I'll throw in the same comment I made on Reddit! Wenge, Zebrawood or Padauk and I'm in!
I like ebony best.
I like ebony best.
Ebony=$$$, African Wenge is a decent substitute that I have seen /u/MDDDIY use. He made those "sunken" mahogany wristrests a while back that came out stunning. That said, I am probably in (depending on where pricing ends up).
I've added an interest check form to see how many sets people are all interested to get a rough estimate. This will be run as a GB (I will try my best to make it as fast as possible). I have yet to mention pricing since I will be handling the production, and shipping of these items. I am very disappointed in the unreliability in some of the 'well-known' wrist wrest makers, and it seems I need to handle everything myself.

1 set = 1 left, 1 right.
Only pairs are offered. I sent pm's to those who have submitted 2 to double check.
We got several geeks interested in this GB at ROK :)
Great! I have found a maker for them in the United States, and I will be getting a prototype within a week or so :thumb:

Will they be made with different wood types or will they just be stained to make them look like other wood types?
Different wood types

Nice! I can't wait to see the prototypes!!!
Likely will only be one prototype, and then samples of wood with their finishes. Ordering 5 or 6 doesn't make sense.

Yea, that makes complete sense. I wasn't able to get the acrylic stands that were part of the VE.A drop, the kit with switches and keycaps had me tapped out, and I'm happy that I didn't now because wood stands will look much better than the acrylic.
Since you've found a maker now is there any solid info on pricing?
There are many variables that will add to the price like shipping the finished product to me, shipping materials, shipping to the customs, fees etc. that will affect the price, so I can't say until the IC is finalized and ready to become a GB.
That being said, the woods vary in price, but taking into account the acrylic stand's price and the price of other wood wrists (this is two parts though), I don't think you'll be worried about the pricing being too high.
The prototype should be coming within a week or so, if it's 100% perfect, then it will launch after logistics and finances are figured. I will have to order boxes that are small enough to save on shipping, but large enough to protect them, rubber feet, probably tape (I'm running low haha).
Just an update. Had someone that seemed highly interested in building these, but they hadn't replied to my messages two days in a row having read them. Another three days went by, and nothing was messaged. This is all after he delayed making the prototype for roughly two weeks.
I'm going to have to contact someone outside of the keyboard community to make these. This is a very busy week for me, so I'll try next weekend to look for a person or company that can make this for me.
In the time I waited for a prototype from the other person, I feel this whole GB could have been finished already.
Stay tuned.

That looks absolutely beautiful!
Is there any chance of a multiwood version? I saw one for a 60% in your Reddit thread and would love it if that was possible with this drop too! No matter what I'll be getting at least one set but a multi-wood set would be amazing!
What exactly do you mean? Two different colors per half? Or did you mean glue two woods and then cut? I would have to ask, I will be calling the maker this weekend.

This is what I am talking about:

I am going to guess it would be 2 pieces glued together and then cut but I'm not a woodworker so I'm really not sure how they manage to make it look like that.
I messaged him, I'll let you know

Talked to the maker today. The following woods will be offered (from most to least expensive with oak and beech being the same price):
Zebrawood
African Wenge
Walnut
Mohogany
Oak
Beech
Pricing is still being finalized, but this will launch soon. Expect each set to cost at least $100. There is a lot of labor that goes into hand making these as well as material costs, prototyping costs and overhead.
Shipping will be billed separately. International shipping will be pretty pricey, and unfortunately, there is no way for me to lower pricing unless someone wishes to proxy orders for a particular country. Actual shipping price will be charged. Sets are estimated to weigh 3lbs.
There is an MOQ of 20 sets, and a maximum order of 100 sets. Prototyping costs will be split across each order, so the more that are ordered, the cheaper each set will cost. For example, if 100 sets are ordered, each person will save about $32 compared to 20 being ordered.
I will be posting pics of the actual woods that will be used to make these, as well as updated renders soon. The GB will then launch soon after.
The total timeline from ordering to receiving is estimated to be around 3-4 months.
Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding. ;)

Well I'm in! Since this is a pretty relaxed and custom buy, any chance we can all pepay for prototyping costs, see what the prototypes look like and then decide and pay the remainder of the full price?
I know I prefer zebrawood to wenge, but don't know how it looks with the keyboard y'know?
Oh? For some reason I got the impression that all woods would be prototyped. I mean unless the woodworker is exceptionally experienced (I am not saying they're not), they themselves probably have to do a little bit of prototyping to get all the woods to work the way they'd want them to.I'll throw in the same comment I made on Reddit! The prototype is already done, see pictures on first page.

It's happening soon, but it must be 100% ready before it launches. Thanks for your patience! :thumb:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/Ej8PXl4.jpg)
