Only Topre Spacebar ABS?
« on: Wed, 14 September 2011, 11:48:48 »
Hi Friends ;),

Maybe this question has been uttered before..., but wanted to be sure. (Sorry for the inconvenience)

I saw a few posts made by Ripster, about the spacebar on Topre keyboards; concluding it was made with ABS.

On the Topre keyboards, only the spacebar is ABS right?, or are all the keys ABS?, this i did not get from Ripster's surgery of the keys ;)

Regards,

Davin

According to the Topre wiki, the rest of the keys are PBT.

I believe the right shift is also ABS, however it hasn't been confirmed yet.

Dye subbed ABS? Unlikely.

That makes sense. Thanks for pointing it out, though they could still use some kind of modified nylon material that withstands the heat.
The shift key has a different texture.

Hmm, I can't see a difference on the 103UB I'm staring at on my desk.  Could it be you just don't use your right shift so it looks like it has a different texture but just isn't worn?

Not to sound all "mcgurky" but it could be normal pbt wear from using that key a lot.

Can it be captured well in a photo? (maybe if you remove it and another cap and put them together?

If so, please post...

The texture is smoother, very similar to the spacebar.
