Xerox 820-II $100 + shipping OBO

Dorkvader seems to think Hall effect or vintage SMK from this old post.  The only other info I could find is with a low profile ITW Magnetic Valve, which this is not.  Could be a fun project for someone to revive.  The only one I know should know for sure what this has is HaaTa since it appears he has one.

Yeah, here's the options in order of liklihood
1. honeywell hall effect (bent spacebar Ive only seen on HE and keytronic) ctrl keys and return key are the right shape/size. FOnt looks about right. Key profile looks right.
2. vintage keytronic Foam & foil. Bent spacebar. Thick spherical doubleshots, etc.
3. Vintage SMK (thick black spherical doubleshots, return key looks about right.
pretty sure its not vintage SMK because of the curved spacebar.

Seems like it went for $44 + $30 shipping. Not bad for a hall effect keyboard, if that’s what it was.

They kinda stick near the bottom on the return and are pretty heavy, so not a whole lot. I'll mess around with it a little more though

So far there are three known manufacturers of curved ones. Microswitch, keytronic and (now) SMK.

Really? No SMK branding, the only thing I see is "The Maxi-Switch CO" printed on the PCB

Nah, it was still  good buy. The things really cool, and the switches aren't that bad. I'm gonna try and clean em out or lube them and see if I can make them a little smoother.
And what's the term for when tiny particles of solder collect on a metal? I just noticed it on the spacebar stab and was curious

If you have some very hard (e.g. carbide-tip) flush cutters, you could snip a few loops of the spring off for each switch, and get something a bit less stiff.

Or I wonder if the spring is similar enough in size that you could use e.g. MX or Alps springs.
