Well, not exactly whisper, because you have to create some vibration in your vocal cords, but you can talk very very softly while pressing the mics inwards for a low volume situation.
But typically at 8k RPMs with windows down I'm not so worried about how loud I'm talking, just that they can hear me!
On a geek note, the cables on these are really sweet, very high quality, flexible, fabric wrapped, non-binding sort of sheath. It's almost like I'm on Seal Team 6 bringing it to Bin Later.
The earpiece is also a tube, so you don't have to cram an actual mini-speaker in your ear like typical in-ear headsets. It's way more comfortable, but obviously not for music and such.
