[IC] GMK Chicklet
« on: Tue, 21 April 2020, 14:59:58 »
yeah this is dead. welp I'll just keep designing keycaps until I can start making good ones.

Hey first post here on geekhack. I felt like making a keycap set for the first time and here it is. it's kind of based on the spacebar I have on my current keyboard. Sorry this looks rushed and like crap. This set probably won't end up getting run but I wanted to try designing a keycap set.

Colors/Colours
GMK V2, GMK WS1, RAL 1016

Spacebar that I'm using/basing this on
240490-0
Link to buy it:
https://kbdfans.com/collections/keycaps/products/pbt-dye-subbed-spacebar-6-25u?variant=17322631135290

Base Kit
240362-1

This was gonna be two kits, alphas and modifiers but since this is my first set and someone said I probably shouldn't, I made this into one base kit.

Hiragana
240364-2

I might take this kit out if this set isn't popular enough

40s
240366-3

for smol keyboards

Someone said they wanted to see a set with GE1 and other people said they wanted a darker yellow. So here's a comparison.

Base kit with GE1
240496-4
Base kit with RAL 1016
240498-5
Strawpoll for which color/colour I should use: https://strawpoll.com/b42g4926

If you wanna help me with this kit because I'm super unexperienced send me a message on Discord at scおrps#5656.
Plz fill out this form: https://forms.gle/NDLQ8mfrxHrs1GWU9

To do list:
Mix kits
Separate kit renders
Change yellow colour/color
Make spacebar kit and (maybe) novelties
Make better renders
A lot more stuff

Yeah, this feels rushed and had like no effort in to it. You need proper renders and kitting. Also this will be a pain to hit MoQ for with this many kits. Maybe use KAT or KAM? But I don't suggest running this set personally.

I didn't separate the kits because I was too lazy

You made these in KLE, but forgot to make one showing what the set would look like on a keyboard, these are just KLE renders of the mods separated from the alphas and the others kits you want for it. Could you atleast make another KLE of the set put together to give us an idea of what it would look like?

I'm probably just gonna have like 3 or 4 kits. I wanted to try and make more kits so you wouldn't have to spend extra money on keys you don't need but that's fine. I'm gonna try to start learning how to render keycaps if you know about any tools to render keycaps that would be helpful. I might change this to kam.

I like it and hope to see more. I'd love someone to make classic bright yellow with GMK GE1.

Note: If this sub was renamed "Do you have interest in this kit/board design I have, where I have very fleshed out designs/theme with renders already done" it would be vastly more accurate.

listen i love yellow as much as the next guy but this set isn't easy on the eyes

a darker shade of yellow more like serika might be well suited to this

I've done a lot of editing so some of the comments might not make sense anymore

After a couple of comments saying the yellow is way too bright I've decided to change the colour. not sure what I should change it to though. someone wanted to see a set with GE1 so I might go with that. not completely sure

Is there any particular reason for the Hiragana kit?
Or just aestethics?
