Finally ordered me a model F, right now I'm using a unicomp model M and will be putting it away for a few months while I get used to the F. Its still my first mech board and has the same birthday as my dad and grandma, so I want to make sure I store it correctly. How do I do that?

Keyboard sleeve, no direct sunlight, non humid condition

or better, in a safety deposit box with lots of hounds

Does a Model F fit in a LFRB game box from USPS? I use to store all my ALPS boards and Model Ms in those.

Its the same size or less than an M iirc. so it may. Do I just get them at the post office, how much do they cost?

They are free.

If your local post office doesn't have them, you can order them from USPS.com you order by the pack. So an order of 1 is like 15 or so.

I am just putting my SSK on a bookshelf, open display. It is collecting dust but I think it's good so far.

Bundle up the cable in something: An empty toilet paper tube works great. Don't ever wrap cables around keyboards - plasticizers in PVC cables could eat into the plastic of the keyboard and leave ugly marks.

Most of my keyboards that aren't in active use are on display. In the house I'm living in for the summer, I have a shelf with old boards, and a shelf with modern boards.

For your case either find a box to store it in or a sleeve as people have said.

The best way to store your keyboard is using pocker chips case. For model F - 500 chips case.

Sorry, the model F is more than 23 cm in depth, but the pocker chips cases is 22 cm max. e.g. my ssk in perfectly suited 400 chips case

I'ma get one box for my unicomp and then buy a buffet cabinet to store them in and put their boxes in storage.

You can store a Model M or Model F pretty much any way you want. They’re built like tanks. For best results though, don’t store it with the keys held down (i.e. don’t just make a stack of 20 loose keyboards on a shelf), and protect it from dust with some kind of cover or container. If there are ABS parts (e.g. the case on a Model M), keep it out of direct sunlight. Any kind of box would be fine.

Good luck finding intact boxes for vintage boards.
And custom keyboards don't have boxes either.
Those are the only two kinds of keyboards I collect.

I used to put keyboards in a large & sturdy cardbord box, kept them dry and out of light. Years later, I discovered that the box was severely damaged by termite infesations!
