Model M layout conversion ISO/ANSI

I remember reading somewhere that Model M boards all share the same barrel plates and membranes, so if you relocate the spring hammers you can change the layout. Can anyone confirm this? I am particularly interested if this is still true of the Unicomp PC-122. I bought two used ISO layouts and I would like to convert at least one of them to ANSI.

This is true, but I'm not sure if that goes for the Uni's as well... I would think so but...

I should just be able to pop off the enter key and look for an empty barrel, right?

I can actually probably dry-fit all the ANSI keys before I tear it apart. I'll have to try that tomorrow when I get into work.
