PCB-mounted with Cherry Reds
« on: Tue, 23 October 2012, 08:46:32 »
Are there any mechanical keyboards out there that are PCB-mounted and have red cherry switches?

Or am I stuck with blacks, blues, browns?

Thanks in advance.

Pures are pcb mounted and come in browns, blues, blacks, and reds :) I've got one with green leds and red switches.

All but the Race and Pure on tha page are plate.
If you don't mind a mini board, you have Poker, Pure, Race. If you need a fullsize 104 look for Cherry G80-3494LYCUS or G80-3800 is also available with red and quite a bit cheaper but it is not as good quality.

Looks like my choices are very limited.

If you don't mind to change the stems or springs, the selection gets quite large with other models of Cherry G80 if you prefer say the 1800 for example. Making ghetto reds with blue/brown board and change the stems to those of blacks or vice versa is quite easy. This also gives you the ability to pick up a used G80 for cheap.

I didn't forget the 3494, but did forget the 1865 with reds. 1865 usually have brown, is the full model on these LYCUS for reds as well?

G80-1865(red) are still available at PC|Home. It states it's EU layout. Probably in english. Well, chinese layout is the same anyways, just more etching.

I been trying to get a 1865 in blue. I may have a source, but I need to go ask. I have too many boards already, but I want to replace my favorite board (1800 in blue, but I want it in USB ;)). If i don't find it, I may need to get that red board and mod it.
