and with it is that "little" beast, Nokia Lumia 1520 :

I've only got it for a few days, and the change is big, not only in size but mostly in the user experience. I'm enjoying it, but it still feels like going back / downgrading because of having to use buttons again. I guess all-touch / swipe phones are the next big thing, however going from the Z10 / Jolla to anything else feels weird.
Nevertheless, I really like my Lumia ! :D

Never once have I used iTunes on windows without encountering a problem of some sort. Over a year ago when I still had that awful iphone 3 and attempted to sync it with iTunes, it would corrupt meta data and would even crash and wipe my phone, then proceed to take an hour or two reinstating the backup.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/JIsjT8I.png)
Pretty much Apple's customer support too... its super great and why I would never recommend anyone get an iPhone :)
That said I did manage to get access to music on my phone, though it required me to remove all the music from my phone first, as the update I was told I needed didn't actually fix the problem.

My parents apparently were once having an issue with iTunes in windows and when they called support the only solution they were given, apparently, was to "buy a Mac"
Real awful ****. I would hate to say that Samsung as a company is a step up from apple, with my S4, but using software that at least partially respects your freedoms is infinitately better.
Oh oh can I join the iTunes hate fest?
Man I loved zune software.
Anyway, my s4 is still alive and kicking. Might upgrade to the s5 but I really don't see a need to as this one is still running great even with the numerous times I've dropped it at work. Gotta love that plastic body.
I have an Asus the new padfone infinity. It is an phone that can be converted to a tablet.

I wonder how do you feel when you have to get the tablet against your ear to talk. I supose you have to use a hands free headset all the time. Isn't it akward?
It's impressive... Apple actually managed to make iOS worse with 7.1... Now when msg'ing on pretty much any msg app if u end a sentence with any kind of symbol and send it, the keyboard won't auto change back to QWERTY it will be stuck on the symbol keys instead!
It's impressive, when you think about.. They managed to remove a feature that's been present since maybe iOS2?
They also managed to upgrade the keyboard lag! :D

When it is in tabletmode it automatically uses the speakerphone. I usually answer with just the phone.

oh so it is 7.-1? Again apple, good job
I have a nexus 5. Ditched Verizon for tmobile. Had the Note 2 but glad to be back on a Nexus. Although I haven't flashed a rom in a couple months probably. Running Carbon on it right now.

Using the 1Mobile app store to get all the android apps resolves most people's biggest complaint of limited apps.
I have had a nexus and two iphones. I hated both iphones, but I enjoy android.

Whoah - another Q10 user! How are you liking it so far? What do you miss from your past phone, if anything? I remember commenting in your earlier thread when you were searching.
Currently running 10.2.1.2102. T-Mo US needs to hurry with an official release. The last rumor I read assume the delays are caused by t mo integrating their WiFi calling feature into the release.
I wonder if the new HTC One will have the sane speaker problems. I use the m7 and had it repaired twice now only to get the same problem again! Crackling blown speaker sound.
I want to go back to something smaller that I can operate with one hand.

Any other iOS users getting crazy harassed by reminders since the new update? My phone tells me it's work now 15mins before work, 10mins before, 5mins before, 5mins after, 10mins after and 15mins after I start work and I've no way to dismiss it...

I might actually try an iOS device when the new one comes out if it's a great device. If not I will just have to wait for the next big Android device.

I would go with the HTC. I saw reviews for it and it looks pretty damn amazing. They're coming out with a Google Play edition as well if you want vanilla android :)
I'm currently using a Galaxy S3... I don't like it anymore and I hate Touchwiz so much now.

Just a question for you android folk... I'm looking at getting the new HTC One but don't like the fact it has HTC's bonus rubbish on it, is it fairly easy to root it and put stock android on it? And if I do that would I be able to manually update the phone rather than waiting for carriers to give me updates etc??

Rooting is pretty easy, the entire process should take you no longer than an hour, and that's of course including your time on XDA to read about it and learn how to do it.
You don't even have to root, though. Just install a custom launcher, such as Nova launcher, and you'll have pretty much stock Android.

No problem! Hope you enjoy the world of Android. There's no going back once you get into it, so much customization you can do.
And another note about Nova Launcher - even though I have a Nexus 5 with vanilla Android, I still install Nova Launcher as it makes it even smoother somehow. And the gestures and everything I have really gotten used to over the years. Definitely worth checking out.

That's not exactly true.
HTC phones are a pain in the butt to root because you have to do so many pre-requistes first and I'm not talking about installing ADB on your PC. You also have to deal with a bunch of things like unlocking the bootloader and etc. Its a very long and tedious process to do all at once. If you are rooting for the first time and dont have anything setup its going to take a chunk of time.
This varies across each manufacturer and some devices are known to be more "developer" friendly meaning you can get into that **** faster.
Nexus phones are alot easier because you don't have to deal with a long process to unlock the boatloader and you can just essentialy get right to it. You don't have a bunch of propietary bull**** + locks/restrictions obstructing you. That's why nexus phones are called developer phones. Most drivers in Nexus products are open source too so we get the better tweaks and roms.
Thanks to this, its easy and straightforward to root on a Nexus device.
Generally speaking, it is not straightforward and relatively harder to root on a non nexus device.
That's a brief distinction of Nexus vs non Nexus phones.
Using nova launcher gives you a stock like appearance but that's the not the same thing as having stock android.
That's kind of like saying 2 different Linux distros using KDE are the same thing.
I did the HTC m7 google play edition conversion on an ATT m7.
That basically turned the phone into a full stock HTC one capable of recieving stock updates directly from google (OTA).
There's always that option once/if the GPE edition of the phone comes out and if some android developer makes it work.

Yeah but if you can install a diffrent launcher you don't really need to boot the device, unless you want access to all the latest updates asap, right?
I don't really follow this. Rooting the device and changing the launcher are different things.
Oh nvm I get what you are getting at.
Rooting is not the same thing as flashing a new ROM (like if you wanted to flash a 4.4.3 based ROM but your carrier is only offering you 4.4)

I assumed you would have to root the phone in order to apply updates your carrier didn't send to you, thats why I asked about rooting... so you can flash it without rooting?
Kudos to HTC for making things easier on the m8.
Too bad there's not going to be any stock based ROMs until the GPE comes out.
Also that stock bit wasn't meant to criticize you, I just wanted to hash out the differences in android roms
Ugh sense.
Poor m8 bastards.
I have a Nexus 5. Open source software and ease of modification is really important to me. Having to use some exploit to gain full access over my things isn't something I enjoy.Totally agree. My first smartphone was Nexus S and now using a Nexus 5. Getting sicked of constantly flashing rom. Maybe i am getting old, iPhone next
I understood it as marcusant being happy with not having to use an exploit to get root on his nexus 5. Whereas you need an exploit on iOS to be able to customize the os.
To me half of the charm with Android devices is custom ROMs. I -love- that my sgs4 is a beast with an aosp rom. Couldn't recommend iOS too anybody that isn't coming from an older iPhone. Don't get me wrong; I could use both operating systems and would gladly recommend either to a new user.

I want to buy a Galaxy S4 Mini, I know it is not the latest flagship with all the bells and whistles, but I just want a good android phone at a decent price, with a screen that does not make me feel I am speaking on my tablet.
Anyone with first hand experience with the mini? I have read many reviews already, pretty much all of them positive, but I would get some direct user feedback instead.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I would like to get into a S5 as well though, mother in-law took the OTA update on my Note 2 and it ended up causing all sorts of issues...

A friend of mine has one and he's happy with it.
And since then the note 2 wouldn't fit in your pocket? :p
You can fit the note 2 into the pockets of any pants, it purely depends on waist size.

Nope, fits fine, even enough room to hold my girl's S3 when she doesn't want to carry it ~.~
note: both using TPU cases.

Haven't had a smartphone for almost a year now, switched back to a dumbphone. And much to my surprise, it's actually fairly smart, having most of the same features as any smartphone, just watered down a bit (web browsing, GPS, games/apps, etc.)
And not to mention the superb battery life - can make it 4 days without charging it.

Okay. S3 died today. Need new phone with the quickness.
LG G3? Galaxy S5?
Help me, nerds!
I have a Nexus 5 as my primary. I like it, but don't love it. I'm debating about selling it. I'll see what the Moto X 2 will be like. The S5, rumored S5 metal body and upcoming Note 4 are phones I may be considering.
I also have a Lumia 820 that I use as a media player that is awesome.

I kinda agree with this. While I have an iPhone 4S (work cell), I feel that its screen is just too small for a smartphone. On the other hand, the new OnePlus One I have just feels too damn big. It's very hard to use the phone one-handed. My Nexus 4 seems about the perfect balance of size and readable screen.

A fairly large phone with a slide out physical qwerty keyboard would be great - maybe Omron switches?Typing on touch screens sucks, period.O_oI have a phone with a 3" Screen. Samsung Galaxy music.
/me wants something smaller than 3.5".
What you may or may not have considered is the typing experience on a phone with such a small touchscreen - Barely usable.

Before I had the Samsung, I had the BlackBerry Curve 9300. I actually quite like to typing experience on that( although the only other experience of typing was rubber dome, or the wii onscreen keyboard which is possibly the worst keyboard I've had to use to this date.) and would possibly consider getting a blackberry again just for the typing.A fairly large phone with a slide out physical qwerty keyboard would be great - maybe Omron switches?Typing on touch screens sucks, period.O_oI have a phone with a 3" Screen. I've had the slide-out keyboard on two phones, and a Bold 9900. The slide-out ones were so awkwardly shaped... too wide and buttons are small.
I couldn't go back to a physical keyboard on a phone at this point.
I am looking to replace my iPhone 4S with something different soon, as iOS 7/8 are not really to my taste (and the delays are still painful, although better than 7.0).
I'd like to give Windows phone 8.1 a try but they only sell the 1020 up here in Canada... go figure. Nokia 930 looks pretty cool, as does the new HTC One W8 Windows - although this one has a pretty awful camera and no antennas that work in Canada.

It suppose it depends on how much typing on the phone you do, but I found it to be much slower and less accurate than an on-screen keyboard. For me, this came down to auto-correct, which despite it's faults really does a good job of keeping you on track if you type out very quickly, as well as the physical force needed to actuate the blackberry keys. I also don't think it's worth losing the screen real estate for a keyboard, and the fatigue on my thumbs became noticeable.
I do remember a Blackberry TV commercial a few years ago that showed this woman who apparently sent a thousand emails a day from her phone, stating "try doing that on a touchscreen". It made me think, there are only about 16 waking hours in a day... 1000 emails would be just over one per minute. :o What she needs is a computer. //offtopic
Galaxy Note 3 here. I had a Nokia 1520 that was the biggest POS ever. I went through FOUR 1520's in 5 months, I had to take the first phone back on day one for bricking.couldnt agree more, ever since I got my Note 2 I couldnt bring myself to purchase any other phones. I currently have Note 3 and now I'm just patiently waiting for Note 4 ;D
I love the Note 3, this is the second 'Note' Ive had. Started off with the Note 1 about 3 years ago, "upgraded" to a Nokia 1520 in January of this year and after going through numerous nokias and b*tching with AT&T they finally exchanged it for the Note3

Hahaha. That's great.
How do you like the phone so far?
lol, between the sidekick and Note3 I went back to my trusty old nokia brick... I never used my phone anyway and I got sick of carrying the sidekick. Plus I used to skateboard A LOT, so I was always worried about breaking it or I would forget it at the park. Friends always coming by the house to bring me my sidekick... I never had to worry about the nokia, so I carried that for about nine years.... something like that.I got a Note3 recently... I don't know how to use it, but I'm learning!

Damn, that is a big jump, Maow. Why did it take you so long to get a new smart phone? Just never felt the need?
looks like not that many apple fanboys here haha.
Who use blackberry like me ?
Your a couple of weeks early :Pmy what is a couple of weeks early? :P i think i'll be getting the new iphone as well, since my other probable choice, Jolla, has unknown sim card size and too small screen.
I have an iphone 4s right now but I'm definitely getting the 6+ when it comes out. <3

Is the 6+ something that fits in a pocket? Or a one handed item? I want to preorder on the 12th but would like to see the 2 phones side-by-side first.
Is there a phone that's the same size as iPhone 6+ to go see size-wise?

Guys, I think you should check out this new thing (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nophone-usa/nophone-0)on Kickstarter
It is perhaps the biggest leap in the mobile world, if not the entire world in technology
This thing doesn't require any charging, it's almost entirely shatter resistant, and it runs you almost nothing
No details have been released about the OS it is running, but I don't think it's even going to run Droid

You want to know why I got that phone?
Aside from running Windows Phone OS, with this phone, I don't feel like I'm holding a dainty little toy in my hands, something that is very important when one has what have been affectionately referred to as "gorilla paws" for hands. It fits in my hand just perfectly. The ability to put it in my pocket is a non-issue, as I NEVER put phones in my pockets. Given my 6' tall body coming in at nearly 300 pounds, even a Nokia phone would be at risk of breakage if put into my pocket.

I'm using a Galaxy S3 at the moment and thinking about the OnePlus One. Care to share thoughts and impressions on that cell? :-) ThanksOPO is a great phone if you don't want to buy a contract. Its not as fancy as the top of the line phones, but it does everything you need for a great price.
Finally got a new phone, the HTC One M8. Huge upgrade from my POS smartphone I had for 6 years.

Nice :)Previously I was using galaxy nexus and I would say that 4.7 inch is probably the best size for my hand. Now I has been using opo and still trying to get used to the size. Well, good for people who prefer to type message using two thumbs. Kinda hard to type message using one thumb :/.
How's the handiness with the phone? It's rather big and it has a rather big bezel which makes it a little bit more bigger. I have normal hands I'd say, you think I would have problems with that? Because it's quite difficult to try it out here

My primary phone is a Moto X 2014 Pure Edition. I have a Lumia 820 that I used as a daily driver in between my Nexus 5 and Moto X. There are a lot of things that I like about the Windows Platform more than Android. The 820 is still a great phone more than 2 years after release.
I don't have any personal experience with the 830, but I've read many reviews praising the camera and improved battery life. The AMOLED screen of the 830 is very good. The Glance feature (should be on the 830) is fantastic. In many ways, better than the Active Display (or ?Actiive Notifications) on the Moto. The physical camera button is a great feature. Removable battery and micro SD support to 128 GB are excellent to have. WP8.1 is very smooth. I'm not an app heavy person, but some people have complained about the app selection and quality of the WP apps. Windows 10 should be coming out in the next year.

How you finding it? That is pretty much the only phone that ticks all my boxes right now, will need to get one imported though so I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Thank you for this. That's a cool write up that helps me justify the £270 leaving my account :P What is the Glance feature?
It's a feature where notifications will light up if you pull the phone out of your pocket, or wave your hand over the phone without depressing the power button (peek mode). There are settings to have it constantly on. I have mine set on my wireless charger where Glance is on continuously. At night, I can take a quick "glance" at the phone while it's charging and see what notifications I have. I like the email notifications of WP8.1 because I can set it so that I can tell how many in each of my different email accounts I have, rather than the sum of all messages.

You can customize a reasonable amount. Instead of icons, there are tiles, similar to widgets. They be arranged however you like on your start screen. It's easy to put custom ringtones on WP8.1. Wallpapers/lock screen are pretty easy, just like Android.

Additionally, the tiles can be set to two or three sizes (depending on the app associated with the tile... most do all three sizes, but certain ones like Amazon or Newegg only do two). Also, you can set the tiles to a range of colors or have them be transparent and show a wallpaper behind them. I actually posted a screenshot of my start screen here on GH. I'll have to see if I can find it for you, katushkin.

I have heard a little about the home screen customisation, but I was just wondering specifically about the glance feature. :)

Just traded my 5S in for a 6+. Holy crap these 5.5" phones are almost way too big.
ps does anyone put phablets into their regular jeans? (not sweatpants and not baggy jeans) I'm just wondering because everyone i've seen in public use a phablet is overweight and only can fit into sweatpants, are tiny asian girls and use a purse, or put it into their jacket pocket.

i have a thing for glass phones and I'm pretty careful so it's all good :D. what's next? i honestly don't know -_- just something that has a powered usb port so i can use my micro usb flash drive on it lol.

I have a Lumia 1520 as well but I don't fit regular jeans. I cycle a lot so my upper legs are like trees. Combine that with extra long legs and I make any normal pair of jeans look like skinny jeans or they are way too short.ps does anyone put phablets into their regular jeans? I have a Lumia 1520, probably the biggest phablet out there (with the exception of the Note). I've never put a smartphone into my pants pockets because of the risk of damage. I'm a big guy, so anything remotely fragile in my pockets is at risk of being destroyed. I actually keep my phone in the front pocket of my shirt for ease of access and because I use a wired headset to talk.

It gets even better if you put it in car mode. You can set it to automatically read texts out loud and divides the screen into the four most used apps for car use like "Quick call" where you can put your most frequent contacts, "Here Drive" for navigation and "Music". And with Hey Cortana (http://www.windowscentral.com/first-images-and-video-hey-cortana-revealed) you can answer texts by just talking. :)Give us a review of your phone.I'm on a Lumia now :)One question though, how do I take a screenshot?press the home button and the lock button simultaneously.
WP8.1 has some nice features. I was using my 820 with a bluetooth headset a few days ago, and a text came through. WP8.1 gave the option of reading the text. It's a useful, convenient feature, especially if you're driving or if your hands are tied.
It gets even better if you put it in car mode. The very hard to get oneplus one :p
Lol I got it when it first came out but thanks for the offer. Still waiting on the white style swap cover to come outThe very hard to get oneplus one :p
it's extremely easy now compared to may of last year. had to wait 2 months and get extremely lucky to get mine.
did you want one? you were one day late from posting. i could have given you a link to their private survey that guarantees you an invite to buy the 64 gb version and a chance to win one of the 10 bamboo back covers. it just ended yesterday tho but let me know if you're still interested. i've been giving out free invites to friends/co workers and they might be able to get their free ones soon, too.
My ancient Samsung SGH-S8300 Tocco Ultra featurephone from autumn 2009 finally died when the phone's built-in charging circuit wouldn't work on two new batteries.I had grown attached to it because it had gone around the world and was bomb-proof.
I phoned up my carrier - Virgin mobile UK and got an android phone delivered the next day.I already had a VIP 18 - SIM only rolling one month contract with unlimited everything and I was desperate for anything; having no cellphone for over a week.
I got a Chinese 5" phablet called a ZTE Blade L2 for £60 unlocked.
It is my first smartphone and as it was just before Christmas money was tight precluding a Samsung or other big name.
I got a book wallet case cover from amazon for £4 and a 32 (Attachment Link) GB micro SD card for £5 from ebay - total bargain.
All I can say it's great full stop.

Just traded my 5S in for a 6+. Holy crap these 5.5" phones are almost way too big.
takes about a week and you'll start saying that the 5.1 phones are way too small.
Im on a htc m8
a phone should bounce?Of course! I watched a dismayed colleague pick up his shattered iphone after a drop from his pocket onto carpet while sitting down, not long after I showed him what happens when I drop my Nokia from my ear while standing onto paving slabs - the corner dented. What use is a phone if you have to baby it?
Still using the Oneplus One. I would say it's the best smartphone I've ever owned.I thought about going 1+1 after my Nexus 5, but decided to stay Nexus due to all the CM inc. drama that was going on.
