Ducky Shine 69
« on: Wed, 14 January 2015, 10:46:38 »
No that's not a joke.  Based off the Ducky Shine 78 (7 LED colors, 8 switches), the 69 version will have 6 LED colors and 9 switches.

I've got a 78, so I'm definitely going for this one to.  I need to feel the tactile gray.

If the price is right, then I'll cop it. I feel like I need at least one full size mechanical keyboard in my life.

I guess. There just really isn't anything about this that someone couldn't make themselves, besides a slightly different looking case by the looks of it

Yup. Honestly, seeing the 78 in person, it's a really cool board. Great for showing new folks and just enjoying as part of a collection.

Well, people keep saying switch testers with only one switch per type are useless, so here's a big one? Poor MX brown though, only the Esc key. :P

I'm not sure what the real point of this is(And for typing I'd think they'd want to swap the blues and the greens around...), but it's... Um. Interesting.

Why would they put lighter switches as the mods and heavier switches as the alphas? Doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

MX Whites are such a defective inconsistent switch - why are they still being used!?

They are great if you buy a bag of 500 of them and then carefully hand select which are to be used.  But for a production keyboard? NYET!

The whites I have had in the past had no problems at all, perhaps it is very batch dependent.

I suppose these are kind of 'for fun' boards... but, I think it would be more useful to stick to one switch family. Make one click type with all 3, one tactile type with all 3, one linear type with all 3... maybe even make them set up in variable weighted manner in the primary typing area for something that is actually not much done in the world of MX.

Ok I see what the dual dual LED is.

Each bank of switch types has a different dual LED color.
Looks like the main keys are red and green (as red and green seem to make yellow).
The "Navigation" keys (arrows, insert, etc) SEEM TO be using blue/yellow or something.  I know it's NOT blue red, because you can clearly see an orange or yellow color appear on those, when blue and red on the shine 4 go from magneta to purple.  The effect goes from blue/purple to orangeish-yellow instead of red (like on the blue/red shine 4's).  But blue and yellow make green too, but there is a difference between combining LIGHTS and PIGMENTS.

Number keypad is using red/green like the main keys.
F5-F8 are using blue/red.  F1-F4 and F9-F12 seem to be using red/green.

The mod keys (control alt shift, etc) seem to be using red/blue.

The shine 4 was pretty.  This is going to be a disco...
Oh well it will have to do until ducky comes out with their RGB...

This is a gimmick board, nothing more.

One year from now, let's see who will come forward to say that they actually use it as a daily driver.

This is kind of like the ergonomic weighting of the RealForce keyboard. I don't see why not. I actually have been contemplating something similar myself, but not using so many switch types. I was thinking just having the WASD movement and arrow keys in red switch while the rest in blue.

Looking up green switches, found out that the actuation and release point is in the same spot, unlike blues, so you can reliably doubletap with these.  Blues on the mod keys is looking really good now (since you don't double tap with shift or control).
Going to enjoy this keyboard.
Just have to see how the LED's hold up with time.  When Ducky gets true RGB, I can see a version of this going for $350...

I'd love to see a Romer-G ducky mech, but Logitech probably has that taken for awhile.

You sure about that?  The ones I've seen show that greens are the same as blues when it comes to actuation/reset being different...although greens are slightly better in that regard...

I don't think blues for the mods are a big deal..not sure I'd want blue on the spacebar of a mx green keyboard though...that would be odd...
